Custom LEGO Dragon Sword Fighter Force

LEGO customizer CitizenBrick just came out with a whole range of custom LEGO minifigures I couldn’t wait to show you. As we have mentioned before (see link at the end of this post) CitizenBrick specializes in custom printed LEGO elements and minifigures – in fact, they use the same printing method LEGO uses, so the quality and durability of the pieces is excellent! 🙂

Custom LEGO Game of Thrones Minifigures by CitizenBrick

The custom printed LEGO minifigures in this series is named “The Dragon Sword Fighter Force”; fully printed, gorgeously detailed minifigs with included capes, armor, weapons, etc. – all in collectors’ packs. Below is the official description of these minifigures. Any resemblance to Game of Thrones characters is purely coincidental. 🙄

Custom LEGO Game of Thrones Minifigs by CitizenBrick

“Dragons! Knights! Totally inappropriate family relations! Join the adventure as these brave fighters cross swords with some of the most fearsome foes in the realm. Whether defending their kingdom or clamoring for the crown, these minifigs are ready for a battle royale to the death. Horde the complete series of stunning figs before every character you like is killed off. Your honor is at stake!”

“Citizen Brick is proud to unveil our most ambitions effort to date – The Dragon Sword Fighter Force! Four different sets of three minifigs packaged in full color blister cards. Every sets comes with crazy detailing: uniquely pad-printed body parts, weapons, and custom cloth elements. Best of all, purchase all four sets at once and get a 13th bonus minifig (while supplies last).”

So as you can see, the complete custom LEGO minifig series includes all 12 DSFF characters plus the bonus minifig “Sir Typesalot”. The price for the whole set is $220 – yeah, quite a bit, but they are actually cheap compared to other professionally printed minifigures (the avarage price is usually around $25, these are only $18). If you only want to get some of the characters, packets of three minifigures in each are also available for $55 a pack. You can get them at CitizenBrick.com.

Although these minifigures are fully play-ready as the printing is very durable (see my previous review linked at the end of this post), I believe they will mostly appeal to collectors who want the best of the best. Game of Thrones fans should be falling all over these. Personally I love the printing on the minifigs and I’m considering picking up a few. They would perfectly fit in any LEGO medieval or fantasy setting.

What do you think? How do you like these custom printed LEGO minifigures by CitizenBrick? Which one is your favorite? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

First comment! I like Frosty the Deadman 👿

    • admin April 8, 2014, 10:28 AM

Me too! He is one of my most favorites! 😛

    • Lloydguy April 8, 2014, 3:44 PM

I did 👿 because his name looks like a villain and so does his body

      • Lloydguy April 8, 2014, 6:13 PM

I meant name sounds and body looks

  • LK901 April 8, 2014, 10:33 AM

I must say I prefer the stuff LEGO does, and for 55 we should get the entire packet…….

  • Strider April 8, 2014, 10:42 AM

King Aayhole? ( Heh heh heh….) ? LOL for the GOT reference. (I don’t watch but I’ve heard about it and I actually thought of it when I saw the minifigures. I would like to watch it but it seems to be inappropiate on more levels then medieval violence :/. Unlike <?:-)8

    • Håkan April 10, 2014, 11:28 AM

For HBO shows, inappropriateness is a selling point… 😉

  • Strider April 8, 2014, 10:44 AM

Even though Doctor Who doesn’t really have medieval violence so it doesn’t go with what I was saying really well…I’m just really anxious to seize Doctor Who referencing points :P.

OH YEAAAAAHHHH!!! I love Game of Thrones… LOL… these are pretty awesome!!! I do want the Calisi minifigure!!! But I doubt a non-official minifigure is a good investment for that price… I’m all for investing in offcial pieces like my $25 golden Knight

  • legodude19 April 8, 2014, 11:24 AM

Those names are incredibly hilarious. 😀

But aside from that, I’m just in any sort of market for spending close to 20 bucks per fig. 🙁

    • admin April 8, 2014, 11:33 AM

Professional pad-printing is still quite expensive – thus the price. Hopefully cost for pad-printing will come down and customizers can make more affordable minifigures. I own a couple of minifigs from EclipseGRAFX and CitizenBrick and they are gorgeous. However I can’t afford getting a whole lot of them either at the current prices.

