October 2021 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions

As we gear up for the holiday season, we can expect several new special deals and promotions via official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop, as well as various retailers. In addition, LEGO just released a large number of new sets, which we will take a look at below.

During the entire month of October, you will get a free #30413 LEGO Friends Flower Cart with purchases of $40 or more. From now until October 24th, you will get a free #30370 LEGO City Ocean Diver with purchases of $40 or more. October 18-24, you will get a free #5006890 LEGO Rebuildable Flying Car with purchases of $120 or more. October 25 – November 7, there are two Harry Potter Promotions; you will get a free #40452 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Gryffindor Dorms with LEGO Harry Potter purchases of $100 or more, and in-store only you will get a free #30392 LEGO Harry Potter Hermione’s Study Desk with purchases of $40. To take advantage of these specials, visit an official LEGO store or the Online LEGO Shop.

The latest in the LEGO Winter Village series, #10293 LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Visit is now available for everyone, not just LEGO VIP members. We discussed this set already a couple of times (see links at the end of this post), and you can purchase it (along with earlier LEGO Winter Village sets) at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

A complementary set that goes really well with the LEGO Winter Village collection is the also newly released #40499 LEGO Santa’s Sleigh. We talked about this set in detail at LEGO Santa’s Sleigh & The Evolution of LEGO Reindeer, and you can purchase it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Also, remember that LEGO is offering five new Advent Calendars this year, the #41690 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar, the #60303 LEGO City Advent Calendar, the #75307 LEGO LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, the #76196 LEGO Avengers Advent Calendar, and the #76390 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar. You can read more about them here: 2021 LEGO Advent Calendars Overview and purchase them at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Two smaller holiday sets are the #40498 LEGO Christmas Penguin and the #40494 LEGO Polar Bear & Gift Pack. We talked about both at Seasonal LEGO sets for Halloween & Christmas and you can find them at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Another sweet set that you can even use for the holidays is the #10290 LEGO Creator Expert 1950s Farm Pick Up Truck. Packed with details, this true-to-life model recreates the vintage pickup truck shape with its rounded lines, delivering produce from Green Farm. You can even create a seasonal display with the many accessories included. There’s a wheelbarrow with flowers and a watering can for spring. For summer, there are two wooden crates, tomatoes, carrots, and a milk pail. Autumn brings a crate with pumpkins, while for winter there is a wreath and a festive gift. The truck measures over 5.5 in. (14 cm) high, 13 in. (33 cm) long, and 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide. comes with 1,677 pieces, and retails for $129.99. Available at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Here is another new truck, but this one is in the LEGO Technic line. The #42126 LEGO Technic Ford Raptor. Authentic details include the V6 engine with moving pistons, plus suspension on all wheels. There are four opening doors, so you can easily admire the interior, along with an opening hood and truck bed. The Truck measures over 6 in. (15 cm) high, 16.5 in. (42 cm) long, and 7 in. (18 cm) wide, comes with 1,379 pieces, and retails for $99.99. Available at the LEGO Technic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Another new LEGO Technic set is the very large and imposing #42131 LEGO Technic App-Constrolled CAT D11 Bulldozer. Just like the bulldozer, this model is built in modular sections. This is a fully motorized model that includes four motors and is operated via the LEGO Technic CONTROL+ app. Comes with 3,584 pieces and retails for $449.99. You can read the press-release here with more information: LEGO Technic App-Controlled Cat D11 Bulldozer. The set is available at the LEGO Technic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The new #40478 LEGO Disney Mini Disney Castle is undoubtedly going to be popular this holiday season. It’s a mini version of the very large #71040 LEGO Disney Castle, but it still packs in lots of details. The Mini Disney Castle is only $34.99, which is ten times less than the larger version. In addition, it comes with an exclusive version of Mickey Mouse. It’s available at the LEGO Disney section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #21329 LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster is now available. We talked about this set in detail (see: Thoughts on the LEGO Ideas Fender Stratocaster), but to recap, it features a replica of the iconic 1970s Fender Stratocaster guitar and 65 Princeton Reverb amplifier. The guitar comes with authentic details such as the poseable whammy bar, pickup switch, and tuning pegs. The buildable amp has removable panels for easy viewing of the motherboard, reverb tank, speaker, and other interior details, plus rubber cables to connect it to the guitar and footswitch. This set comes with 1,074 pieces and retails for $99.99. You can purchase it at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #71395 LEGO Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block is now available. Twenty-five years on from the launch of the Super Mario 64 video game, this set features a brick-built Question Mark Block that opens to reveal instantly recognizable levels from the game: Peach’s Castle, Bob-omb Battlefield, Cool, Cool Mountain, and Lethal Lava Trouble. There are also 10 micro-figures of iconic characters to place in the detailed scenes. If you would like to see how the set folds and unfolds, take a look at a full review here: LEGO Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block Review. You can purchase the set at the LEGO Super Mario section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #10291 LEGO Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft is the latest in a series of LEGO sets based on popular sitcoms and television shows. Queer Eye is a popular reality show on Netflix, and this set features the hosts’ original Atlanta loft. You’ll discover lots of features from the show with tributes to each of the Fab 5’s special talents. There’s a kitchen island for Antoni, a clothing rack for Tan, Jonathan’s swivel salon chair, and Karamo’s couch and scrapbook. And this space is Bobby-approved as he helped design this very special LEGO interior. No episode of Queer Eye would be complete without a makeover. So, as well as including minifigure versions of each of the Fab 5 (plus Bruley the dog), the set also includes two minifig versions of Kathi Dooley. There’s also a transformation chamber feature to recreate Kathi’s emotional ‘before and ‘after’ reveals. You can read more about the set here:  LEGO Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft Coming Soon! It is available at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

