LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler video-review

One of the largest LEGO Star Wars sets released recently is the #75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler. We have talked about the set several times before (see links at the end of this post), however if you haven’t seen it personally it’s hard to see all the details and features, and just how big this set truly is. On of our favorite LEGO reviewers JANGBRiCKS recently got this set and have posted a full video-review. Besides seeing the set in person, this is the next best thing to really experience this set. So let’s take a look! 🙂

#75059 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler Box

#75059 LEGO STAR WARS SANDCRAWLER: As you probably know already, there was an earlier version of this set, the #10144 LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler released back in 2005, and it is interesting to see all the improvements LEGO has done in the new release. Watch the video-review below to appreciate all the features.

Pretty epic for a giant ugly dumpster isn’t it? Love all the little cubbies and hiding places! Also, here is the official description for your convenience: Collect a true icon of the classic Star Wars universe – the mighty Sandcrawler! Recreate unforgettable scenes from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope with this amazing LEGO incarnation of the Jawas’ desert-going vehicle, the Sandcrawler. Turn the knob at the rear and steer the Sandcrawler into position, lower the front ramp and offload the droids using the 2 working cranes. Luke Skywalker and his Uncle, Owen Lars, are sure to be impressed with the selection on offer: there’s R2-D2, an R1-series Droid, an R2 unit, R5-D4, a Treadwell Droid, Gonk Droid and even C-3PO. When the sale is complete, lift the side panels and top to reveal more great features inside, like the engine, storage bay, cockpit and more. There’s even a speeder bike for when the Jawas need to venture outside. 3296 pieces. Price: $299.99. Available right now at the Online LEGO Shop.

What a cool LEGO set! Although I’m not considering buying it, it looks great for LEGO Star Wars fans, and very handy for those who need more bricks of that kind for their MOCs! 🙂 Great set!!!

Great review! Solid Brix Studios also has review of it. That one is also great. 😉

Yeah, I saw that review too. Also, the BrickShow has a side-by-side review with the old version, which is also very interesting.

I kind of want to get this, but I think I’m gonna go more for the Ninjago Battle set, I really want Zane! But I think many die-hard Lego and SW fans will get this. 😉
My biggest problem is Luke’s face printing, does anyone else think the smile makes him look…evil? And why does he come w/ a lightsaber? 😕

    • admin May 18, 2014, 4:09 PM

Those are good questions; especially about the lightsaber. Also, I have heard others mentioning that the face-printing on both Luke and Owen are a bit over the top with details, giving them a weird and non-LEGO-ish expression.

Yeah, and the 2014 Han Solo has the same kind of printing: a creepy smirk on one side, an angry/neutral face on the other.

this is really cool but I think I’m going to save up for the Ewok village.

I Want the Ewok Village, but I want the Sandcrawler…What should I get?

    • admin May 25, 2014, 10:43 AM

That’s a tough one as both are great sets. I would say that the Ewok Village has significantly better play-value though. You get an entire village that you can use to play out SW scenes, or even change it to a forest for rangers or fantasy creatures. If I would have to make a choice between the two, I would pick the village. 😉
