And here is the day we have been all waiting for! Yes, it is the beginning of a new year; which means an opportunity for new plans, new projects, new resolutions, and a fresh new start in all areas of our lives. And if LEGO is in your plans, our favorite company is definitely on our side by starting the new year with a whole range of exciting new LEGO sets. So let’s see all the awesome new sets and special offers this month! 🙂

LEGO January Calendar

2015 LEGO STAR WARS NEW SETS & FREE POLYBAG: The first wave of 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets are now available! This includes the highly anticipated #75060 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Slave 1, the new collection of LEGO Star Wars MicroFighters, the #75081 LEGO Star Wars T-16 Skyhopper, the #75082 LEGO Star Wars TIE Advanced Prototype, the #75083 LEGO Star Wars AT-DP, the #75084 LEGO Star Wars Wookiee Gunship, the #75085 LEGO Star Wars Hailfire Droid, the #75087 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Custom Jedi Starfighter and more!

#75060 LEGO Star Wars Slave I

As we have discussed previously LEGO is planning for a very strong year for LEGO Star Wars, preparing for the new movie at the end of the year, and even in between they are planning to give us some great sets. As you can see January is definitely full of great LEGO Star Wars sets. Especially the LEGO Star Wars Slave 1 is a beauty! To sweeten the deal, LEGO is offering a free exclusive #30274 LEGO Star Wars AT-DP polybag that is available with any LEGO Star Wars purchase during the month. You can find all the 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Star Wars

2015 LEGO CREATOR SETS & FREE POLYBAG: Several of the 2015 LEGO Creator sets have already been available at the end of December, but the biggest and most exciting one just got released! It is the #10246 LEGO Creator Detective’s Office, the latest in the LEGO Modular Buildings line. We have reviewed this set a couple of days ago (see link at the end of this post), and I highly recommend it. There are also a few smaller sets in the LEGO Creator line that look really nice; the #31035 LEGO Creator Beach Hut, and the #31036 LEGO Creator Toy 7 Grocery Shop.

#10246 LEGO Modular

Here also, to sweeten the deal, LEGO is offering a free polybag, in the form of the free exclusive #40140 LEGO Creator Flower Cart on orders over $75 (doesn’t have to be only LEGO Creator, and can be combined with other specials – offer is good for the entire month). This is a perfect addition to the LEGO Creator Detective’s Office and it even adds to the smuggling operation story. You can find the LEGO Creator Detective’s Office as well as the other 2015 sets at the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Creator

2015 LEGO BIONICLE SETS: Yes, BIONICLE is back, and all the new sets have been released today! This is such a historic event for LEGO BIONICLE fans, and it helps that the new sets look great! You might also want to visit the official LEGO BIONICLE website for more information on the new saga, and you can find all the new BIONICLE sets at the LEGO BIONICLE section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Bionicle

2015 LEGO IDEAS SET: The first in the LEGO fan created sets this year is #21301 LEGO Ideas Birds. We have discussed this set previously (see link at the end of this post), and I believe it is going to be very popular with parents, teachers, birdwatchers, nature-lovers and kids. A real winning design. Also note that the #21109 LEGO Ideas Exo Suit is now back in stock (at least it is at the time of this writing – it is quite possible that it will be sold out again very fast). You can find LEGO Birds and other LEGO fan created models at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Ideas

2015 LEGO LEGENDS OF CHIMA SETS: This wave of LEGO Legends of Chima has a couple of nice bigger sets like the #70233 LEGO Legends of Chima Icebite’s Claw Driller, the #70224 LEGO Legends of Chima Tiger’s Mobile Command, and the #70228 LEGO Legends of Chima Vultrix’s Sky Scavenger, but what is even more exciting is the Tribe Packs. These are small, $10 sets with three minifigures and some very nice accessories – a great way to build up your Legends of Chima armies without having to buy the bigger sets. You can find all the 2015 sets at the LEGO Legends of Chima section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Legends of Chima

