I need help. My company had a contest and the winners received a version of our companies truck. You had the choice between having already built and glued together or in pieces. I was the only one that wanted to build it myself. Received the blocks but there are no instructions. I was told that they cannot get in touch with the marketing company that they were purchased from. Is there anyone who can supply me instructions if I sent some pictures of a completed model? Thanks

        • admin February 26, 2018, 9:14 PM

Wes, you can send them to me and I can take a look (my contact link is in the left-hand side-bar at the top). Something that you might try yourself is to borrow the glued version of the truck the other winners received and use that as a template to build yours. If this is a smallish truck, it should be able to build from the pieces you received. If it is a large and complex model, then we will have to look at other options to reverse engineer it. Anyway, feel free to get in touch, send me some pictures, and we can go from there. 🙂

So do all baseplates accommodate all bricks.? I want to make a Lego table for my grandson but don’t know about how to buy the right baseplate he is 3 and I want this table to grow with him

    • admin November 30, 2015, 11:34 AM

Kris, as long as the baseplates are LEGO brand and come with standard LEGO studs, yes, they will accommodate all LEGO elements. All LEGO elements have been compatible from the very start of the company. That is the beauty of LEGO. 🙂

Keep in mind that LEGO has a larger brand called DUPLO, that is for younger kids. DUPLO also has baseplates with much larger studs. I would suggest that you stay with the standard LEGO baseplates with the smaller studs because kids pretty much grow out of DUPLO by the time they are 3 or 4.

hello fellow star wars lego bloggers – I’m searching for the Christo custom design Boss Nass lego minifigure. Does anyone know where I can get one?
Thank you for your help – you’re my only hope!

Arun, did you contact Christo directly?

  • Eileen Dickinson January 23, 2016, 12:09 PM

Hi, I love all the lego friends sets that are available and my granddaughters have great fun making and playing with them, however, my question is this, why is it not possible to buy a pack of lego mini figures, sometime its hard to share sets between them if they have only a limited amount of figures. It would be nice to be able to buy extra ones so that they can add them to their sets.
    Thank you. Eileen.

    • admin January 23, 2016, 12:19 PM

Eileen, are you asking about getting packs of regular minifigs, or Friends minidolls? Regular minifigs are available in packs – usually four per pack – especially in the LEGO City line. You can also get extra LEGO Friends figures in small packs. Also, LEGO stores have a build-your-own-minifigs section where you can put together your own minifigs from bins. And of course you can get plenty of loose minifigs on the secondary market. 🙂

Hi, I’m looking for the battery power pack for LEGO TRAIN 7222. I don’t mind buying the whole train as long as the battery pack is in perfect condition. I know it’s old n used! But I don’t want any corrosion. That is the problem I have with mine. If you have suggestions on how to fix this please let me know. Someone suggested buying a newer battery but I don’t know which could work. Thank you,
    Patricia

    • admin March 14, 2016, 12:21 PM

Patricia, would you please confirm which train you have? There is no train with a #7222 set number.

  • Boaz Almog March 21, 2016, 2:18 AM

    Hi,
My name is Boaz and I’m the inventor of BRIXO, chrome coated electric building blocks that enhance ordinary LEGO bricks.

We’ve been working on BRIXO for 4 years and its finally ready for production. We will launch a Kickstarter campaign (Tuesday 22nd) and would love if you introduced our project on theBrickBlogger. Once we conclude the campaign we will be happy to share new models and creations (and any news) with you.

Would it be OK if I sent you the link to our campaign when we go live and get your support by spreading the word about BRIXO ?

    Yours,
    Boaz.A

    • admin March 21, 2016, 10:41 AM

Fun intro video! In my experience custom items like this may work well with the general public, but not so much with dedicated LEGO fans. Sure, you can let us know about the KickStarter campaign, but LEGO fan communities like ours may not be the best audience for your product. I think social-media would be a better choice. Wishing you the best with your project. 🙂

    Hi,

I’m not sure if this is the best way of going about it. However I have about 20 Lego in-store displays that I would like to get rid of. Do you come across people looking for them? What would be the best way to move them?

    Thanks,
    Zack

    Hey,

I’m interested in buying some advertising space on your website thebrickblogger.com. I found it while doing some research for sites that would be a good fit for my clients.

If this is a partnership that you’d be interested in, then please let me know and we can take things from there.

    Regards,
    Dave

    • admin July 21, 2016, 10:05 AM

Zion, it really depends on what you are planning to advertise. It must be specific to the LEGO hobby, excellent quality, and helpful to our readers.

Hi, I am a mother of an impatient 6yr old trying to find where I need to go to take a survey for the chance to win a cool Lego set? Please help thanks

    • admin October 8, 2016, 1:08 PM

Kelly, I don’t remember seeing any surveys going on right now where you can win a LEGO set. There are some contests going on, but those are for older kids and adults. You might want to check on the LEGO Club website to see if there is anything happening currently for younger children.

