The LEGO Batman Movie Minifig Series

It has been known for quite some time that the next series of Collectible LEGO Minifigures will be based on The LEGO Batman Movie. And sure enough, right before Thanksgiving LEGO revealed on their Facebook page the 20 characters that will be in The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures Series. So let’s talk about this. 🙂

As you see, five of the minifigs in series are batsuits. Clan of the Cave Batman wears a caveman outfit, brown cowl and cape. Fairy Batman is super funny with a pink ballerina skirt and the rare fairy-wing piece in a new color. Glam Metal Batman is probably the most striking of them all (and suspiciously looking like a member of KISS) with a gorgeously printed cowl, electric guitar, cape, and re-colored shoulder-armor. Lobster-Loving Batman comes with a new lobster, which will be a very welcome addition to beach and underwater scenes. Finally, Vacation Batman wears a unique cowl with swimming-goggles and the very first LEGO rubber ducky! I’m sure that all of these Batman suits are going to be favorite collectors’ items. I will also include Catman here as another cowled character (with the new utility belt!), although Batman may not be happy about it.

Other characters in The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures Series include Commissioner Gordon, Barbara Gordon, Dick Grayson (Robin’s original identity) carrying a shark-repellent, and Arkham Asylum Joker. Barbara’s new police cap/hair combination will be useful for other female police officers.

Pink Power Batgirl comes with a new hairpiece and re-colored skirt, Nurse Harley Quinn got that really awesome new hairpiece, and a girl named Mime who commits crimes dressed as a mime. Grifter and escort March Harriett wears her iconic rabbit outfit.

Calculator, Eraser, Zodiac Master, Red Hood, King Tut and Orca are the final six in The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures Series. All of them come with some really excellent new pieces, or re-colors of old pieces that would be interesting both for collectors and customizers.

The LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures Series is scheduled for release on January 1st, 2017, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they appear at various retailers before the end of the year. Also, remember that there will be a whole selection of regular sets for The LEGO Batman Movie, some of them are already available at retail stores and at The LEGO Batman Movie section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The fairy Batman’s legs and torso look like it could be a good start to an Undertale Mettaton EX figure.

Also, is it just me or does the Red Hood figure here look absolutely ridiculous, moreso than the rest? They could have used the head from the Killer Croc set, but nope. They had to make hm have a big red thing for his head.

    • admin November 30, 2016, 11:29 AM

Yeah, I’m not sure why they used that dome piece for Red Hood. I’m not that familiar with the character, but looking at images, I don’t see anything like it. 😕

      • TheBrickLot November 30, 2016, 11:35 AM

He actually has the same head as in the Killer Crock set Under the Red Hood (see what I did there?). Also today is the last day to enter my 100 sub giveaway if anyone is interested. https://youtu.be/XrQ_oXwDGLw

My favorite is Gordon as those dual molded sleeves are AWESOME!! I do love all the alt. Batman suits too.

I forgot to mention, but the head in the Killer Croc set is from the Robin red hood, this guy is the Joker red hood and looks pretty accurate… https://goo.gl/images/UWU3sA

Oh, cool! That makes sense! I knew LEGO must have gotten the idea from somewhere! 😀

I wonder if he’s inspired by the Phantom of the Opera…

The Belgian comic series Tif et Tondu also has a similar looking villain; Choc.

Yea, I like Gordon too. Such a well-detailed character that can be used in many settings. My favorite is vacation Batman because of the ducky. 🙄

Man!! I’m glad I decided to check out TBB today. I didn’t know about this giveaway!! (been busy these days)

  • Legostuff71 November 30, 2016, 11:48 AM

Let the hunt begin!( again) Must have its to cool and funny to miss . A BATMAN fairy? Lol.

  • rainey November 30, 2016, 12:38 PM

I don’t get the interest in Batman altho my grandson certainly does.

The only things I would want are Commissioner Gordon’s hair, the inflatable ducky and maybe the lobster. Hope these things show up in the build-a-minifig thing in the future.

    • admin November 30, 2016, 4:30 PM

I’m sure the lobster and the inflatable ducky will be available in other sets as well. They are too good moulds to waste just on one minifig! 😀

  • Phil November 30, 2016, 1:44 PM

I wasn’t hugely excited about this release although i love batman and am excited for the movie, but taking a close look at these i think it is the first time i want the full set.. ok red hood would not be missed, but I know my kids would quickly replace his head as that is their favorite thing to do with lego.

  • PrashBricks November 30, 2016, 2:26 PM

    I want to have eraser!

  • Diamond655 November 30, 2016, 3:22 PM

I just noticed…The Batman figures use the old cowl style, with the molded chin strap instead of the one printed on the head, except for Catman.