2015 LEGO SUPER HEROES DC COMICS SETS: A brand new wave of LEGO DC Comics sets have just been released. It is not a big wave, but nonetheless it is exciting. It includes #76025 LEGO Super Heroes Green Lantern vs. Sinestro, #76026 LEGO Super Heroes Gorilla Grodd goes Bananas, #76027 LEGO Super Heroes Black Manta Deep Sea Strike, #76028 LEGO Super Heroes Darkseid Invasion, and #76040 LEGO Super Heroes Brainiac Attack. You can find all the 2015 LEGO Super Heroes sets at the LEGO DC Comics section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Super Heroes

2015 THE LEGO MOVIE SETS: This is a small, but very well thought out wave of The LEGO Movie sets. It includes pretty much everything what LEGO fans wanted; small sets that includes some of the most important characters, more variations for Unikitty, and the iconic double-decker couch that previously only appeared in a very expensive set. I expect that these sets will sell out very soon. You can find all the 2015 sets at The LEGO Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 The LEGO Movie

2015 LEGO DISNEY PRINCESS SETS: This is a very strong wave of LEGO Disney Princess with some gorgeous sets. I would say the best LEGO has released so far. There is the #41060 LEGO Disney Princess Sleeping Beauty’s Royal Bedroom, the #41061 LEGO Disney Princess Jasmine’s Exotic Palace, the #41060 LEGO Disney Prince’s Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle, and the #41060 LEGO Disney Princess Ariel’s Undersea Palace. You can find all of them at the LEGO Disney Princess section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Disney Princess

2015 LEGO FRIENDS SETS & FREE POLYBAG: This is another theme with a very strong start for the year. The #41094 LEGO Friends Heartlake Lighthouse, the #41095 LEGO Friends Emma’s House, and the #41097 LEGO Friends Hearlake Hot Air Balloon are particularly nice. You will also get a free, exclusive #30203 LEGO Friends Mini Golf polybag with any LEGO Friends purchase. This offer is good for the entire month. You can find all of the 2015 LEGO Friends sets at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Friends

2015 LEGO CITY SETS: Several of the 2015 LEGO City sets have been available a couple of weeks early, but there are also some that were just released today. Most notably the LEGO City Swamp Police line. A nice collection with a different twist on the cops and robbers theme that is so much of a staple of LEGO City. You can find all the 2015 LEGO City sets at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO City

2015 LEGO CLASSIC SETS: There is also a new theme this year called LEGO Classic. Which is pretty much like the LEGO Creator basic bricks sets, but with more ideas and inspirations. They actually look really good and should silence those people who say that LEGO doesn’t offer basic sets (of course some people will never stop complaining – LEGO Creator has been offering basic sets like forever). You may want to check these sets out as they are excellent options for young builders. You can find this new line at the LEGO Classic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Classic

2015 LEGO TECHNIC SETS: Here also, some of the 2015 sets were released a bit early, however several of the new Technic vehicles became available just today, including the awesome #42037 LEGO Technic Formula Off-Roader, the #42038 LEGO Technic Arctic Truck, and the #42041 LEGO Technic Race Truck. You can find all the 2015 sets at the LEGO Technic section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Shop 2015 LEGO Technic

I know this is a lot to digest, so to recap, here are the special offers for the month. You will get a free exclusive LEGO Creator Flower Cart with any purchase over $75, a LEGO Star Wars AT-DP with any LEGO Star Wars purchase, and a free LEGO Friends Mini Golf Set with any LEGO Friends purchase. So, if you make a purchase over $75 and one of those sets is LEGO Star Wars or LEGO Friends, you will get two freebies – or even three if your order includes both LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends. And of course you will also get free shipping. And if you got the 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar that was offered previously, don’t forget to redeem the free LEGO Store Employee Minifigure coupon with any purchase during this month. Also, you might want to check the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop before you check out. There are some nice sets there with a good discount, and likely more will be added as they get retired.

Yes there is a lot coming out! So much to get. I just wanted to add a note about the series 13 minifigures that are also being released today.

    • admin January 1, 2015, 11:15 AM

Eric, thanks for mentioning that. I complitely forgot about those little guys amongst all the big sets! 😛

  • Jake January 1, 2015, 11:19 AM

Umm…why does it say they are out of stock on Shop@Home?