  • Beardless Dwarf April 8, 2014, 11:26 AM

They look pretty good. Some of them almost look like LEGO did the figures themselves. I’m not allowed to watch Game of Thrones so I can’t say how accurate they are but they still look good. I like the funny names they gave the characters. 🙂

    • Strider April 8, 2014, 11:30 AM

Wait, are they really from GOT?

      • Beardless Dwarf April 8, 2014, 11:54 AM

I think they’re supposed to resemble characters from GOT…I really don’t know though because, like I said above, I’m not allowed to watch it.

        • Strider April 8, 2014, 12:03 PM

Yeah we wouldn’t be either, (my siblings and me.) And looking back on them the minifigures do seem similiar.

        • Håkan April 8, 2014, 1:50 PM

As mentiøned in the article, the similarity to Game Øf Thrønes is purely cøincidental, and nøt at all a simple marketing gimmick.

P.S. As befitting my Nørwegian heritage, I whøleheartedly apprøve øf the løve shøwn før the pøørly appreciated letter Ø (and alsø prønøunce it accørdingly).

          • admin April 8, 2014, 1:55 PM

            LOL! 😆 😆 😆

            • admin April 8, 2014, 1:57 PM

By the way, how do you pronounce that fancy O thingy?

              • Håkan April 8, 2014, 4:07 PM

Well, it’s a mid-front rounded vowel (which is a term that probably doesn’t say much to non-linguists), but as an approximation the vowel in “bird” should suffice…

Think of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets… Or Clouseau from the Pink Panther…

                • Strider April 8, 2014, 4:11 PM

I know the article said that but I thought Admin mighy have been being sarcastic. And if these were not even in the slightest bit inspired by Game of Thrones…I would be shocked. I just wasn’t sure if the resemblence was on purpose or simply inspired.

                  • Strider April 8, 2014, 4:14 PM

And from all the other comments it seems like it is not purely coincidental.

                    • Håkan April 8, 2014, 7:03 PM

                      I’m just gøøfing øff!

To avoid any legal problems with trademark infingements, the company goes around actual trademarks by using allusions and indirect references. If HBO would take the matter up in court, the defense likely wouldn’t hold water, though, but I guess the limited distribution and commercial gain of the product makes CB a too small fish to waste their legal department on.

                    • admin April 9, 2014, 10:26 AM

Yeah, too small fish to fry. Although I have heard that there are some gaming companies who are totally fanatical about not allowing any kind of fan art. Like not even publicly sharing pictures and fan projects, even if it is not for money. So it just depends on the company.

                  • Håkan April 9, 2014, 5:18 AM

By the way, I’m sorry to have misspelled “tø” above.

          • lego ff April 8, 2014, 5:18 PM

Norway is awsome! I’m studying it in school.

            • Håkan April 9, 2014, 5:19 AM

Yeah, that’s where my father’s side of the family is from.

Quite an expensive place to buy Lego, though.

          • Lloydguy April 8, 2014, 6:17 PM

they have it in Danish, a language I’m learning

            • Håkan April 9, 2014, 5:32 AM

Held og lykke! Any particular reason?

(I’ve read a lot of comics in Danish, since they haven’t been translated to Swedish, but embarrassingly enough I had to google that phrase. My knowledge of Danish is rather passive…)

  • Beardless Dwarf April 8, 2014, 12:12 PM

Oh I didn’t see the prices….this is why I don’t buy custom minifigures…I just do them myself!

  • BLProductions April 8, 2014, 12:23 PM

Those names are hilarious. Frosty the Deadman… 😀
Though they do come with nice hair pieces and weapons, a lot of those don’t really interest me. But those prices! 😮 I will not be getting any anyways b/c I’m currently in a very tight budget; I can’t decide whether to buy some smaller things or continue my quest for my 3 most wanted big sets. 😕
Also, did anyone notice that Frosty the Deadman looks like a blue Uruk-hai? lol 😀
And the SW Sandcrawler’s up on Lego Shop, coming May 3rd to the US.