We do model train shows and to get interest by kids, decided to have a Lego train running. I got the Christmas train (10254) + motor & battery box (88000, 88002). It ran to fast to make curves, so added the IR transmitter & receiver (8879, 8884). However, had difficulty controlling the speed. In testing, I got it to go forward reasonably slowly, so decided that would work for my needs and took it to a small show last weekend.

At the show, it just plain was erratic. It would run for a few times around then quick. I tried to ease up the throttle and it would take off at full speed or it would do a few more times and quit again. At one point, just sitting on the table, it would back up but would not go forward no matter what I did. New batteries in both the engine and ctl did not help. Going from the red to the blue connections did not help. Finally the batteries were run down enough for it to race around the track without the ctl unit (motor connected directly to battery box) but slow enough to stay on the track. Finally those batteries ran down, but the first set of batteries were low enough to run it the rest of the day.

I have a big show this weekend, any ideas for showing it off at that show? I suppose I could take lots of batteries short them enough to run them down a little ahead of the show or just wire a resister into the motor wire, but there must be a better solution.

    • admin December 5, 2016, 10:50 PM

Clark, the train does need the remote control, as otherwise the train will run too fast – as you found out. However all the trouble you are having with controlling the speed shouldn’t be happening. It appears that either the remote or the IR receiver is defective. I would call LEGO for troubleshooting for replacement.

  • Rebecca February 14, 2017, 11:52 AM

    Hiya!!
I want to make a space for my son to create and war with his brick pieces and minifigures, yet do not have baseplates.
I was inspired to create some sort of unique scene on the top of a plastic bin, that can fit under the table when not in use (I bought random brick second hand, and we have a pile of flats, I was hoping to create into a baseplate). I’m hesitant to use hot glue, however my initial though of using plastercine has failed (comes apart when larger blocks pried off) … Can you suggest anything that may help? Or is my idea a certain time and block waster??? (I’m unemployed right now, so I really really don’t want to buy baseplates)
Here’s the link to what I was thinking of trying to create based of pixel art:
    https://www.pinterest.com/pin/525936062706766033/
    Please help!!! 😀
The lego all over the house is making me crazy!! Of and what’s the obsession with wanting the special minifigures in kits, but then not wanting to assemble or play with the kit, just take the heads off and make new armies??? 😛
(and my OCD cannot figure out if I should sort by colour, shape, or “painfully” leave it all jumbled in the big bin that is making me crazy)

    • admin February 14, 2017, 12:37 PM

Rebecca, you can certainly make a play-surface with regular LEGO plates, but you would need to layer them to give it strength. Think of it like landscaping; you can use different colors, build roads, small elevations, some forestry (for those warring minifigs to hide in), etc. If you layer the plates well, you won’t need to glue anything.

In general, gluing LEGO is a bad idea. It means that those pieces can’t be used for anything else, and pretty much loose their purpose as a building toy. Also, if/when your son grows out of LEGO, you won’t be able to sell his collection. It is best to use LEGO as intended; for creative, ever-changing play.

If you don’t have enough plates to create a surface, you might consider buying a couple of larger baseplates and then expand them further with plates. I know you said you don’t want to spend any more money, but it may still make better sense that keep buying bulk lots that may or may not have the pieces you need. There are even third-parties who sell LEGO-compatible baseplates and play-surfaces that are cheaper than the original and can cover a large surface quickly. See some examples here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/node/12728586011/143-4158774-9514857?_encoding=UTF8&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Strictly%20Briks&linkCode=sl2&linkId=936914c8fb535a250feb109d43514a56&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&tag=thebriblo-20

As far as organizing your collection, there are different ways to do it. Since this is your son’s LEGO, I would suggest that you make him part of the process of coming up with a system, because if it doesn’t make any sense to him, he won’t be able to keep it up. You can organize by color, or type in drawers, plastic bins, ziplock bags, tackle boxes, etc. In general, organizing by type is what most LEGO fans do with a large collection (so bricks here, plates there, wheels here, minifig parts there, etc.), but if he wants to organize by color, and that makes more sense to him, then do that. You can buy all kinds of plastic containers and organizers very cheap at dollar stores.

Also, since it seems your son prefers to play with minifigs rather than building with bricks, why not just get him minifigs in bulk, rather than buying a bunch of LEGO parts and sets that he doesn’t need or want. You might even consider selling the LEGO pieces he doesn’t use right now, and then reinvest the money in minifigs. You can buy bulk minifigs and even specific bulk lots with army-builder minifigs on eBay.

