There are a couple of LEGO Superman sets in the LEGO Super Heroes DC Universe line that we haven’t discussed yet as no good pictures were available. However recently British retailer Argos posted detailed pictures so now we have a chance to check them out. So let’s see what we got! 😛
➡ #76002 LEGO Super Heroes Superman: Metropolis Showdown – the set is based on the upcoming Man of Steel movie with Superman and General Zod, a yellow and black sports-car, and a satellite-tower with a small ramp. Superman comes with a dark-blue suit instead of the previously released regular blue, and comes with a different torso print and also the legs are printed. Which is pretty awesome. The set includes 119 pieces and the price should be $12.99 when it becomes available in May.
➡ #76003 LEGO Super Heroes Superman: Battle of Smallville – this set is also based on the upcoming Man of Steel movie. Help Superman stop the Kryptonians from taking over the town! The Black Zero Dropship features adjustable wings, a large rotating underside cannon, dual shooters, an opening cockpit, storage bays and a weapon’s rack. The Offroader features a cannon with a rotating base and dual flick-missiles. Includes 418 pieces and 5 minifigures: Superman, Colonel Hardy, General Zod, Faora and Tor-An. Price should be $49.99 when it becomes available in May.
There are two other LEGO Super Heroes DC Universe sets scheduled to be released; the #76009 LEGO Super Heroes Superman: Black Zero Escape with 168 pieces and the price of $19.99, and the #30166 LEGO Super Heroes Robin and Redbird Cycle, also a small set. No pictures as of yet. These should also be available sometime in May at the Online LEGO Shop. For currently available LEGO DC Super Heroes sets see below:

Yay! First comment!
I’m not one to complain about Superman’s lack of red shorts. And all those new armor pieces should be useful for something! When they’re out could you do the Darth Malgus thing again?
I think it is strange how lego kind of blends superheroes into one theme and then only does a little for each. Like the Batman and Bane set, they could have done more for the movie, but instead they just did a little to make room for Superman. Spidey has three so far but Lego could have done more. I think Lego should pick a superhero for the year, and then concentrate on sets for that one hero only. That would give people a chance to choose wheter or not they like it and if they do they can buy it all at once. I really like Spiderman for instance, but I only have three to get. I will like as not be interested in something else before Lego makea new ones.
Strider, that is a really good point. Other LEGO fans also mentioned that the Super Heroes sets look like just backgrounds for the minifigs. Of course minifig collectors don’t mind, but those who like to play with the sets more would be better. However this is the trend right now with all the Super Hero films coming out. Just walk through the toy-isle in your local department store and you will see what I mean; every brand is doing the same thing – releasing a bunch of Super Hero characters at the same time taking advantage of the current Super Hero craze. And I don’t see this changing any time soon with more films coming out. 😕
you could use the superman laser face for a sith with the red eyes!
I am so getting battle of smallville if only for the figs.
i want that one to
Yeah, I can’t wait for those armor pieces! 😛

I will announce the winners as a comment for the post. 😉
I love superman!
any word on Green Lantern Lego Sets or Flash?
Dont think so…? >>>>Well then…. <<< There are I think rumors but NO facts… so yeah…
Well when Lego first introduce the new DC series, Green Lantern was there.
Just curious
I will admit that I wasn’t very excited about these sets at first (I’m not a big fan of Superman), but I love how General Zod and the other villains look! It’s detailed minifigures like this that make many of the lincensed themes so interesting. Although, I do agree that Lego has been going overboard recently. 🙁 I miss back when we had lots of non-licensed themes every year. Nowadays we only get two per year, while we get about four or five lencensed themes. I love the sets and figures, but lincensed themes can be so expensive.
Yes, this is something other LEGO fans have complained aobut as well. ALthough I do remember the times when LEGO fans were dreaming about licensed minifigures like Super Heroes, Lord of the Rings… I guess LEGO fans can never be satisfied. I tend to buy the non-licensed sets for myself and just buy individual minifigures from the licensed themes. I just like the designs and features of the non-licensed sets more as LEGO designers have more freedom to really give their best. 🙂
We still want the licensed figures. It’s just the sets that are the issue. As stated previously many of them are just over-priced backgrounds for the various movie characters. The figures are great. It’s the sets that are going in the wrong direction.
Any news on chima? The lone Ranger? New themes?
We have talked about all the summer sets already. The next step would be LEGO to actually release them. 😉
What I think lego should do for all the adult fans is set up a program that just creates minifigures of various characters from popular themes. Adult fans could just request what characters they want and lego could make and sell the figures. A lot of people have complained that lego lincensed themes are becoming too adult for younger fans (in other words they’re becomeing more PG-13), but I think this issue could be solved if lego just created a separate program for adult fans. That way characters from adult themes could get made into minifigures, but they’d only be marketed to adult fans. I know I wouldn’t mind some characters from Soul Eater, especially minifigs of Black Star and Tsubaki. 🙂
Yeah, it would be great, although I don’t know if financially it would make sense. Also LEGO has to be careful to keep their policy of no religion, no modern military. Otherwise, especially in today’s environment, they can end up in a serious mess. It is probably best to keep LEGO as a kid’s toy mainly, with occasional advanced sets for older teens and adults, and let the customizers do the other stuff. More and more LEGO customizers are getting advanced printers that can print elements just like LEGO, so the quality is not any less. This way adult LEGO fans can do their own thing without involving the LEGO company. 😉
