BrickLink Designer Program Round 1 Final Designs

The second round of the BrickLink Designer Program crowdfunding stage is open for a few more days, and five projects are already guaranteed to be made into LEGO sets. You can visit the BrickLink Designer Program page for more information and see if any of the projects are still available for pre-purchase, or follow the links at the end of this post.

In the meantime, projects from the first round of the BrickLink Designer Program are going to be shipped soon (December/January) to those who purchased them during the crowdfunding stage. The design of the boxes as well as product images have been finalized, so you can check them out in more detail.

This is great news! I also got an email that they are shipping the sets soon, so I’m pumped!

I didn’t order the castle, because I felt it was a little too messy, but on these pictures It looks much better. I hope they continue this program even after the three initial rounds. It’s a great initiative.

In my opinion, the first round was the strongest. I like all of the projects. Although I’ a little disappointed that the colors of the fishing boat were changed.

I didn’t know they were going to include a baby kakapo! I thought it was only an adult one! That’s a nice touch.

The thing about this program is that it was barely advertised. I know a lot of people missed out because they weren’t even aware of it. I only knew about it because of the updates here. I hope they do better marketing next time around.

Apparently, the instructions for these sets were freely available to download, just like regular Lego sets. (From the Bricklink webpage.)

I downloaded the instructions for the Castle and the Kakapo, although I’m not sure on when I’ll get around to build them…
