The LEGO Ninjago Movie website & more!

The LEGO Ninjago Movie won’t be released until the end of September, however LEGO already updated the official LEGO Ninjago website to get ready for the upcoming film. It is interesting to note that instead of setting up a separate webpage, like they have done with The LEGO Batman Movie, The LEGO Ninjago Movie is sharing space with the regular LEGO Ninjago content. Basically what this means right now is that the LEGO Ninjago homepage is replaced with The LEGO Ninjago Movie graphics, trailer, and other information, while the internal pages still contain the regular LEGO Ninjago products, videos, games and more. This seems to be another proof that The Ninjago Movie is not going to be as drastically different from the TV show as it was originally planned. 🙂

The main attraction right now on the LEGO Ninjago homepage is The LEGO Ninjago Movie trailer, which we have seen before, but I’m enclosing it again for your convenience, and because it’s so awesome!

When Ninjago City is attacked by evil warlord Garmadon, only Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane, and Nya are ready to stand in his way to defend their home. But wait. Garmadon is Lloyd’s long lost father – talk about an awkward family reunion. The teen ninja face a formidable enemy, but fate has called upon them to defend their home town! … Oh sorry, that wasn’t fate, that was just Lord Garmadon butt-dialing Lloyd. This will be epic!

From the LEGO Ninjago homepage there is also a link to download The LEGO Ninjago Movie poster, and you can join the latest WU-CRU mission to identify the characters of the upcoming film. It’s a simple little game to guess the silhouettes of the main characters (Zane, Cole, Jay, Lloyd, Kai and Nya), and if you get them right, you get a really nice image for each of them (see below).

While that’s pretty much all you can find right now related to The LEGO Ninjago Movie, more will likely going to be added soon. The movie is scheduled for release on September 22nd, and the related LEGO sets should be available on August 1st, so I would suggest to keep visiting the site for updates. And in the meantime, you can also check the LEGO Ninjago section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Are you excited about The LEGO Ninjago Movie? What do you think of the trailer, the story, and the updated characters? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

Can’t wait! By the way, the sets were added to Brickset earlier today. They look awesome!

I am losing my mind about it . The only problem is I have a lot of NINJAGO sets already . However, it does make me think on how I can combine the city sets and NINJAGO . For one thing it ‘s by a water front so , if I get the Coast guard sets it might just work . As well as the prison island ( the bad guys can escape or be locked up ).

You might consider adding a Chinatown into your city so you can incorporate the Ninjago sets. Another option I could think of is something like a theme park or some kind of a themed section of town. I don’t know if you have ever been to Las Vegas, but there you have replicas of all kinds of famous locations next to each other and they blend perfectly. People mostly think of Vegas as a gambling place, but I was most amazed and impressed by the architecture.

      • Håkan June 17, 2017, 8:34 PM

It’s truly fitting. To me, Las Vegas seems like a place where nothing is real, whatsoever… Extremely weird place… I’ve long considered it a capitalist Pyongyang…

        • admin June 17, 2017, 11:25 PM

Yeah, it’s sort of like that. What’s truly interesting is how the city completely changes from day to night. During the day, it’s a super fun family-friendly destination, almost like a magical theme-park. At night, the whole place turns into sin city. We usually go there to see the Cirque du Soleil shows, because Vegas has the best stages for them. If you ever have a chance, make sure you see “O” (a water show) and “Ka” (a martial arts extravaganza). We have seen many of their shows (including the ones in Florida), but those two are still my favorites. 🙂

          • Håkan June 18, 2017, 9:26 AM

Yeah, I heard about the Sin City, reference, although I’ve also heard that there has been crackdowns and such lately to make the city safer. (Although nostalgics have claimed it’s ruined the city’s soul, and the likes…)

“O”, yeah, in French it’s pronounced like the word “eau” (water), and I think “Ka” might be one pronunciation of the Japanese word for “force” or something (but I can’t swear on that). Sounds impressive, though.

