LEGO Store Calendar – December offers

We are a few days late talking about the LEGO Store Calendar for December, but since we have talked about various holiday sales and deals recently (see links at the end of this post), I wanted to give our readers a break with some other topics. However I didn’t want to disappoint those either who were looking forward to the December LEGO Store Calendar. 🙂

LEGO Store Calendar December 2014

We have already discussed previously that the free exclusive this month was the 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar, which includes a few coupons and exclusive offers inside, but nothing really special. Kind of sad that this was the best offer LEGO could come up with for December. They should have really switched it with the second offer, which was only valid on Black Friday weekend; the second LEGO Holiday Set. If you wanted this set I hope you had a chance to get it before the offer expired.

LEGO Store Calendar December Details

One important and helpful notice on the calendar is that if you would like to receive your order by Christmas you should place it no later than December 16th noon EST with Standard Mail. Or if you wait until the last minute, you can request Express Mail and place your order as late as December 22nd noon EST, but expect to pay a lot more for shipping. To give you an idea, a $100 order will ship free with Standard Mail (as LEGO offers free shipping on all orders over $75), but for Express Mail you have to pay. For a $100 that would be $27.95. (YOu can see the full shipping chart here.) So it is much better to place your order as soon as possible, get free shipping, and have your order arrive on time.

LEGO Store Calendar December Specials

The back of the December LEGO Store Calendar has some suggestions for gifts, including stocking-stuffers and gift ideas under $15. You might find these helpful in your shopping. We have talked about some great LEGO sets for the holidays already (see links at the end of this post) and you can also find more detailed suggestions at the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop LEGO Ultimate Gift List

Then there is also a teaser for the upcoming 2015 LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, The LEGO Movie, and LEGO Disney Princess sets that will be available in January. I’m really looking forward to these as some very nice sets are scheduled for early next year. So don’t spend all your money now, save some for January too!

LEGO 2015 Sets Coming

Based on what we have seen in the past few years, November definitely seems to be the best time to shop for LEGO, especially larger exclusives that are only available directly from LEGO. The Double VIP Points period just can’t be beaten, and in November most sets are still readily available, so you won’t run into your favorite set being out of stock. Last year there was also a Triple VIP Points and free shipping on all orders offer, but that was only for one day, and it was also in November. So this is just something you may want to keep in mind for future years.

Shop LEGO Holiday Guide

I think I’m done talking about holiday shopping for a while and we can get back to other topics. We will however revisit the subject one more time before the end of the year, because LEGO usually runs a significant clearance sale right after Christmas. It is a sale that happens very fast and you have to be on top of it, but you can get some great sets LEGO wants to clear out before the new year. So what do you think? Have you done all your LEGO shopping for the holidays already? Did you find great deals? What was your best find? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Man, I don’t see anything about the new Ninjago sets.

Benjamin, they are not scheduled for release until January, although LEGO may decide to list them a bit earlier. If I remember correctly last year they released the 2015 wave at the last week of December. 😉

I actually purchased the LEGO Ninjago Kai Fighter at my local LEGO store on the third week of November 😛

Speaking of Ninjago, for those who don’t know, I found out that it is confirmed that the next Ninjago episodes are coming out in march, and there will be ten episodes. I’m not sure if they will be released like the rebooted episodes (I hope not, that was torture! especially living in the US and being the one’s to see it last!) or like the rise of the snakes season.

      Oh, not until March? 😕

Well i guess it is a B-Day present from LEGO 😉

I heard the TV show should be released on January 18th, 2015.

I heard that too, but then I also heard it is March, so I’m really not sure any more. 😕

Hey, I have an off topic question about using licensed content or other professional artist’s content in Lego videos. Like, if you use a famous artists song or characters in a Lego video, are there legal issues that or only if you were attempting to gain money from it? Like, I know Brotherhood Workshop uses LOTR and Harry Potter but I wasn’t sure if that was ok because they are part of Lego and it would fall under Lego’s fair use policy or if in general its ok because they are not seeking to profit from the videos. If you don’t know, is there someone that you know would know? I just find myself listening to music sometimes and thinking it would be cool in a stop motion video should I ever decide to experiment with that.

Kim, I can ask that for you. I’m in touch with Kevin from the BrotherhoodWorkshop on a regular basis. I’m out of town right now, but I will be back by Monday and ask him. 🙂

For a song, that should be completely irrelevant of Lego’s policies, but depending on the holders of the rights.

        Cool! Thank you!

I think I just had a brilliant idea for a lego stop motion I was thinking that I could make a lego clash of clans when the new collectable mini figures come out because the goblin is just perfect for something like that.

Are they still doing the offer where you get a little pick-a-brick box (it looked like a Christmas present last year) if you spend a certain amount? I haven’t seen anything about it. They did it the past couple of years, and it was a great offer–the total volume equaled about a large cup.

    • admin December 8, 2014, 11:14 PM

Bill, unfortunately that program has been discontinued and replaced with the free calendar. 😕
