March 2020 – New LEGO Sets & Promotions

Even with the extra day for Leap Year, it seems like February flew by really fast! And now that we’re in March, we can enjoy new LEGO sets and promotions (while still trying to catch up with the huge wave of new sets from earlier this year!). So, let’s take a look at what we got this month!

FREE LEGO TRAINS ANNIVERSARY SET: March 1-15, you can get a #40370 LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary Set with purchases of $99 or more. This is a fantastic and quite large set that’s almost an exact replica of the #7810 LEGO Push-Along Steam Engine from 1980. Even the box is really nice, as it features both the old set and the new, as well as the old LEGO logo, and the 40th anniversary logo. This is an amazing item for LEGO train fans and collectors! This offer is valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO DOTS SETS & FREEBIE: The new LEGO DOTS theme officially launched today, and all the LEGO DOTS sets we talked about previously (see: LEGO DOTS for Arts & Crafts Coming!) are now available. In addition, there are LEGO DOTS related events at LEGO stores, so if you live near one, check out the store calendar. Also, March 9-22, you can get a free #30556 LEGO DOTS Mini Frame with purchases of $35 or more. It’s a nice way to boost your LEGO DOTS collection, and the offer is valid on all purchases at LEGO stores and online. To see the full selection, check out the LEGO DOTS section of the Online LEGO Shop.

FREE LEGO EASTER EGG & EASTER BUNNY: March 23-April 13, you can get a #30550 LEGO Easter Bunny with purchases of $30 or more, and a #40371 LEGO Customizable Easter Egg with purchases of $50 or more at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. I’m not sure if offering both freebies at the same time is a mistake in the calendar, or if the offers are stackable. I guess we will just have to wait and see…

NEW LEGO SPIDER-MAN SETS AVAILABLE: Two new LEGO Spider-Man set, the #76251 LEGO Spider-Man Venomosaurus Ambush, and the #76163 LEGO Spider-Man Venom Crawler are now available at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

NEW LEGO MARVEL AVENGERS SET AVAILABLE: The #76162 LEGO Marvel Avengers Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase is now available. It includes Black Widow, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster in his awesome armed helicopter. You can find it at the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes section of the Online LEGO Shop.

LEGO STAR WARS MANDALORIAN SETS PREORDER: The two new LEGO Star Wars sets related to The Mandalorian TV show are now available, but only for preorder. They won’t be actually shipping until the fall. This is probably the longest preorder period I have seen from LEGO. My guess is that they are expecting a flood of orders for these sets, so they are trying to prepare themselves. The two sets are the #75317 LEGO Star Wars The Mandalorian & The Child, and the #75292 LEGO Star Wars The Razor Crest. You can find them both at the LEGO Star Was section of the Online LEGO Shop.

SMALL LEGO SETS & GIFTS: There are also a couple of interesting small LEGO sets that you may want to look into. The #854011 LEGO Eiffel Tower Magnet Build is going to be part of a new series of small commemorative sets with magnets. They basically include a small build that can be used by itself or attached to a 4×4 stud LEGO magnet. Another nice small set is the #40373 LEGO Fairground Minifigure Accessory Set with four minifigs, two teddy bears, and a bunch of useful little accessories.

OTHER 2020 LARGE LEGO SETS & EXCLUSIVES: Also, remember some of the recently released large sets, like the #10270 LEGO Creator Bookshop, the #10272 LEGO Creator Old Trafford – Manchester United stadium, the #21321 LEGO Ideas International Space Station, the #76139 LEGO DC Super Heroes 1989 Batmobile, the #42109 LEGO Technic App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car, and more. Also worth mentioning that the DC Super Heroes Series Collectible Minifigures are now available as a full box.

LEGO SETS ON CLEARANCE SALE: As usual, I like to remind you that before you check out, take a look at what’s on sale, you may find something interesting to boost your order. They are currently offering some of the older sets with 20%-50% off discounts. You may find something that you like. Visit the Sales & Deals section of the Online LEGO Shop.

And that wraps up the new sets and offers that are available this month. What do you think? How do you like the freebies this month? And are you planning to get anything? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!

The little train is fantastic! I hope they also bring back some of the other older trains too.

    • Oldtimer March 1, 2020, 12:32 PM

And spaceships and pirate ships and castles.

      • Drummer615 March 1, 2020, 3:22 PM

Afols have been asking to bring back trains, classic space, pirates, and castle for forever. This train may be an indication that they are finally listening?

Any of you getting the fiat? I would like to get some more reviews on it. I don’t want to miss out on the train, so I will have to make some decisions soon.

I just found out that the Fiat is light yellow, not normal yellow. That makes it a lot more interesting.

I’m interested in dots. I hope they continue making more addon packs and release more colors and prints. It’s great for mosaic builders.

Not much new stuff for me. I’m still trying to catch up from January. I want some of the better city cars. I would love to get the train too, but the threshold to get it is too high for me right now.

Hmm, I have set my eyes upon the Venomosaurus (which apparently actually is based on an actual comic book appearance). It seems that it won’t be released until June 1st, however. (Apparently Lego generally stopped with regional exclusives, so I guess it will be available in Sweden, as well.)

It looks like the release date was changed on the two Spider-Man sets. I’m positive both showed as coming soon on March 1st when I wrote up this post a couple of days ago. Sigh… 🙁

Currently Lego.com states “Coming Soon on June 1, 2020”, so, everything is relative, I guess… =/

I guess Lego was good at keeping things a secret during the two toy fairs that went on. No news on summer sets. Not even a photo leak. Good for Lego that has it under control bad for us because we don’t know what’s coming out. It doesn’t matter we know the time periods when things get released during the year. It’s just we don’t no what’s coming and at which time period. I mean what’s the city theme this summer? Any ideas?

    • Thita (admin) March 1, 2020, 7:41 PM

Hm… good question. I haven’t seen any info on the summer City sets. And yeah, not much happened at the Toy Fair. I guess LEGO feels like they don’t need the additional buzz.

It’s rumored to be themed around airports and underwater exploration, it seems…

And there are probable guesses of the major “Leaf” theme that will be released around summertime.

*Spoiler* There are strong indications it will be called “Monkey Kid”, and be a reinterpretation of the classic Chinese adventure novel “Journey to the West” with additional traces of the classic “Dragon Ball” manga. Seems like Lego has high hopes for its burgeoning Chinese market… *Spoiler*

Hm… this is super interesting! Especially Leaf! 😀

      • jabber-baby-wocky March 1, 2020, 9:35 PM

Oh, wow! I haven’t heard of this. Very cool!

  • Legostuff14 March 1, 2020, 10:18 PM

I heard about the underwater exploration theme ( I hope it’ll be sea life Discovery or exploration) because one of the mini figures in the next wave of mystery bag series there is a woman diver with a sea turtle. So, that might be a clue. 🤔

    • julian314 March 2, 2020, 10:30 AM

The friends underwater theme from last year was very popular, so it make sence to do something similar for city.