  • ninja of stealth April 8, 2014, 12:32 PM

whoa, fifty-five bucks? usually minifigures are three dollars, so maybe they should be five dollars per minifig, ten at the most. and it would have been more cool if you could pick three that you want. that’s just my opinion. but other than that these are super awesome minifigs! 😎

  • Tom April 8, 2014, 12:56 PM

At $18 a figure they really arent that expensive. Think how much rare minifigs go for. Series 1 zombie is easily $40 and the same for santa yoda to name just two. So if you put it that way (and there will be less of these than mr Golds I reckon) the price isn’t too bad.

Also I’ve paid close to $60 for 4 original jawas to use as monks so again not too crazy. Still you would have to be really into GOT to get these but they are awesome!

    • admin April 8, 2014, 1:53 PM

Jawas as monks! Nice idea! 😀

      • Tom April 8, 2014, 2:22 PM

Saw it as a suggestion on eurobricks and had to do it!

It worked well for a MOC I was doing at the time. Sadly I sold them and need another three. Only now they are more like £25 (so $33ish) each before shipping.

I do like these… but dont have £170 plus shipping to UK spare…

        • admin April 8, 2014, 2:25 PM

Yeah, I was eyeing those Jawas for a long time too on BrickLink, but prices never came down, so after some time I just took them off my Wanted List… sadly…

      • ninja of stealth April 9, 2014, 12:17 PM

that’s a pretty good point tom. thanks! ( were talking to me right?)

        • Tom April 10, 2014, 4:51 AM

Yes I was. I am currently building a large middle eastern minifig collection with the intention of doing a medieval bazaar. Most of the minifigs are either from indiana jones sets and $6-8 each or prince of persia figs at the same price. However the camels are $13 each and the elephants are more like $45 each.

Also for some castle minifigs (my real passion) you can easily pay $15-$20 per figure if they are old/rare!

With custom prints it will be small numbers so its hard to compare prices with regular minifigs. As the admin said though as the machinery gets cheaper the price should come down which is a good thing for us all 🙂

  • Kim April 8, 2014, 1:28 PM

These are so cool! After I finally get my town set up going (who even knows when that will be) I want to work on a castle set up next. These would be awesome. Maybe by that time they’ll be cheaper XD

    • admin April 8, 2014, 1:55 PM

Kim, I’m really hoping that will be the case as far as prices. In fact it is already happening. Previously only 1-2 costomizers were able to afford a pad-printing machine, and custom printed minifigs were in the 50-100 dollar range. That was just 2-3 years ago!

      • Kim April 8, 2014, 1:59 PM

In the same vein, I’ve been tempted or rather have on my someday wish list a 3D printer so maybe I could make some custom Lego compatible pieces. But that’s a long way away for me.

        • admin April 8, 2014, 2:09 PM

My understanding is that although 3D printers are great for making prototypes (in fact LEGO uses one in their parts development), they won’t ever look like a moulded piece like LEGO. As you know, with 3D printing they start with a chunk of plastic and they basically shave away the excess to reveal the part you designed. So the surface will remain rough compared to a moulded element.

However 3D printers are very precise and are great for making prototypes, and perhaps you could couple it with resin-casting which can produce very similar results to ABS plastic. I have some beautiful resin-cast custom LEGO minifigure accessories made by Arealight. You really can’t tell the difference from plastic and you can easily and fairly cheaply do it at home. The issue with resin-casting was creating the prototype. The two technologies could work together quite nicely, I would say. 😉

  • Lorca Strand April 8, 2014, 2:59 PM

I like the name “Dragon Sword Fighter Force”. What a nice way to keep HBO lawyers out of the kingdom.

  • Majestic Kai Fan April 8, 2014, 4:08 PM

I like the minifigures, they are neat, however I wouldn’t pick them up because I’m not a fan of Game of Thrones

  • Fikko3107 April 15, 2014, 9:20 PM

I don’t even watch Game of Thrones or read the Song of Fire and Ice it was based on, but even for me, the inspiration is ridiculously blatant.

I don’t watch a lot of TV recently. The only Live-Action TV show I actively and avidly watch is Arrow, and even then I haven’t touched Season 2 and I watch it on my Laptop.
