LEGO DOTS Customizable Bracelets Review

Ever since LEGO DOTS was first announced (see links at the end of this post, I was super excited about this new art and craft system. All the small tiles in pretty colors and with beautiful prints are a dream come true for people who like to work on artsy LEGO projects, mosaics, and the like. And I know I’m not the only one who is enthusiastic about LEGO DOTS, as the sets have been perpetually on backorder since they were first released.

Just to recap, there are three LEGO DOTS sets; the #41904 LEGO DOTS Animal Picture Holders, the #41905 LEGO DOTS Rainbow Jewelry Stand, and the #41906 LEGO DOTS Pineapple Pencil Holder. As the names imply, these are all functional desk accessories that can be decorated with the included small tiles.

Then, we also got five LEGO DOTS bracelets, which can be customized with the included small colored and printed tiles. The final currently available item is the #41908 LEGO Extra DOTS – Series 1 packet with more colored and printed tiles that can be used for both the LEGO DOTS desk accessories and the bracelets. I really like the bracelets, so I ordered all five of them, along with the LEGO Extra DOTS packet. Even though all the items were on backorder, I received the bracelets in five days, and the LEGO Extra DOTS are on their way.

The LEGO DOTS Bracelet packs come in long sleeves that include the bracelet and a packet of tiles. The bracelets are thick, strong, but flexible plastic, similar to a watchband. They are 7 3/4 inch long from tip to tip with a knob on one end and five holes on the other end to adjust for different wrist sizes. The bracelets are advertised for kids, but they can also fit adult wrists up to 6 3/4 inches. The bracelets feature 14 rows of 2 studs, which are for attaching the tiles. The clutch-power of the studs is very good, with the tiles attaching and staying on securely. The bracelets come in five colors; medium-azure, dark-pink, light-purple, black, and teal.

All five LEGO DOTS Bracelets state that they include 33 pieces, which accounts for the bracelet itself and 32 tiles (28 to fill all the studs on the bracelets, plus 4 extras). However since LEGO always includes one extra 1×1 small piece for each color and print in case they get lost, the bracelet packs end up with quite a few additional tiles. Here is the breakdown of what’s included in each pack:

The colors and prints of the tiles are so delightful and pretty! The #41900 LEGO DOTS Rainbow Bracelet includes white, yellow, red, light-aqua, and trans-light-blue tiles, and three different types of rainbow printed tiles. The #41901 LEGO DOTS Funky Animals Bracelet includes white, black, light-pink, magenta, and trans-pink tiles, paw prints, and kitten and bunny prints. The #41902 LEGO DOTS Sparkly Unicorn Bracelet includes lavender, dark-purple, coral, black, and metallic-silver tiles (yes, they are metallic, not pearl!), and three different really pretty star and unicorn prints with a metallic shine. The #41903 LEGO DOTS Cosmic Wonder Bracelet includes lavender, light-pink, light-yellow, and light-aqua tiles, some pearly faceted gem pieces, and three different star and planet prints with a metallic shine. The #41912 LEGO DOTS Love Birds Bracelet includes light-yellow, light-orange, orange, light-pink, coral, and lime-green tiles, and three different prints.

I honestly can’t say which one is my favorite bracelet. They are all so pretty! The printed pieces are exquisitely beautiful, and it’s so nice to have so many tiles in less common colors. I also like that you can customize your bracelets any way you like, and thus keeping them creative and interactive to match your mood and style. I feel that the $4.99 price tag is very reasonable, and even cheap for what you get.

While most adult LEGO fans will focus on the usability of the colorful and printed tiles in the LEGO DOTS sets, the bracelets can also have multiple uses. For example, I have seen someone use them as wall hangers by attaching the studs of the bracelets to the back of standard LEGO plates.

In summary, LEGO DOTS is awesome, and I hope LEGO will continue to add more creative and crafty sets to the collection. If you would like to check the currently available sets, visit the LEGO DOTS section of the Online LEGO Shop. Also, remember that until March 22nd, you can get a free LEGO DOTS Mini Picture Frame with purchases of $35 or more, so this could be an extra set you can add to your collection. This offer is valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Do you have any of the LEGO DOTS desk accessories or bracelets? How do you like them? Do you have a favorite bracelet design? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

I’m so glad they are not silicone! That was my biggest worry. They always do things better than the competition. Thanks for hsaring this review. NOw that I know that, I will get some!

You mention the largest wrist size for the bracelets. But what’s the smallest? Would they fit a small child?

    • Thita (admin) March 17, 2020, 1:26 PM

It get’s pretty small at the smallest setting. It would fit maybe like a 4-inch wrist? Would definitely work for a small child.

The printed pieces look pretty! I especially like the bird. I wish the other Dots sets like the frame and pencil holder also had printed pieces.

They look fun! I love the colors. How secure are the tiles when attached?