This is a bit more involved, but another thing minifig collectors often do, is buy LEGO sets, keep the minifigs, and just sell the rest of the sets on eBay as sets without minifigs. There is a great market for minifig-less sets, as many builders don’t care for the minifigs, but do want the parts. This way you can also self-fund the hobby, so you don’t have to spend money that should be going for other expenses. As your son gets older, he can even learn to manage the business on his own. 🙂

      • Rebecca February 15, 2017, 1:43 PM

        Thanks for the advice!!
Though I am internally grumbling, and looking to purchase baseplates 😀 / 🙁
I never would have thought of reselling the kits without the minifigures either, so awesome info!!

        • admin February 15, 2017, 8:08 PM

Rebecca, have fun! Feel free to keep us posted on your project. 😀

  • Rebecca February 20, 2017, 7:27 PM

    Success!!
It took a few days, a sacrificed lego, and two “nice” blisters; but I finished…. There was a huge error with the perimeter caused by many, many kid interruptions, which prompted a desperate search for a million smaller substitute pieces…and the end result requires a bit of imagination, though I’m pretty happy!!
I chose the less popular form of *cringe* hot glue. And when prompted how to sort his bin (ie colour, size, etc), much to my horror, he thought the way it was “is just fine”. LOL *sigh*, now I’m much more thankful that I choose a black bin 😀 😀

I couldn’t add a pic of my masterpiece, however it’s posted below if you’re curious 😀

    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1395972083775821&set=pcb.10155011157742403&type=3&theater

    • admin February 20, 2017, 9:47 PM

Rebecca, for some reason I get an error message when I click on your FB link, so I can’t check out your masterpiece, but it sounds like you are satisfied with it, so that’s all that matters. Maybe your son is a creative organizer, and what may look like a chaos to others, is perfectly sensible to him. It happens. 🙄

  • AlanP June 15, 2018, 1:00 PM

I have got hold of a lot of bricks that look like lego but are not. The standard bricks are not quite as tall as standard lego bricks and the base is a series of parallel lines. They are all desert khaki coloured so probably make military vehicles. Could someone identify the manufacturer so I can look for build instructions. Thanks

    • admin June 15, 2018, 1:51 PM

Alan, any pictures? Without that it would be hard to tell, as there are a number of companies that make construction toys with military vehicles.

Hello LEGO fans – I am an author of a children’s book series, “From an Idea to…” (New York: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2019), that introduces kids to entrepreneurship through stories of how our favorite companies came to be.

My latest book – From an Idea to LEGO – will be released in one month, on July 9, 2019!

Your kids (age 8-12) will absolutely love “From an Idea to LEGO”. It explores the history of how LEGO came to be starting with Ole Kirk Christiansen as a boy.

The story takes young readers (age 8-12) through Ole, Godtfred and Kjeld’s leadership years and all the way to today. AFOLs are in the book as is Adam Reed Tucker and of course the latest LEGO movies. It’s an inspirational story not to be missed by any fan of LEGO.

“From an Idea to LEGO” is on pre-order sale on Amazon now – https://www.amazon.com/Idea-Lego-Building-Largest-Company/dp/1328954943/ref=as_li_ss_tl?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1560117234&sr=8-1&linkCode=sl1&tag=thebriblo-20&linkId=baf6ea1247edf52e0eb0595ad5e4248a&language=en_US

Hi While I think your website is informative , I would be better that when I click on a lego product as highlighted in info that a new page opened rather than reloading your page to that of the lego website as I prefer to go between pages as it loads .

    • Thita (admin) March 8, 2020, 7:48 PM

Jay, you can open links in a new window by right clicking on the links. Or, if you’re on mobile, long pressing the links. In both cases, a small dialog box will open up that allows you to open the link in a new window. 🙂

Hey, Om, thanks for reaching out. My only constructive feedback would be that you guys have some kind of cue system so you don’t end up talking over each other. Like something to alert the other person that you’re finished talking (or not). Other than that, you guys are doing a great job, and I love your enthusiasm. 🙂

  • Stephanie April 7, 2022, 10:39 PM

I have an old Lego Holiday Train #10254. I want to add a motor to run the train, but, I do not want to add the archaic power functions (what a pain that was!) What is the newest train motor and hub that will work with this train?
    Thanks for the help.
    Stephanie

    • Thita (admin) April 10, 2022, 11:20 PM

Stephanie, you could easily add the new Powered Up #88009 Hub and #88011 Train Motor. They are very similar to the old Power Functions, but completely eliminate the IR receiver and thus save space. I would also recommend getting the #88010 Remote if you prefer a more traditional way of controlling your train, or you could just use the Powered Up app that you can download for free. Hope this helps some! 🙂

We were building the Lego Titanic BM3522 and when we reached the end there was one of the Mast pieces missing so we cant finish it off with the String that came with it,
It was bought from Sythes Toy Superstore Rayleigh, Essex, on the 25/11/22 as a Christmas Gift.

    Kind Regards,