We talked about the new LEGO City Stunt Show sets before (see: LEGO City Stuntz: Flywheel-Powered Stunt Bikes), and they are now available. All of the sets feature minifig-scale flywheel-powered bikes to perform cool wheelies and high-flying stunts. There are six sets with just a minifig and a bike, and there are four larger sets with various obstacles for the bikes to interact with. Although the sets are a bit on the pricey side, I do recommend getting at least one of the bikes to try out the flywheel action. You can find all the sets at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

There are several new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets as well. This includes the #76145 LEGO Eternals’ Aerial Assault, the #76154 LEGO Marvel Deviant Ambush, the #76155 LEGO Marvel The Eternals In Arishem’s Shadow with four Eternals and a Celestial against a Deviant bat, the #76156 LEGO Marvel Rise of the Domo set with the Eternals’ spaceship, the #76237 LEGO Marvel Sanctuary II: Endgame Battle, the #76184 LEGO Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack, the #76185 LEGO Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop, and the #76195 LEGO Spider-Man’s Drone Duel. You can find them all at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO DC Super Heroes fans get two new sets; the #76238 LEGO Classic TV Series Batman Cowl, and the #76239 LEGO DC Batman Batmobile Tumbler Scarecrow Showdown. You can find them at the LEGO DC Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, there are quite a few new sets to choose from. Some are specifically for the holidays, while others are perfect building projects for any occasion. What do you think? Are you getting anything new this month? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

I’m getting the Christmas sets and a couple of the advent calendars. That’s all I can afford right now. Are there any good sites for checking out how people lay out their winter village?

    • amanda October 1, 2021, 10:51 AM

There is a facebook group that’s really good. It’s called friends of lego winter village.

      • Tanner October 1, 2021, 7:28 PM

I like both the technic and the creator truck. Can the technic truck get motorized?

        • Thita (admin) October 3, 2021, 10:25 AM

I suppose it’s possible. It just depends on if you can keep all the components hidden inside. But I have the Rally Car, and it’s a pretty compact motorized set. You could use that as a template. I would also check YouTube and Eurobricks for ideas. 🙂

That pickup truck looks great! And I want to try out at least one of the city bikes. They are expensive though.

  • Håkan October 2, 2021, 9:11 AM

Hmm, my 2x VIP points for the Daily Bugle was more or less enough to get a free 76185 LEGO Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop. Unfortunately that discount meant that I had to pay the postage fee. Maybe I should have used the discount in the Stockholm Lego Store instead, but I was too lazy to bike there, now during autumn. =/

    • Håkan October 2, 2021, 9:16 AM

Otherwise, I’ll see if the sets would contain any new useful pieces that would come up on Bricks And Pieces…

    • Thita (admin) October 3, 2021, 10:27 AM

Nice! You guys don’t have a threshold for free shipping? I specifically have a list of small sets that I can add if I’m ever short by a few bucks. Anyway, enjoy your set! And autumn! I don’t know what that means there. Here, we’re still going to the beach! 😀

      • Håkan October 3, 2021, 1:53 PM

There’s a threshold, but I got below it again with the discount. I thought about adding some of the Marvel CMF:s to reach it, but in the end I decided not to. Autumn in Sweden means darkness is coming. The further up north you go, the differences between the light summer and the dark winter gets more and more extreme… =/

Anyway, I had hopes some of the new Vidiyo pieces would come up on Lego Bricks And Pieces, but I have yet to see any…

        • Thita (admin) October 3, 2021, 5:05 PM

Hm… darkness! That’s something I could not deal with even when I lived in Chicago! I’m solar-powered and need lots of sun! 😀

And yes, interestingly, AFOLs almost universally hated the Vidiyo sets, but now that it is getting discontinued, they all want them. I do think that the series has some nice pieces and accessories. LEGO should have released the second wave before the first wave. I think it would have been received much better. 🙂

          • Håkan October 3, 2021, 7:51 PM

I think AFOLs would have liked the theme better if the pricing was cheaper, and the augmented reality software would have worked. 😉

            • Thita (admin) October 3, 2021, 7:54 PM

Ha! I almost forgot about the augmented reality gimmick! It never worked on my phone, or anyone else’s phone that I know. Sigh… 🙄

  • Sith015 October 2, 2021, 9:15 AM

No new Star Wars? Bummer. I will wait, but I do want to get a couple of those bikes. They look fun.

  • Undercover AFOL October 3, 2021, 10:34 AM

So no holiday freebie? Don’t they usually do those in October/November?

    • Ray October 4, 2021, 12:56 PM

IIRC, November. Usually starting at “brick Friday”/black Friday.

  • Ray October 4, 2021, 1:11 PM

Really curious what “Rebuildable Flying Car” is supposed to mean. What Lego sets AREN’T rebuildable? Kind of implies it’s meant to crash into pieces? Given the design and especially the mix of bright colors, it kind of seems like it’s meant to evoke a drawing a small child would make, so I guess being a flying car that crashes easily makes some sense? It also specifically calls out Lego’s “Rebuild the World” campaign, so that may have something to do with the weirdness. I can’t quite figure out if the overall oddity of it increases or decreases the appeal. The free-with-purchase sets of the $120 magnitude are usually something special.

    • Håkan October 5, 2021, 7:44 AM

      Note. Car doesn’t actually fly.