Sorry about the very long (and dysfunctional) link

        • admin January 1, 2015, 11:37 AM

Jake, they just do that to control the traffic and be able to keep up with orders. You can still place an order just fine. It just means there may be some delay in shipping. However in my experience they are very good at fulfilling your order within a few days even when there is a note like that. The earlier you order the most likely that you will get your order fulfilled fast. Once the first batch of sets is sold out however, they may be a real wait until the second shipment arrives. So I would suggest that you just order whatever you want now instead of waiting as it is first come first serve.

The only set I would be really worried about is Birds. It is a limited production LEGO Ideas set, so that could in fact sell out quite fast. The rest are normal production sets and should be available for at least a couple of years. Happy shoppin’! 😉

          • BLProductions January 1, 2015, 1:30 PM

“to control the traffic.” Last year I checked LEGO Shop at 12:01 am and they were all “available now.” I guess TLM really boosted LEGO’s popularity… but I’d like it if the sets said “available now,” the out of stock sign makes me nervous, as so many sets I wanted went from out of stock to sold out. 🙁
Also, the Exo-suit is “Temporarily out of stock” again. I’m so glad I got one in-store and not online. 🙂

            • admin January 1, 2015, 1:46 PM

Yes, the result of The LEGO Movie not just boosted LEGO’s traffic, it has been explosive. The website had several major crashes since then, which I assume was due to traffic because it almost always happened when a highly anticipated new set came out, and also around the holiday shopping season.

Also, the trend of putting new sets on an out of stock status or even sold out status has been happening in at least the past 6 months. But as I have mentioned before, the only set I would be nervous about is Birds. Everything else should be available again soon as they are regular sets and should be stocked for at least a couple of years.

LEGO factories run around the clock, but it is hard to keep up with demand with all the LEGO madness. They are working on it though. I read an interesting article in LEGO Life magazine on what it means when a LEGO factory has to expand or relocate, and at the same time also keep up production. There is a lot of logistics involved. But they are handling it the best it is humanly possible. They are not plotting to make LEGO fans upset or anything like that, even if sometimes it feels that way.

Also, there was a notice on LEGO’s FB page this morning that they faced some technical difficulties – I assume due to traffic. A lot of people stayed up past midnight to get the new sets and kept refreshing the page, which is exremely hard on servers. Or it could also be that the tech guys just had a bit too much champagne to celebrate the new year.

  • Chris of Yoda Archives January 1, 2015, 12:42 PM

So much cool new stuff. I want to go get it all.

    • admin January 1, 2015, 1:05 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean! I’m limiting myself though this year to just the sets I really-really want. I already have the Detective’s Office and Birds, and besides those I would like to get two of the The LEGO Movie sets, a couple of Disney sets, and maybe some Friends. And perhaps the SW MicroFighters – they are so cute! Otherwise I’m saving up for Elves in the spring. 😀

  • Håkan January 1, 2015, 1:29 PM

My biggest endorsement is for the Classic theme. Cheap sets with basic purplish pastel bricks. Long overdue.

    • admin January 1, 2015, 1:37 PM

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised about those too. The suggested models are also really fun.

  • BLProductions January 1, 2015, 1:35 PM

I’m looking to get the ARC-170 microfighter, and the T-16 Skyhopper (the last time we got one of those was like 2003!). But I’m saving my money for March, when I can get a build-a-minifig pack for free w/ any purchase… according to the calendar. Plus Ninjago and Speed Champions will be out then.
Also, the Arctic Truck 42038 is also on the City page of Shop US. That’s an odd hack. See: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/City-ByTheme (if the link works, that is) Weird. 😕

    • lloydguy January 1, 2015, 4:47 PM

I think its just one minifig, though yeah, I hope all 3. I saw a surfboard in my local minifig builder today.

      • Narrator_Bob January 2, 2015, 10:13 AM

It shows three minifigs in the picture on the coupon. Unfortunatly, I won’t be near a lego store in March.

