How to make a LEGO flowering tree – tutorial

There are many ways to build LEGO trees using standard LEGO bricks and plates, and you can also take advantage of special LEGO leaf and flower elements. Today I wanted to show you a flowering tree design that is simple and doesn’t require a lot of pieces, but could really brighten up your LEGO cities, towns and parks. 🙂

The tutorial for making this little LEGO tree with beautiful blossoms is by flickr member Ruben Ras, who shows you how to build the model step-by-step. All the tree needs is 22 pieces of standard LEGO flower stems to create the canopy. You will also need 14 LEGO flower assemblies still on the sprue, and a few extra loose flowers to fill in the tree canopy. The tree trunk is a simple design, with a little bit of sideways building at the top where the canopy gets attached.

I’m sharing a few pictures here with some of the steps to give you an idea, and you can find the step-by-step tutorial at Ruben Ras’ flickr gallery at the following link: LEGO Blossom Tree Tutorial

Cute little tree isn’t it? Perfect for a LEGO city layout, park, or country cottage setting. And of course you don’t have to use pink flowers, you can also use other colors like white, yellow, red, and more. As long as the flowers are still attached to the sprue, they are great for this design. If you don’t have enough LEGO flowers, flower stems or other pieces, you can get them at the Online LEGO Pick-A-Brick Shop.

Super! That would really add vibrance to a Lego city street!

Variety in Lego trees and foliage has always been an issue. This is a real contribution to the problem. You could change seasons by switching out the colors of the blossoms. I wonder if Lego would consider lime green flowers? And you could vary the heights of the tree trunks.

I really like this a lot.

…. plus, how creative to use the flowers still on their manufacturer assembly! (Who knew that was a “sprue”?!)

I would also really like some green flowers. That would be lovely. 🙂

There are some lime green plant parts, though…

Yes, but they are not on a sprue, so they don’t work for this application. 😉

This is a nice new take on adding trees. There are some truly excellent threads within the eurobricks forums under historical for guides of all the different methods people have come up with as well as some instructions. The more variations that are available the better in my opinion 🙂

Yes, I have seen some really excellent guides as well. I have shared some of them here, but I should probably also put together a master-list as Eurobricks is so big, it can be overwhelming for most people to find anything.