I never felt unsafe in Vegas, it really is wonderful during the day. But I’m not a nightlife person, so I have no idea how safe it has been at night. We usually go for shows and for conferences. While most of the Cirque du Soleil shows are in Vegas, they also have traveling shows that perform at sports stadiums. We have seen a number of those as well. And there is a really good permanent show in Orlando. They also have a permanent show in Cancun, but I haven’t seen that yet. I think they travel to Europe also, in case you want to check them out. They really are very good. 🙂

              • Håkan June 18, 2017, 7:44 PM

I remember seeing one Cirque de Soleil show when they toured Stockholm. It was nice, although I can’t recall many details right now.

                • admin June 18, 2017, 11:50 PM

At their own dedicated theatres they can do incredibly magical stuff. Touring performances obviously can’t do as much, as the space is not created specifically for them, but their performers are still amazing. We did see a touring show in Florida, which was a homage to Michael Jackson. One of their main performers was missing a leg, and he was amazing! The show was called Michael Jackson ONE. You can find some clips on YouTube, but I found that YouTube videos simply can’t do justice to these shows. They have to be watched live. 🙂

Wow! That ship! And that dragon!

    • admin June 17, 2017, 11:30 AM

Yeah! A sand-green dragon? And an awesome Asian style ship? Yes, please! 😀

  • Diamond655 June 17, 2017, 2:17 PM

I’m sorry, but this is the first time I’ve seen the new Ninjago movie designs, and I have SEVERAL problems with this.

First off, what kinda second-rate ninja uses a WARHAMMER or a BOW AND ARROW? Lookin’ at you two, Cole, Zane.

Second off, these faces look odd when compared to pretty much any other LEGO character’s face. The heck happened to them?

Third of all. what in God’s name is going on with their hairstyles? Cole’s and Nya’s especially do not look right to me.

    • Håkan June 17, 2017, 2:21 PM

I think actual ninjas might have used bow and arrows on occasion, though. It feels like an efficient weapon for acting in stealth, from a distance.

    • admin June 17, 2017, 5:46 PM

Yeah, a number of people mentioned the faces and hairstyles being odd ever since the first trailer came out. Ninjas use whatever weapon they can find or make on the fly. That’s why they are so awesome. 😀

      • Diamond655 June 18, 2017, 7:13 PM

Yeah, but a WARHAMMER? I love how they went from Sensei Wu commenting that a sword that was just a bit big being a poor choice for a ninja(i.e. the first episodes) to “OH HEY HERE’S THIS BIG FRIGGIN HAMMER HAVE FUN SNEAKING PAST THOSE SNAKE MONSTERS OVER THERE”

        • admin June 18, 2017, 11:44 PM

          LOL! Okay, you win! 🙄 😀 😈

          • Diamond655 June 19, 2017, 5:56 PM

I also noticed just now that both Zane and Lloyd have glowing eyes . . . Why do Zane and Lloyd have glowing eyes?

            • BLProductions June 19, 2017, 9:40 PM

Lloyd’s eyes are not glowing: they are just green, probably to emphasize his role as the Green Ninja. Zane’s eyes, on the other hand, are glowing because he’s a Nindroid, and they are really overemphasizing that in the movie. Of course, Zane in the show as the Titanium Ninja also has glowing eyes….
I agree with you on the points in your other comments, save that about the bow – Ninja use bows for range, and they’re a common weapon that are more realistic than shurikans. Cole’s sledgehammer is odd, but once again it’s probably to emphasize his strength, since there are no elemental powers in the movie. Also, the movie is a completely different story from the show, so in the movie Sensei doesn’t comment about oversized weapons.

              • admin June 19, 2017, 10:56 PM

I have been thinking about the new faces for the movie, because it seems like nobody likes them. I think they look more mature. Like the tv show faces are younger and more LEGO-ish? I don’t know… I don’t like them either, and it’s hard to pinpoint why. It’s also interesting, because they were designed by the same animation studio as The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, and I loved the faces in those. This was a very deliberate move for some reason, and it may be more clear once the movie is released.

