Limited Edition LEGO Ulysses Space Probe is Back!

You might remember that when the #10283 LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery was released last year, it was mentioned that LEGO VIP members will also be able to purchase the exclusive Ulysses Space Probe for 1,800 VIP Points. In real life, the Ulysses Space Probe was deployed by the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1990 on a mission to scan the Sun, so the two sets went perfectly together.

Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand and some glitches and delays, many LEGO fans missed out on the Ulysses Space Probe special. To appease fans, LEGO is re-releasing this highly desirable set in limited quantities. It will be available starting tomorrow, May 17th at the LEGO VIP Center. Please note that due to the limited number of sets, if you already got one last year you will not be able to redeem points for it this time.

If you do purchase the set with your VIP Points, you’ll get a promotional code for the reward, which you can redeem with your next purchase at the Online LEGO Shop. The code is valid for 60 days and must be entered during checkout in the field labeled “Enter Promo Code”. You can only use one promotional code per order. This VIP promotion is subject to availability and only one offer while supplies last.

It is important to note that this re-launch will also be extremely limited. Please set your alarm if this is a reward you are interested in having the opportunity to claim. Here are the times when the promotion will go live per region:

  • Australia & New Zealand: May 17th, 9:00 AM AEST / 11:00 AM NZST
  • Korea: May 17th, 9:00 AM KST
  • Europe: May 17th, 9:00 AM CEST / 8:00 AM BST
  • United States & Canada: May 17th, 9:00 AM EDT

For those of you who have been looking forward to this set, I hope that you will be able to get it this time around. And if you don’t have it already, you may also want to pick up the #10283 LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery at the LEGO Creator Expert section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? Do you have any of the NASA space sets? Which one is your favorite? And are you looking forward to this special VIP promotion? Or do you have the Ulysses Space Probe already? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

Still running into the fallacy that toy collectors like extremely limited items so they can have bragging rights about owning one. Maybe some do, but I think most collectors care more about having a “complete set” than the rarity of the pieces in that set.

The scalpers, however, do very much like the extremely limited items.

Meanwhile, toy companies release these extremely limited things and deem it a success when it generates hype and sells out quickly, never mind the unhappy collectors that didn’t get one.

It’s nice to see a reissue, but Lego could fill the full demand for these if they wanted.

So much this. I only get collectibles like this when I really like the and want to build them for what they are, and not what the collector value would be.

Completely agree. The other frustration with this for me is that I only have 1707 points left to redeem. The probe wasn’t even redeemable for me.

I wish they had rereleased this earlier. I spend a fortune getting one on ebay. Damn.

I like the idea of releasing an exclusive that expands on a newly released set. It’s just that they didn’t realize how popular this set was going to be. Anyway, I’m glad they are releasing it again. I hope everyone who wants one can get one.

No Chance – I was there at the allotted time and the second it came up in the rewards centre, it was sold out!

Was on the website 10 minutes before It was to be sold and 2 websites said they were already sold out. Sure enough, as it became 7 am ET, none available. Lego is getting horrible on these – pretty sad if 2 websites reported them sold out 5 mins before it was available for USA folks!!

Other than the printed tile, none of the parts are unusual or rare. I plan on looking up the instructions online and building it from my parts on hand.

Sold out before I knew it was back. They should either supply enough for demand or stop annoying true fans with these limited items. It’s a disappointing day to be a fan.

Logged in a minute before and claimed it no problems. Purchased a Speed Champs set just to cash the code out right away.

Be nice to flip this towards the Viking 3 in 1 or another set I’ll actually build.
