A book nook or a bookshelf insert is a miniature diorama designed to fit between books on a shelf. They often depict a form of a street or similar setting in a theme from famous books. They are similar to bookends but are placed in the middle of the books rather than on the ends. According to Wikipedia, the idea seems to have originated in 2018 from a Japanese artist called Monde.
LEGO picked up on the popularity of book nooks and released several book nook sets, like the #10351 LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes Book Nook, the #10367 LEGO Lord of the Rings Balrog Book Nook, the #76478 LEGO Book Nook: Dumbledore’s Office, and the #76450 LEGO Book Nook: Hogwarts Express (which can be used both as a book nook and as a bookend).
A couple of days ago, LEGO revealed another book nook set that will be available starting on October 1st. The #11379 LEGO Icons Bookshop: Book Nook makes a perfect gift idea for writers and book lovers and a captivating display for the home or office.
Place the book nook between your favorite novels to create a window into a cozy bookshop or open it to explore a richly detailed 2-storey interior with elegant balconies and a spiral staircase. Discover thoughtful details throughout, from the snug author’s workspace to quiet reading areas and subtle references to renowned works of literature, including a golden cup, magnifying glass, and a black cat statue.
The miniature scene also includes author and reader minifigures for visual storytelling. When opened, this 1,690-piece book nook measures over 7.5 in. (20 cm) high, 15.5 in. (40 cm) wide, and 2.5 in. (7 cm) deep. Price: 149,99 USD / 129,99 EUR / 119,99 GBP. For more information and pictures, visit the LEGO Icons section of the Online LEGO Shop.
I really like book nook sets. They are full of charming details, unusual angles, and interesting accessories. And this set being a bookstore makes it especially relevant to book lovers. It’s nice to have a book nook set that’s not tied to any IPs. Book nook sets are also an excellent source of highly detailed interiors that can be incorporated into custom LEGO City and LEGO Modular buildings.
What do you think? How do you like the LEGO book nook sets? Do you have any of them already? And what do you think of the bookshop book nook? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!
