LEGO Orchid to LEGO Demagorchid

Australian LEGO fan Joss Woodyard is well known for his amazing LEGO dragons, robots, monsters, and more. He was also the winner of LEGO Masters Australia Season 4 last year along with his brother Henry Woodyard. I highly recommend checking out their Instagram pages (just click on their names to take you there).

A recent custom project built by Joss that caught my attention is inspired by the #10311 LEGO Orchid, released in 2022 in the LEGO Botanical Collection. The official LEGO set is full of interesting parts like LEGO Technic elements, shoulder armor pieces, cockpits, dragon tails, pink frogs, ice cream pieces, and more in unique ways to shape the flowers and leaves.

But Joss went even further, and turned the orchid into a demagorgon, a predatory humanoid creature from the Netflix show, Stranger Things, and named it Demagorchid. He said he was inspired by the LEGO set (more specifically the little demagorgon heads that come with it), and by orchids in general because they are super cool and look like little monster faces.

This is a great example of taking an official LEGO set and modifying it into something new and unexpected. I wonder what kind of monsters the other LEGO Botanical sets could be turned into! To see the current selection of available sets, visit the LEGO Botanical section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Did you modify any of the LEGO Botanical sets? Feel free to share your thoughts and own creations in the comment section below!

Haha! Flowers are boring, make them into mechs! Now I want to do this with all the flower sets! 😀

I like flowers too, but this is so unexpected. Great job!

Okay, you got me. I’m going to take apart my flowers and build a monster or mech! Do you know if instructions are available?

Would the set contain all pieces required for this reinterpretation?

        This absolutely needs more parts.
There’s what looks like what white horns for the teeth.
There’s definitely extra brown and maybe green vines.
The bitty pink flowers are extra (or pink stars).
The yellow stamen is for sure from something else. I have no idea what.
The brown vines don’t appear on the orchid.

I wanted to jump right on the orchid set and try and immediately rebuild it into it. Now do I think that you can get really close, yes. However, there appear to be quite a few differences.

Transflowers – More than meets the eye!
    Transflowers – Blossoms in disguise!