    I am concerned.

    • admin November 30, 2016, 4:30 PM

      Hm… interesting. I wonder why…

  • Håkan November 30, 2016, 4:53 PM

One thing I wondered about is that the minifigs appear to have different skin tones? I can’t see why, to my knowledge all the original characters are Caucasian.

    • Håkan November 30, 2016, 4:56 PM

Is it just an attempt of shading?

    • admin November 30, 2016, 5:07 PM

Well, white people come in all kinds of shades too! 🙄

  • LegoMaster99 November 30, 2016, 6:14 PM

Admin, I’m sure you don’t know me out of all these people, but I may leave The Brick Blogger. I just find that the news is always a bit delayed nowadays, and I just kinda am getting bored with it :/ No offense of course, I just wanted to let you know I may leave soon.

    • admin November 30, 2016, 8:50 PM

Of course I remember you! You have been around for like forever! You are welcome to come and go as you like, and it is always nice to have you stop by. 🙂

As you know, our focus here is not news, as there are plenty of websites cover it already, but we do try to squeeze in the most important news items. In general, I find that I get the most out of the communities I visit (not just LEGO related), when I actively participate. So if you start to find LEGO news boring, you can talk about what you are building, help out someone else who has a question, or just share something interesting that you find. We may not have room to fit in the publication schedule every single piece of news item, but we can certainly discuss it!

The LEGO community is not just talking about the latest sets, it is more about the interactions, making friends, getting inspired, learning new techniques, etc. You make the community whatever you like it to be. 😉

My favorite is Lobster-Loving Batman just because of the scene in the trailer and the lobster itself. Orca and Eraser also look interesting.

  • BLProductions November 30, 2016, 8:32 PM

Surprisingly, I haven’t found too many I actually want. I’m not enough of a Super Heroes fan to know who all these characters are. But I like Clan of the Cave Batman, Lobster Loving Batman, Catman, and Eraser. The lobster, rubber duck inflatable, and Eraser’s head are interesting new parts (at least I think Eraser’s head is new, but I’m not sure).
Also: http://brickset.com/article/24952/images-for-ninety-2017-sets-added-to-lego-com There’s a lot of images, but I’ve gone through them, and interestingly haven’t found any new parts that I wasn’t already aware of. Kinda odd, when compared to this time last year. 😕 I really like 70911 Penguin Arctic Roller, although the front and back do look a little out of scale with each other. The A-wing is, in my opinion the best 2017 SW set so far that isn’t Rogue One; it has lots more detail than the 2013 one. So far 2017 has a decent selection, but not the greatest, in my opinion. 😕

    • admin November 30, 2016, 9:04 PM

I have gone through the pictures also, and I did find some interesting sets. I think the City vehicles are very good – I know those are not new images, but still, for the sake of fairness, it is worth mentioning them again. There are also some really good Creator sets. I also like the red vehicle in the #76077 Iron Man set. And Ninjago is great, so are the purple Nexo Knights sets. So while none of the sets may stand out as OMG!!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I think this has to do with the fact that most of the sets we have seen already, so the newness kind of wore off. This is the downside of getting leaks so early. 🙄

As far as new parts, you are better at finding them as I am. I do very much like the new mech core piece and I find it very useful. I think LEGO introduced enough new parts in the last couple of years to keep them busy for a while. I started to get worried they will make the same mistake as they have done before (making too many new parts)! 😀

      • Ninjagofan November 30, 2016, 9:50 PM

Do you know when Ninjago hands of time is coming?

        • admin December 1, 2016, 1:57 PM

          No exact date announced yet.

      • BLProductions November 30, 2016, 10:17 PM

Hm… you are right about the City and Creator being pretty good. At least there are some new ideas, which is always nice. Technic isn’t that bad either, despite what everyone says, and probably the best is yet to come. I also like Ninjago, but Nexo Knights this year looks a lot like Chima in 2014: a bunch of cool-looking, converting vehicles, a blue-based color scheme for the freaky bad guys, and more new pieces. Thankfully many of those new parts have some applications, and the sets do look pretty good.
I’m starting to like the mech-core piece as well. All the attachment points make it a good starter piece for small builds. 🙂
I would say that LEGO has learned from their last catastrophe, and probably will cut down on new parts this year, excluding minifigure parts (there are more new of those than ever). I haven’t found 40 new parts yet and the first third of the 2017 sets has been revealed, while I’ve seen 2016 pieces absolutely everywhere. I think LEGO has enough new parts for a while, which is good.

  • Ninjagofan November 30, 2016, 9:48 PM

I love Harley, glam metal batman, fairy batman, pink power batgirl the best(specifically in that order)
