New LEGO book: You Can Build It!

The LEGO book series YOU CAN BUILD IT by Twomorrows Publishing is a new ongoing series of instruction books on the art of LEGO custom building, from the producers of BrickJournal magazine. Spinning off from BrickJournal’s popular “You Can Build It” column, these full-color LEGO books are loaded with nothing but step-by-step instructions by some of the top custom LEGO builders in the LEGO fan community. 🙂

Book one of the LEGO book series is for beginning-to-intermediate builders, and features instructions for custom creations including Miniland figures, a fire-engine, Christmas ornaments, a street vignette, plus miniscale models from “a galaxy far, far away”, and more! This LEGO book is 84 pages, full color, paperback. You Can Build it – LEGO Book One is available here for $9.95 (currently on sale for $8.46). There is also a digital only edition for $3.95. You can download a PDF preview of LEGO Book One here.

Book two of the LEGO book series is for intermediate-to-advanced builders, with even more detailed projects to tackle, including advanced Miniland figures, a miniscale Yellow Castle, a deep-sea scene, a mini USS Constitution, and more! This LEGO book is also 84 pages, full color, paperback. You Can Build it – LEGO Book Two will be available September 28th. You can download a PDF preview of LEGO Book Two here.

Twomorrow’s Publishing is running a special right now on the first book in the series. If you don’t already have LEGO Book One of the You Can Build It series, you can order a bundle that contains Book One, plus two full LEGO sets (Tulip & Spacefighter kits), for only $20, so you’ll immediately have all the parts you need to build two of the LEGO projects. That bundle is available for ordering at this link: LEGO Book One Special Bundle

If you already have LEGO Book One, or just want to order the Tulip & Spacefighter kits separately, you can order the two sets together for only $10 at this link: LEGO Tulip & Spacefighter Kits

So if you’re ready to go beyond the standard LEGO sets available in stores and move into custom building with the LEGO bricks you already own, this ongoing LEGO book series will quickly take you from novice to expert builder, teaching you key LEGO building techniques along the way! What do you think? Share your thought below! 😉

I got my first Brick Journal, the super hero issue recently. I like the You can build it column. There were a Batwing and Batmobile instructions in that issue. The bundle with the kits is tempting.
I really want the Minifigure Customization: Populate Your World! book. The question is do I get it now or wait till the convention in Memphis in November.

Wow. These look really cool. may have to order them…

Can you get back issues of Brick Journal any where?

I’m an avid reader of twomorrows magazines and books. Their digital issues are really cheap and in pdf form. The minifigure customization book is cool, so is the build-it volume 1.

If you like comics (and who doesn’t) try Backissue (looks at comics/stories about comics from 1960-1995) or Alter Ego (looks at the men behind comics and thier stories). There are 2 incredible books called Marvel in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Also Road to Independence is a great book looking at the history of Image comics.

    These really are great books.
