These are going to be good competitions. I don’t have time to enter, but I’m curious to see the results. The Mustang is awesome!

For the first contest, does it have to be a scenery? Can you put the Mustang in a garage or something like that?

    • gid617 March 2, 2019, 11:05 AM

I think a garage would count as scenery. ๐Ÿ˜€

Well, it’s not against the rules, so it might very well work. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hmm… might be time to revisit this old MOC…

hehe Only small problem is that I’m not with most of my collection right now… might scale it down. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Is the idea for the first contest to do brick-built scenery or real-life scenery? Brick-built scenery would seem an awful lot like what they’re asking you to do for the second contest… except of course for the second contest it has to be a 1967.

The rules for the first contest state the following: “The scenery can be brick-built, or you can take your brick-built Ford Mustang out in a real-life setting to show us where you would take it. Just remember not to include any IP related items in your photos.” The rules for the second contest state: “Entries should have a vintage look and feel and include the LEGO 1967 Ford Mustang or your interpretation of it and not consist of or contain copies of any other existing third-party work or creation or infringements of any third party intellectual property right. Youโ€™re allowed to use graphical elements/effects of your own designs to support your brick-built poster (for example as background) so it is not a requirement that the poster is created with only LEGO bricks.”

So yeah, they are similar in the sense that they could both be built with real or digital LEGO bricks, or could be put in a non-LEGO environment. But the second contest is asking for a vintage poster look, while the first one is about the environment.

Hmm, kind of a tough call then especially for the first one as to whether it’d be better to build the scenery or just find it. Maybe not so tough for me though, since I probably don’t have the bricks to build the scenery anyways. hehe
It is cool that these Ideas contests allow digital improvements on the photos, makes for some really well presented entries!

Yeah, the rules allow some pretty broad interpretation, so we should be seeing some interesting entries. ๐Ÿ˜€

The prizes are amazing! I might give one of these a shot! ๐Ÿ˜€

Do we have to build our own Mustang for these contests? Or are we supposed to use the set that was just released? Can we use the Speed Champions Mustangs?

    • gid617 March 4, 2019, 11:46 AM

Pretty sure you’re supposed to build your own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • DavidH March 2, 2019, 6:02 PM

I wonder why they decided to run two contests at the same time.

    • brickmaster March 3, 2019, 8:26 PM

I think they skipped a month, so maybe they are just catching up. ๐Ÿ˜€
