LEGO Dimensions Wave 2-5

If you are interested in getting into LEGO Dimensions, I would suggest that you save or even print out the visual guide for the releases (you can get a larger version on the LEGO Dimensions Facebook page), or bookmark this article for future reference. As we discussed previously, the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack will be available for various gaming platforms for just about $100. The LEGO Dimensions Level Packs will be $30, the LEGO Dimensions Team Packs $25, and the LEGO Dimensions Fun Packs $15. Many of the packs are already available on Amazon for pre-order. It might be a good idea to get the packs you definitely want, because with the furry of activity and excitement around the whole line I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be a shortage after the initial launch. You can find them on Amazon here: PREORDER LEGO DIMENSIONS ON AMAZON

So what do you think? Are you looking forward to the LEGO Dimensions sets and game? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Personally, I think Lego dimensions is a great idea. It introduces lots of new themes and characters that we haven’t seen in Lego before… I don’t own any gaming consoles, but I might get some of the dimensions sets just for the awesome minifigs!… Maybe I could check out bricklink to see if any of them are being sold as separate minifigs…? :[

    • admin September 7, 2015, 11:01 AM

That’s my plan as well as far as getting the minifigures. The game itself looks really fun though, so if you do get a gaming console in the meantime, it would be worth trying it out. ๐Ÿ™‚

It looks great and all, but really, almost another year until they’re all released? Now I have to sort which sets are being released this year and next year, so I can discount any 2015 pieces in 2016 sets.
Anyways, the game still looks awesome, and I would get it, if not for the price and my still unanswered question: How many players is it? Nothing I’ve seen has yet mentioned it, and it is pretty much the deciding question. I may also try to get some packs, but again, the price is an issue. ๐Ÿ˜•

Also, you say the first wave is coming on the 29th, yet the picture you show says the 27th. So which is it? These two dates have been mismatched since the first press-release. ๐Ÿ˜•

      • admin September 7, 2015, 4:49 PM

My guess is that perhaps in different regions the release date is going to be different. That’s all I can think of.

    • admin September 7, 2015, 4:51 PM

I’m not sure about the number of players. Just like you, I haven’t read anything on it. I’m sure that as we get closer to the release date we should get more info, or definitely after as people review the game.

Ok I don’t like all the packs (except for the actual minifigure part) because what I know is that they unlock new minifigs (not bad), new vehicles (not bad), and new realms (come-on). That means if you want the full experience you would have to buy ALL the packs, to get all the worlds (realms, diminsions).
This fact really limits the kid who wants this for his birthday or something (hey I’m still there, Mom? Dad? ya here?) and his parents are like oh that’s neat, he gets the fig in real world and fake world (trust me they say that), then they would be like $100 dollars ok… but only other small things for him too. After one moth the kid goes “Hey mom, dad, I was wondering if I could get an expansion pack for my game” (mom) “ok how many are there?” (kid) “37, but they activate new worlds and things” (mom) “NO!”
Well that was long, but this new style of new worlds with the figures is not that great, only people with jobs who do nothing can get all of them. So meh (it’s a word look it up!) I’ll pass.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere somebody adding up the prices of all the packs and it was over $1,000. You gotta be a really rich kid to have that kind of money for a game. ๐Ÿ˜

      • YTjedi September 9, 2015, 8:57 PM

        Starter : $100
        9/27 : (30*3) + (25*2) + (15*15) = $365
        11/3 : 30 + 25 + (15*3) = $100
        1/19 : 30 + 25 + (15*3) = $100
        3/15 : 30 + (15*3) = $75
        5/10 : (15*3) = $45

        Total cost: $785

Still a very high price for an (expanded) video game and 40+ minifigs and a few dozen polybag-type builds … if you’re going all in anyway. And that’s only what we know about so far. I would not be surprised to see those 4th and 5th waves get filled out a little more the closer we get.

The game looks awesome, but the packs are definitely pick-and-choose for me. Also interested in seeing how these packs go on sale; hoping it’s like Infinity and Amiibo where it always seems like there’s some BOGO deal going on. But it’s LEGO, so maybe not. ๐Ÿ™

        • admin September 10, 2015, 10:23 AM

Yeah, that’s very expensive for just one game. I’m not sure how it compares to Skylanders though as it is the closest similar product line. Any ideas?

