LEGO Monster Fighters – video reviews

When rumors of a LEGO monster theme first started circulating, most LEGO fans didn’t know what to make of it; the whole idea sounded strange, and the preliminary images weren’t very impressive. However since the LEGO Monster Fighters sets were officially unveiled at the recent toy fairs, excitement about them quickly grew.

In the previous post about LEGO Monster Fighters  I shared with you a lot of pictures, details, and prices on each of the upcoming sets. You can check out the previous post here: 2012 LEGO Sets: LEGO Monster Fighters. In this post I will show you some video-footage of the sets, taken by FBTB.net. Enjoy! 😀

#9464 LEGO MONSTER FIGHTERS Vampire Hearse – Perhaps the feature I like most about the monster sets is the vehicles. The vampire hearse in this set is really amazing! And the special features are making it even more appealing for creatures of the night! 😈

#9466 LEGO MONSTER FIGHTERS The Mad Professor & His Monster – Another great vehicle in this set, and the mad professor’s laboratory is spooky to perfection! The light-brick is a great touch!

#9467 LEGO MONSTER FIGHTERS Ghost Train – Is this little wing-flapping, bone-covered train really scary or the cutest thing ever? Hard to decide! Love the ghosts too! 😛

#9468 LEGO MONSTER FIGHTERS Vampire Castle – Lots of great features in this castle of blood-suckers! And the modular design is a great feature to enhance reconfiguration and playability.

So, what do you think of the LEGO Monster Fighters? Is this a theme you are excited about or perhaps skip? Share your thoughts in the comment section below. And if you would like to see pictures of the other LEGO Monster Fighter sets released later this year, check out 2012 LEGO Sets: LEGO Monster Fighters. BOOO!!! Be scared! 😈

Coz, yeah, of course they are coming out. 😀
They are scheduled to be released this summer/fall. So unless the world comes to an end, they will be available fairly soon! 😉

I have kinda mixed opinions on monster fighters, but they are overall positive. I will say, though, that with only looking at the pictures, the smallest set is my favorite because of the swamp monster. Save for it, , the female vampire, and the bat people, all the monster minifigs are something LEGO has done before (though possibly done slightly better this time, it still is a little early to tell). I have mixed opinions on the $10 set. The main problem is that most of the other monsters are, or feel like they could be found in eastern Europe. The mummy really feels out of place (though he might end up looking good all the same). Although I love the fact that the female protagonists is not only available in a $50+ set, I really don’t like her design that much. The cave woman hair, though an interesting use of it, doesn’t really look great off a cave woman (especially since they did not recolor it). Her clothes also feel very ragged which does not match the other protagonists and feels hard to use else where. As for sets in the Videos, I am not too sure about the Vampire castle, but I will likely pick it up unless I get confirmation that LEGO plans to make a Batman set with Man-Bat.

Jacob, your thoughtful review is greatly appreciated. I agree that the monsters are a real mismatch. Basically it seems like LEGO lumped together all the scary-creepy creatures it could think of into one theme. We still don’t know the story though, so that might make more sense out of the sets themselves. I basically look at these as Halloween sets and just leave it at that. 😛

I think the sets over all are pretty good. I will buy a few. I think it’s cool how they incorporate lots of previous minifig accsesorys

I currently own all 7 of the sets and I have to say that these are fantastic. I haven’t collected Legos in over 15 years, mostly because of the prices of them. But when I saw these in a Legos store in Chicago, I knew I had to have them. I bought the Castle first. It took me about 5 – 5 1/2 hours to put that together, but it was so much fun.

I’m patiently waiting for August 1st here in the states when we are supposed to get the Zombie Graveyard. Right now I only have the Zombie Driver. In September the Haunted House comes (September 1st according to Legos site). It will be the most expensive of the sets, but well worth it to have the complete set.

    Kudos to Lego.

John, thanks for sharing your “coming out of the dark-ages” story. Very inspiring! I think you will really enjoy the Haunted House as well. It is going to be a more challenging build, but with beautiful details – especially targeting adult LEGO fans. Have fun with your rediscovered hobby! 🙂
