Build your own LEGO robot: LEGO WALL-E

Do you remember the 2008 Pixar animated film WALL-E? The little trash-compactor robot stole our hearts with its curious nature and endearing personality. Today I would like to show you a LEGO version of WALL-E –ย just as cute as the original, and you can easily build one yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚

LEGO WALL-E by Miro

The LEGO version of WALL-E is created by LEGO-fan Miro, and includes all the key features of the little robot; the simple square shape, all-terrain treads, the shovel-hands, and binocular eyes are all there.

Cute, isn’t it? Miro actually included step-by-step instructions for his LEGO WALL-E, so you can easily build your own. You can find the instructions at Miro’s flickr gallery here. Also, you may want to visit Miro’s BrickLink shop, as he regularly puts together and releases kits with all the LEGO elements needed to build your own WALL-E, in case you don’t have all the parts needed. The kits only costs a few dollars. Just look under Custom Items in his BrickLink shop called The Brick Corner.

Just for fun, Miro also created other versions of WALL-E sporting various colors. You may want to try that yourself also to build your army of trash-compactor robots for cleaning up the planet.

What do you think? How do you like this little LEGO WALL-E? Have you built one yet? Are there any other LEGO WALL-E creations that you really like? Feel free to share in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

UPDATE: This is just a note to expect some downtime before the end of the week. We are being transferred to a new server and datacenter. Hopefully the downtime will be minimal. If you have trouble reaching the site or have any questions you can contact me by email, twitter, facebook, or google+ (links are in the upper left corner, so best if you mark them now). Now back to talking about LEGO… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I LOVE Miro’s Wall-E’s ๐Ÿ™‚

    • admin March 25, 2014, 10:28 AM

Yeah, me too! I actually built myself one for this article just to see how easy is to follow the instructions. He is right here on my desk. ๐Ÿ˜€

I would build him but I don’t have the right peices. I have tons of Lego but I do not have three of the peices (unless I used peices from Kai’s fire mech but I am not a fan of taking apart my lego sets to build with the peices)

Isn’t that part of the idea? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ha, I like that. Although I like BURN-E better than Wall-E. ๐Ÿ˜€ I want to make that robot in the last pic that’s cleaning up after Wall-E.
My brother is currently building one w/ the instructions, it’s a very clever design, but I note the “illegal techniques” it requires, which limits its usefulness. ๐Ÿ˜ Overall very good though! ๐Ÿ˜‰

yea, I manna build Mo as well, he is aweshum!!

    • Miro March 25, 2014, 1:21 PM

Thank you all for liking my creation.
Regarding the “illegal connection” you refer to, which would be attachment of the lower track assembly to the top wheel. Well, there was other way that I saw to by-pass it. Actually, the final design in the step-by-step instructions uses as slightly modified workaround by pushing up WALL-E 1 plate higher to prevent an sliding of the top assembly with the help of the bracket (not shown in pictures above). The final design is shown in the multi-color picture shown in the blog. Also shown in this short stop-motion-animation video clip I made:

Oops. Meant to say “no” other way that I liked.

I think Miro is working on BURN-E too, also EVE. I have also built my own WALL-E using the instrutions. For mine I changed the hands with clip-plates, so he can hold a little plant. Yes, there are some illegal techniques, but I don’t think it matters. It is perfectly legal to use illegal techniques in your own LEGO creations.

    what about eeevaaaa

  • Strider March 25, 2014, 6:30 PM

Nice build. As for illega techniques…so long as Legompieces are not in danger of being broken there is nothing
    wrong about them.

    • admin March 26, 2014, 9:59 AM

Yes, that’s my take on illegal techniques as well. Actually I’m planning to write an article about illegal techniques as there are many that LEGO fans may have never even considered as being illegal. I recently learned about some I use all the time and I was very surprised to learn that LEGO designers are not allowed to use them.

Sounds curious. I’ll look forward to reading that one.