I hope they make more of the extra packs. That’s what I’m interested in the most. They are great for tiling mosaics. I wouldn’t mind some bigger packs too with more colors and shapes.

This has come at a perfect time whereas nowadays people are trying to find something to do to keep themselves busy ( while being stuck inside and needing something to do.) I’ve been creating my own creations. Like a Fortress in the mountains for my samurais ( something I’m adding to ninjago). I’m saving up for the castle of the forsaken emperor to add to the theme. As well as made a fire snake fortress( actually it’s from the Devourer set and all I did is added walls around it to make as a
fortress). So, busy building and creating. So, hang in their guys and please be careful and safe at this crazy time.

    • Martin March 17, 2020, 10:20 PM

That sounds like a great setup. We’re also working on castles. Pulled out one from Fantasy Era. I wish they made more traditional castles. Anyway, you stay safe too! Such a crazy world!

I guess you’d need to go to the second hand market. I should still have a bunch of old bricks lying around to Moc up a castle if I found the space and time…

I was just reading on Twitter that LEGO is going to bring back some features of Classic Castle under LEGO Ninjago. So it’s going to be sort of a mix of ninja and knights. 😀

        • Håkan March 18, 2020, 2:09 PM

Hmmm, might be interesting. (The first Ninja theme actually started out as a revamp of Lego Castle in the 90’s.)

And I guess if they will run Ninjago and Monkey Kid separately (as rumors have it) they would need to differentiate their products somehow. It’s interesting how Ninjago changes their shtick with new waves, recently.

(In Sweden, we had our local RPG:s during the 80s and 90s ; “Drakar och demoner” (“Dragons and Demons”, fantasy, despite the name not strictly based directly on “Dungeons and Dragons”) and “Mutant” (sci-fi), and they changed their shtick and settings constantly depending on current trends. A bit similar.

  • Legostuff14 March 18, 2020, 1:52 PM

Yeah, I heard about that to. I believe it’s coming out this summer? At least that’s what the rumors say? I can’t wait for the next mini figure mystery bags because they’re Knights and Vikings in them. I think Lego should bring back the Viking theme again, of course my Vikings have turn it to dwarves. What’s the difference except one is shorter but, both very aggressive fighter. Do you guys remember the dwarf mines set long time ago. I have it and made a few adjustment on it. There was a separate set that had a drawbridge and a tower. Well I attached it to the dwarf mines set and gave it a drawbridge.

    • Thita (admin) March 18, 2020, 2:05 PM

OMG! I loved Dwarves Mines! Those were great sets, and the Dwarves were awesome! Yeah, Dwarves are basically Vikings with short legs! 😀

      • Håkan March 18, 2020, 10:04 PM

If they made Classic Castle again, there are two things I’d like to see – further fantasy ventures with elves, dwarves, trolls and unicorns etc. or more realistic everyday medieval stuff such as 10193 Medieval Market Village or 7189 Mill Village Raid …

        • Thita (admin) March 18, 2020, 10:57 PM

That’s what I would love to see too! I loved Fantasy Castle! And yes, we need some traditional castles too. Perhaps those could be Creator Expert type sets for AFOLs.

  • Legostuff14 March 18, 2020, 6:08 PM

So, here is an idea I’ve been toying with. I’ve mention this before ,combining nexo knights with Ninjago and that seems like a interesting concept. But, I’m wondering whether or not I should wait and see when this next Ninjago wave comes out and what it entails? Also i want to use the dragon hunters ( from ninjago ) as mechanics and or weapon forgers. So basically Ninjago meet Naxos knights with a steampunk twist. Oh, and I won’t use that evil jester( I know the name but my spell checker won’t let me use it) as the main bad guy. I use an Evil wizard. Any thoughts?

    • Thita (admin) March 18, 2020, 10:37 PM

It might be worth waiting until at least some images emerge to see what this new Ninjago looks like. So far, I have only seen one image of Jay in a sort of knight-ninja armor combo. In some ways, it’s more traditional than Nexo Knights. I would also like to see who are the bad guys and what kind of rides are in the next episode (animals? vehicles? fantasy creatures?) to see how compatible it is with Nexo. Of course, it’s all fantasy in same ways, but I like to see some coherency amongst my good guys and bad guys. But that’s just me. You might also combine them now, and just adjust when more info is revealed.

  • Legostuff14 March 19, 2020, 12:08 PM

I agree. If anything , I think I’ll get my dwarves ready because they can fighting Mountain trolls and ice samurais. Teamed up with the good guys ( samurais and the Huns) and of course Ninjago characters. I just love dwarves way too much to put them away and not use them for something. Lol!😁

    • Thita (admin) March 19, 2020, 4:31 PM

Yeah, dwarves are awesome! And there is a new Viking in Series 20 that would make another great dwarf by using short legs. 🙂