  • insectoid19 September 7, 2015, 10:23 PM

This is completely off topic… But I discovered a cool way to save your minifigs legs from the damaging super-jumper piece. Today I picked up the batboat harbor pursuit at the Lego store, and built it. This granted me an opportunity to finally try out a super-jumper. I heard that the part was built in such a way that it damaged the minifigure’s legs when used. I found a way around this by making 2 stacks of 2 1×1 round plates in trans-clear, attaching them to the super-jumper, and then putting the ‘fig on top of them. This method works well and allows you to use the super jumper without damaging your minifigs legs, but unimportant round plates instead. Anyway, thought that might be helpful to anyone who is a super heroes fan. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That’s an excellent solution. Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ˜€

The Doctor is arriving! (Does anyone care for a jelly baby? Right? No…it was a jok-whatever.) Hopefully this means 12, (the Doctor coming in dimensions,) won’t be in the Lego Ideas set for more variety. I think the Dimensions game seems pretty nice, but I’ll only be buying sets for the minifigures.

    • admin September 9, 2015, 11:05 AM

It is interesting how many people say that they will only get the minifigs. Not just here, but other forums as well. And yes, I also hope that we will get several Doctors! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • Strider September 9, 2015, 12:55 PM

Well my parents aren’t big on gaming, we’ve never gotten a console. (Sadly that is one thing you can’t make out of Lego.) I suppose all these themed minifigures have a lot of value for collectors.

Hi, I just got the Lego Dimensions Fun Pack 71217 with Zane, but there are no instructions. Apparently you have to get this separate lego disk thing, plug that into your tv or monitor, and then there’s a little chip that comes with this set that you plug onto the lego disk.

Let me say that this sucks. My 5 year old is very upset.

Does anyone have instructions for this thing??

    • admin September 26, 2015, 10:11 PM

Yeah, the instructions are all within the game. These are not regular LEGO sets. They are add-on packs that unlock extra characters, etc. within the LEGO Dimensions game, along with the building instructions for that set. However to start playing the game you have to have a starter pack. Without that all you can do is look at the picture of the set and figure out how to build it. The little Ninjacopter included in this set is a very simple build, so you should have no problem putting it together. I’m sure that later, when the game and the sets become more widely available, people will start posting the instructions to help each other out. But at this point your only options are to buy the actual game, which will allow you to unlock the instructions, or just to look at the picture and put the set together from the parts included.

  • blarttheclownninja October 17, 2015, 4:34 PM

I’m hoping to get all the sets (eventually) except the chima and Simpson’s ones. I never watch either of the shows because they just don’t seem all that great to me. The rest of the sets however, you bet I’m gonna try and get em. Watching videos on YouTube showing all their different abilities and powers just make them even greater. Only problem is that if I take the off the stands then I might get the toy tags mixed up. Does anyone know if the toy tags have the names of the characters/vehicles on them?

    • admin October 17, 2015, 6:32 PM

Yes, the Toy Tags are marked so you don’t forget which one activates what. ๐Ÿ™‚

So we bought the starter pack and several of the add on’s ($6 each on sale and with our gamers card at Best Buy) for our kids for Christmas. They love it, especially the 7 yr old. It’s not anymore expensive then the Disney Infinity, Amiibo or Skylanders. We bought the starter set and let the kids buy the others that they want with the money that they earn. Lego’s Dimensions is a 2 player game.

  • Darkfrostneo June 22, 2016, 4:24 AM

Lego Dimensions is realy not as bad on the price as people say it is. fun sets are 15.00 buy you get a charater and a car or plane that has about 20 or so upgrads, and can transform 3 times. Then you have the team pack for 25.00 that gives you 2 charaters with 2 vehicles with the upgrades and all. Then last you have a level pack for 30.oo that gives you a vehicle and the charter and a story mission.

By the in order to free rome in a word you only have to have 1 charater from that world. Not all sets.

Me and my daughter play the crap out of this game, and we just love it.
Even if you just got the starter pack and nothing els you still get tons of gameplay, The main quest is about 20h and there is the lego the movie world, Lord of the rings world, and the DC world.

P.S If you buy a Fun pack for EX. the Ninjago, you will get access to that would, So lets break it down, just having that one Fun pack gives you full access to the Ninjago world for 15.oo.

    Hope this helps you

    • admin June 22, 2016, 11:50 AM

People who say Dimension packs are expensive are mostly minifigs collectors. Meaning, they don’t care for the game, all they want is the minifigures. So from that perspective $15 for a minifigs and a few extra pieces is on the pricey side. But of course this is not really a fair evaluation as the in-game experience is not taken into consideration. For gamers, the value is definitely there. Fortunately most of the packs go on sale, so even minifigs collectors can be happy. ๐Ÿ™‚