  • ChocolateKhan January 1, 2015, 3:51 PM

When do the new Ninjago come out? They are what I’m really waiting for…

    • admin January 1, 2015, 3:52 PM

They are scheduled for March, so there is still a bit of a wait. 😉

      • LloydTheRulerOfNinjago January 1, 2015, 3:56 PM

Actually I talked to my local LEGO store cashier and he told me that the Ninjago 2015 sets would probably start showing up early February when the new TV show season starts in the US 😀

        • lloydguy January 1, 2015, 4:46 PM

The LEGO Club magazine said the tv show would be out in February, so hopefully by then. In related news, Niiin-Jaaaa, Gooooooo! 😀

        • admin January 1, 2015, 6:03 PM

That would be great! I know a lot of kids are waiting for them! 🙂

  • LK901 January 1, 2015, 4:16 PM

I just re-launched my LEGO forum in time for the New Year 🙂

We welcome new users, so check it out here: http://starbricks.hol.es

    • admin January 1, 2015, 6:04 PM

Running a forum is hard work. Good luck with it!

  • Strider January 1, 2015, 5:23 PM

I’m really excited for Bionicle, I think I’ll get all the Toa this year, and hopefully the Lord of Skull Spiders, (though, as a constraction villan he was a bit anti-climatic.) My favorite Toa is Kopaka, he looks awesome. I’m so happy that Bionicle is improving upon the Hero Factory designs, with the gear system and (albeit limited,) pieces of back armor. I never really realized how simple the original Bionicle dudes were until I compared them with the new ones. Also, I’m holding out for vehicles to have a place somewhere in the new Bionicle line. Maybe the second or third wave? Hero Factory got some bikes and Rocka had a Jetpack, but I want cool spacey stuff, like a speeder or even a mini ship.

    • lloydguy January 2, 2015, 9:28 AM

The Bara Magna arc had at least 3 vehicles, and, now that I think about it, Takanuva had a vehicle, so there is definitely hope. We’ll have to see how the story plays out. Maybe the Toa will need vehicles to reach the mask of creation?

  • Krista January 1, 2015, 6:01 PM

At Shop@Home, all the “out of stock” sets are now back up and available – as of Jan 2st 6pm, EST!

    • admin January 1, 2015, 6:08 PM

Krista, great to hear! And yes, I see that too! You meant January 1st thought, right? Or are you writing from the future? 🙄

  • Kim January 1, 2015, 11:16 PM

Everything is still out of stock for me. I can’t order until mid January anyway, but I’m wondering if there’ll be anything in stock to order LOL. Well, I’ll be ok if I don’t get stuff right away as I definitely ordered a ton of stuff at Christmas that needs to be built and of course all my old sets I’ve ignored all year while buying new ones. LOL I’ve got some store credit at Toys R Us though so I might pop over there to see what they have.

    • admin January 1, 2015, 11:22 PM

Kim, they had quite a bit of website difficulties this morning, but most everything is fixed by now. You may just need to hard-reset the page (CTRL+F5). But yeah, I guess LEGO decided to help us keep some money for things like food and housing this month. 🙄

      • Jake January 2, 2015, 3:59 PM

It took a while, but I checked last night and its all available except for ones that are actually out of stock like the slave 1

        • admin January 2, 2015, 4:54 PM

Yes, I saw that too. 🙂

        • Jake January 2, 2015, 5:27 PM

          Aaaand….now the servers are down.

  • Narrator_Bob January 2, 2015, 10:07 AM

I am a huge DC fan and am really glad that Lego is making sets with different heroes and their villains. I was really getting tired of just bat-vehicles and bat-villains. I hope they add more heroes to Marvel too.

    • admin January 2, 2015, 10:51 AM

There will be a whole range of Marvel sets later this year. 😉

  • BLProductions January 2, 2015, 1:23 PM

Just thought someone might what to know this:
1.LEGO Shop US is pretty much fixed, although the 42038 Technic Arctic Truck is still on the LEGO City page. 😕 🙂
2.The part inventories for everything released in Europe are out, there’s a ton of astonishing things, and I’ve been able to find around 53 new parts, though I’m not half way done yet! 😐
    3. Looks like LEGO is really pushing Ninjago this year: http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Ninjago/year-2015 “Airjitzu flyers.” If that info is correct, we’re getting something like spinners again! 😀

    • admin January 2, 2015, 1:48 PM

Yes, Ninjago is going to be huge this year. Also, there is going to be a rumored LEGO exclusive Ninjago Temple later this year. I expect this to be a big set! So yeah, 2015 is for Ninjago, Star Wars, and Bionicle! 😛

  • Ninja of Stealth January 2, 2015, 1:23 PM

whoa wait, what happened to the Ninjago sets? I went to the LEGO store on the 31st (not a very good idea now that I think about it.) and these sets where out, so my sister picked up a few of those. I got the ewok village,(definitely worth the price! 😀 ) Also admin, (I think) you forgot to mention the free calendar they give you with the three coupons it has.

