LEGO Modular Palace Cinema coming!

Great news for LEGO Modular Building fans and collectors; the next LEGO Modular Building has been revealed, thanks to Eurobricks member GRogall. The set is the #10232 LEGO Modular Palace Cinema. Take a look at it below. (Click on image for larger view.)

As you can see the Palace Cinema is a corner building, making it the 3rd corner building in the LEGO Modular Building series. (The other two are the #10182 LEGO Modular Cafe Corner and the #10211 LEGO Modular Grand Emporium). And overall it is the 8th building in the series.

Some noteworthy features of the LEGO Cinema are as follows (at least the ones we can detect from the picture); the roof built of 1×1 round bricks and plates in red and dark red looks awesome! The brick-built sign spelling out the cinema’s name; PALACE (although I’m not sure I like the mixed upper and lower-case letters). A nice combination of tan and dark tan for the walls – one can never get enough of those pieces! Movie-posters at the front – I really hope these are not stickers! Floodlights, a black convertible (at least I think it’s a convertible), and at least 6 minifigures.

The LEGO Cinema has an overall Chinese style that some LEGO fans assume are inspired by Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Note the same curve at the center tower, similar colors and other similar details.

Also note the EXPERT logo at the upper right corner of the image. LEGO started to categorize all large sets that are not part of a theme and intended for more experienced builders as Expert Builder sets this year. For currently available LEGO Modular Buildings check out the Online LEGO Shop:

I’m so curious to see the inside of the LEGO Modular Palace Cinema, but unfortunately this is the only picture we have at this point. Hopefully more will be revealed soon! What do you think? How do you like this latest addition of the LEGO Modular Buildings line? And which one is your favorite LEGO Modular Building so far? Would love to hear your opinion! 😉

I would say one of the best so far!

      Same here!

I love this! I have a feeling that it will contain stickers though. If they are printed, they would be very awesome. I’m definitely getting this and keeping it, just not sure if I like the whole Chinese look. I might modify the tall spire to make it shorter and remove the upside down arches and use a newer-looking car to fit in my modern city. Or making it a non-corner building might be really fun too. But either way, this is a great set! Can’t wait to see the inside. Going to Brick Fair Alabama next month, and hoping this set and the new collectible minifigs will be at Lego store there. Any idea on the release date?

Andy, no news on the release date, but Modulars tend to be released around April/May, if I remember correctly. I’m really curious to see how this one looks next to the other Modulars. It definitely has a somewhat different style, but than again; it is a cinema, and cinemas often have a different stlye to stand out. Making it a non-corner building would actually be really interesting. I would like to see that! Have fun at Brickfair! Let us know what you find! 😉

YES! Just got late Christmas money and am so getting this!

  • Sam, ninja of water December 30, 2012, 12:57 PM

Wait, Admin, how much do you think that this set will be? I mean, at first I thought that it would be $150, but then I thought about the new City Hall, and this set could have as many pieces as that! What do you think?

    • admin December 30, 2012, 3:16 PM

Good question, Sam. At this point we can only guess. I’m also thinking it would be $150, although as you say, it may have as many pieces as the Town Hall. But the Town Hall is an unusually large building. I think the Cinema is more in line with the other Modulars as far as size. Also, I have heard people complaining about the size and price of the Town Hall. The other modulars were all $150, and it seems like that is what most LEGO fans are willing to pay. So, if LEGO is listening, they would likely go back to the $150 price range. Maybe the Town Hall was a test to see if we are willing to pay more. 😉

Agreed. This set looks much smaller than the Town Hall. It should be around $149. Hopefully…

YES! I just got the fire brigade modular for x-mas, and im gonna try to collect all the modular buildings and this is perfect for a corner

    • admin December 30, 2012, 3:17 PM

You can get four of the modulars right now, but good luck getting the previous ones. The prices are in the thousands. Pretty crazy. 😕

      • Eric at a LEGO a Day January 2, 2013, 9:30 AM

It is crazy. I would sell my unopened Green Grocer for sure if the price was right. Or if I could trade it for a UCS Falcon…

I have never tried something like this before but I am going to try it. It looks so awesome! That is going on my list too,but my wallet is going to be empty after all these cool sets coming in 2013. 🙁

  • ryanbrockie January 1, 2013, 10:36 AM

when will ninjago seson 4 be out??

    • admin January 1, 2013, 10:43 AM

Ryan, there is no news about a Season 4. At this point we can’t even know for sure if there is going to be one. All we know is that LEGO announced they are planning to continue the Ninjago theme in some form. If at all possible please ask questions about Ninjago in the Ninjago section. This is about the Modular Buildings. Thanks! 🙂

  • Paul January 3, 2013, 12:57 PM

I love it! I’ve been building the Modular Houses since the Green Grocer, and this set looks to be just as much fun. I’ll have to save the Lego giftcards I got at Christmas now. 🙂 I’m hoping this one is at the $150 price point as well. There could be some logic pointing to the Town Hall being the only tall building in the set. Town Halls are typically built to stand out, so hopefully all of the other Modulars will be “smaller.”

My current favorite is the Grand Emporium. Hopefully this new corner set will be just as awesome!

    • admin January 3, 2013, 1:10 PM

Paul, yeah, we all hope the price will be $150 like the other, smaller modulars. I think it is possible. Although recently LEGO started to get more agressive with pricing and even raised prices on some recently released sets. It seems they are trying to get as much as they can. The good thing is that we always have Amazon as an alternative for shopping if LEGO prices get too outrageous. 😉

Here are some more pictures; unfortunatly they still aren’t too big…

    • admin January 4, 2013, 9:42 AM

Nice! I think it is time for another post on this! I particularly like the picture where it shows the cinema next to the other modulars. I was wondering how it would look as it has a somewhat different style. But it looks great! I also like the inside. Especially those seats! I’m glad LEGO went that direction instead of just using the standard moulded seats. Old cinemas have folding seats like that. Great attention to detail! 😀

This set was just officially released by Kevin Hinkle, a Lego employee, at Brick Fair Alabama where I’m attending. It’s USD $149.99 and will be released in March!

    • admin January 19, 2013, 11:09 AM

Andy, yes, thanks for sharing that. I already wrote a post about the official press-release and will publish it tomorrow (Sunday). 😉