                • Håkan June 20, 2017, 9:18 AM

Most of the new heads seem to work pretty well for Mocing, I think…

I like Nya’s head in particular, but then I have a pop culture thing for feisty, sassy girls…

                  • admin June 20, 2017, 9:38 AM

LOL! Yeah, Nya looks very sassy! I especially love her hairpiece! 😀

                • BLProductions June 20, 2017, 3:45 PM

I am neutral on my opinion of the faces, actually. I don’t like them much, but I also think they’re reasonable changes for the movie. The issue I think we have is the movie faces are more realistic, and also more self-confident and teenager-ish. I wouldn’t say mature, but perhaps the movie Ninja are indeed more grown-up than the show Ninja. In the show, it’s hard to tell how old the Ninja are, but their ages are defined in the movie. Also, the Ninja’s faces in the show seem more friendly, but that could be a result of their animation. But as you say, the reason will be clearer once the movie gives us a better idea of the Ninja’s characters.
One other thing I’ve noticed is that out of all the characters, Garmadon’s face doesn’t seem to have changed between the show and the movie.

                  • admin June 20, 2017, 3:51 PM

That’s true about Garmadon! Speaking of Garmadon, have you seen that dreadful Father’s Day Garmadon image LEGO tweeted this past weekend? It has been giving me nightmares!!! It’s also posted on Brickset: https://brickset.com/article/28714/a-father-s-day-surprise-from-the-ninjago-movie

                    • BLProductions June 20, 2017, 8:54 PM

Yeah, I saw that. I check Brickset everyday, so I see everything there. That image is actually where I first noticed that Garmadon’s head was the same. Why’s it dreadful? I’ll admit it’s a bit creepy, and the hair is just wrong… okay, it’s pretty bad. Supposedly he’ll be one of the Ninjago CMFs, but I hope there are some better minifigs than this….

                    • admin June 20, 2017, 8:58 PM

Yeah, I saw a number of people saying that he might be one of the CMFs. I hope the other ones are less scary! I love his cup though! 😀

                  • Håkan June 21, 2017, 10:43 AM

                    Teenage Angst!

After the former Lego movies depicted relationship problems between fathers and their sons, there’s a new family issue to fictionalize!

                    • admin June 21, 2017, 11:12 AM

I kind of feel bad for Garmadon, as in the TV show he has been a good dad for quite a while now.

                    • Håkan June 22, 2017, 10:38 AM

In the Lego Batman Movie, I guess it might not be a direct father-son relationship, but Batsy’s still a father figure to Robin.

(Although I actually haven’t gotten around to see the film, yet.)

  • Legostuff71 June 17, 2017, 4:11 PM

That’s exactly right. If you look up on ninja warriors , they do use bow and arrows because it is a silent weapon. Ninja is all about stealth. So, here’s a thought, what if the Teenage Mutant Nimja Turtles teamed up with NINJAGO . I’d think that would be kinda cool. What’s your thoughts?

    • admin June 17, 2017, 5:47 PM

Wait… what?! Combining Ninjago with TMNT?! I’m going to have to steal that idea for my displays! 🙄

  • Legostuff71 June 17, 2017, 7:20 PM

I figure the bad guys can be snakes, Nindriods , and sea life . The ninja’s can have mutant turtle’s (the teen age kind ). So, I guess there cry would be NINjAAAA TURTLE POWER?

    • admin June 17, 2017, 11:26 PM

Sounds like a reasonable storyline to me! 😀

  • Legostuff71 June 18, 2017, 11:28 AM

I went to Brick set, to have a look at the NINJAGO sets it seems like the the prices are going to very high on some of these sets. It maybe I have to re think my plan on the prison island( not get it). As well as the coast guard sets( a balancing act of my finances). We’ll see .

    • admin June 18, 2017, 1:04 PM

Yeah, the sets (especially the best looking ones) are pretty substantial. LEGO is always a balancing act. 😀

  • Legostuff71 June 18, 2017, 4:25 PM

I’ll go to my creative side and make a MOC of Coast guard and police station combined . It doesn’t look that hard to make . I did that with the Jungle theme and turned out great .

    • admin June 18, 2017, 11:43 PM

I could see that working very well. They even have similar color-schemes. 🙂