    • BLProductions January 2, 2015, 3:15 PM

A big boost is what happened to the Ninjago sets. There are 28 of them now! @admin, the Temple is listed on Brickset as #70751 (which was until recently unknown, and previously thought to be #70756 Dojo Showdown), and you can’t say “going to be” and “rumored” in the same sentence. 😉 But what temple will it be, I wonder. We’ve already had the Fire (2507), Light (70505), Garmadon’s (70728), and the Anacondrai’s (70749). 😕 Though I would like Darkly’s Boarding School to be a large set. 🙂
And although this is a big year for SW, I am disappointed by the selection LEGO has put out (Disney probably had something to do with that). If only I was a LEGO designer, I’d have that theme in shape in no time. 😕

      • BLProductions January 2, 2015, 3:38 PM

Also, I was just on the LEGO Shop UK and it seems that Hanlan’s (the samurai from the Ninjago teaser) name is actually “Karlof”. So which is right? I wonder the accuracy of Shop UK’s name, given the number of typos in the set descriptions. 😕

        • admin January 2, 2015, 4:54 PM

I think the name may have been changed to Karlof. One of the Ninjago fans here, Jinxie Jaymes, mentioned that a few days ago. I’m not sure when or why the change happened, or perhaps he will have two names. But Brikipedia also changed their information, so I assume that Karlof is the real name.

      • admin January 2, 2015, 5:05 PM

That’s a good point about rumors, but I consider everything a rumor until there is an official confirmation from LEGO. There have been so many list with official sounding numbers and names that never materialized. However rumors have different grades. Some are very weak – these are usually heard one time from one person. However if a rumor gets independently verified from different sources then then is a very strong rumor, and if some preliminary pictures surface, than that rumor is hot! But even then it is only a rumor until it is confirmed by LEGO. LEGO has scraped not just individual sets but entire lines, so it is possible that even a strongly rumored set never materialize. But it is reasonable to believe that a hot rumor is going to be a real set in the near future – I would say somewhere between 95-99% sure. But until it is 100% it is still a rumor. 🙄

I’m very interested in that Ninjago Temple. I have read that this might be a very large and detailed set – which makes sense from the perspective that it is a LEGO exclusive. I would love to see something like that! I really like the Ninjago temples, but if they would be more substancial I would like them even more. 😛

As far as Star Wars, there supposed to be a big wave coming out in September. At least that’s what the LEGO designers said in that article I published the other day. 😉

  • Kim January 2, 2015, 2:03 PM

I don’t think I like the main build on the grocery shop and toy store but I do like one of the alternate builds. It looks like a news stand.

    • admin January 2, 2015, 4:56 PM

There is a really good picture of all three builds next to each other in the most recent LEGO Club Magazine I just got a couple of days ago. I may scan it so you guys can see it too. 🙂

      • Kim January 2, 2015, 5:59 PM

Oh, I think I got that a couple days ago and didn’t look at it. I’ll definitely check it out.

        • admin January 2, 2015, 10:35 PM

Kim, it’s towards the back. Like I think the third page from the back. 🙂

          • Kim January 3, 2015, 1:22 AM

Oo I saw it. I do like the alternate builds better. I will probably get two of them. Just not a fan of the grocery store. I will build my own grocery store.

            • admin January 3, 2015, 10:34 AM

Yeah, minifigs need a bigger grocery store! They like to eat! 🙄

              • BLProductions January 3, 2015, 3:50 PM

Yet surprisingly they somehow manage to always stay in shape… except Bombur, of course. 😉

  • Lego Idea Fan January 21, 2015, 10:23 AM

Can’t wait to purchase the Lego Idea Bird model set. Being 1 of the 10,000 supporter, it really cool to see that idea turn physical.

  • judi February 5, 2021, 3:22 AM

    Thanks for the info.
