BrickWarriors is new on the LEGO customization scene, and just opened up their store with a bang; the great selection of LEGO custom items is causing a furry of excitement amongst LEGO fans! 😛

BrickWarriors custom LEGO accessories are designed by Ryan Hauge (aka. Thrash). If you happen to know Thrash, you know that his ideas have been in the making for some time now. Here is a picture he posted earlier this year, giving us a teaser of exciting things to come:

QUALITY: Thrash uses the same ABS plastic as LEGO, so his custom LEGO accessories are completely compatible with your LEGO minifigs.

MOLD DETAIL: Thrash seems to have captured that perfect balance between accuracy and LEGO-ishness in his custom LEGO designs.

COLORS: The current colors available are black, pearl-dark-gray, reddish brown and red. Not all items are available in all colors just yet.

PRODUCTS: So far there is a nice mix of modern, historic and fantasy custom LEGO weapons and armor pieces. In addition there are also some great minifig accessories. And I’m sure there is going to be more in the future!  😉

SUMMARY: I highly recommend trying out BrickWarriors! I have been very impressed with what I have seen in Thrash’s flick gallery, his friendly communication with his fans, friends and supporters, and the increadible details of his LEGO customs.

Also, I hope that one day Thrash will release his custom knight accessories as well. These were the first LEGO customs I have seen from him back in last December. And this is when I started following his progress, as I just got smitten by the beauty of these pieces! 🙂

Looks great! The scimitar is beautiful! Just wondering though what is the helmet with the ponytail is based upon.

Thrash mentioned that it is based on a picture he had found on Google images. He calls it “assasin mask”. 🙂

      Yes, aren’t they great? 😀

Only ships within U.S.A. Makes no sense to me 🙁

    • admin September 7, 2011, 12:41 PM

Nick, for USA sellers there is quite a bit of risk involved shipping internationally; small international packages cannot be tracked or insured. In otherwords the package getting there is totally at the mercy of the shipping system and the honesty of the buyer. Not good if you ware trying to run a business.

All LEGO customizers try to work around this by either working with resellers in other countries, or having higher minimum orders from international buyers so paying for Priority Mail makes sense.

Thrash did say that he is working on affiliating himself with resellers in other countries. I assume FireStar Toys (located in the UK) is going to be one of them, and probably resellers in Australia, and Canada too. This is just my guess, based on what other USA-based customizers are doing.

So, hang in there! You should be able to get them soon! 😉

I thought the ‘buyer takes the risk’? Certainly this has been the case with all other customs sellers I have ever ordered from, much as it is for uninsured Bricklink orders too . I like the selection Firestar Toys offer, but alas, they are SO overpriced it makes more sense getting it from the source.

Nick, I know what you mean! Yes, FireStar Toys is expensive! 🙁

This is just a long shot, but there is a contest over at Brickset to win a £25 cupon to FireStar Toys. I thought you might want to check that out! 😉

BTW, if you want me to place an order from a USA seller who doesn’t ship internationally let me know. I have done it for some folks in Israel, Australia and Brazil before. It is actually quite fun! I like having the chance to look at items I may have not bought on my own. Especially from customizers! 😛

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write a great review about BrickWarriors!

As for our shipping policies…we have several international resellers that we’re in contact with. We will post links to their stores on our website when they receive the products (which will be soon). We have also decided to start shipping to Canada and South Africa from our website, since we could not find resellers in those locations. I hope that helps!

    • admin September 8, 2011, 10:28 AM

Thanks you for opening up Canada and South Africa! Got some now-very-happy friends there! 🙂

UPDATE: BrickWarriors now ships directly to Canada and South Africa! 😀

I ordered a few of his western theme items and they are very nice. I also ordered a Minotaur head which is even better than the one coming in series six from LEGO. I made two custom figs the night I got the order in 😉

I do think the minimum shipping is way too high though.

    • admin September 11, 2011, 3:25 PM

I also got a Minotaur head and I really like it too! Actully I just placed my second order yesterday. 😉

I do agree with you that the minimum shipping fee of $4 is too high. I think it really should be $3.

The reason I decided to call in reasonable in the article is because I recently placed a couple of orders (one from a BrickArms reseller, the other from a toy reseller) and the shipping was even higher! Just for a few items! But I also just placed order from BrickForge (much larger) and that was $3.50. I would call that very reasonable.

Anyhow, BrickWarrior’s shipping seems to be somewhere between reasonable and high. Maybe it is done to discourage small orders. But then there aren’t enough products yet to place a larger order. 😕

I would encourage you to let Thrash know what you think. He may reconsider. He already reconsidered shipping to the USA only, and now opened up his store to many countries. So it seems he takes customer feedback seriously. It’s at least worth a try. 😛

UPDATE: Due to popular demand BrickWarriors now ships to many countries! Thanks, Thrash! 🙂

  • Thrash September 12, 2011, 5:32 PM

Sorry about the cost of shipping being so high. We would have liked it to be lower, but we had to figure in:

    -Actual Shipping Cost
    -Delivery Confirmation
    -Mailer & Packing Materials
    -Time to pack the order
    -Trip to the post office

Sure, $4 is a lot if you’re only making a $10 order, but the only place we actually save on a $10 order vs a $100 order is the time it takes to pack the order. All the other costs stay constant unless the order is very large.

If our order volume is high enough we might be able to cut a few costs by ordering some things in higher quantities, but for now $4 is about the best we can do. 🙂

Thrash, thanks for taking the time to explain! 🙂

    • Darkdragon September 12, 2011, 10:49 PM

      Wish I could make a $100 order! 🙂
