Just a quick alert to let you know that the LEGO Galaxy Squad sets are getting retired, and they are currently on sale at the Online LEGO Shop. This is a very solid LEGO Space theme, and one of my personal favorites. If you have been sitting on the fence about these, or were saving up for them, this is your last chance before they get sold out and prices start to go up on the secondary market. So grab them before they are gone! 🙂
LEGO Galaxy Squad got two waves with 10 sets in total (plus a couple of small polybags). Members of the squad come in orange, blue, red and green uniforms, and they each have a robot sidekick that appears in several of the sets. The humans – and especially the robots – are excellent. On the other side we have the bugs that come in all kinds of sizes and shapes, but they all carry the same color-scheme of lime-green and dark-red, which is a very nice combination. Really, I have nothing negative to say about this line-up. All of the sets are great, and if you like LEGO Space you would not be disappointed with any of them. The large sets are particularly nice with tons of features and lots of playability. I have been playing with and modifying my orange squad for months – at some point I may show you some pictures.
Currently the Online LEGO Shop has 9 of the 12 LEGO Galaxy Squad sets listed, with one of them already sold out. It is possible that prices will drop even lower, but then you are really risking the set being gone by the time you are ready to buy. For example the #70703 Star Slicer dropped from $39.99 to $9.98, but it is now completely gone. Again, this is your last chance, so don’t miss out. Below is the list of LEGO Galaxy Squad sets for your convenience. For more details and to buy visit the Online LEGO Shop.
- #70700 LEGO Galaxy Squad Space Swarmer – Sale price: $9.48
- #70701 LEGO Galaxy Squad Swarm Interceptor – Sale price: $15.98
- #70702 LEGO Galaxy Squad Warp Stinger – Sale price: $23.98

Speaking of retiring sets, another one you might want to keep an eye on is the #10211 LEGO Modular Grand Emporium. It is not shown as retiring soon yet, but it has been on the market for four years, and it is the next one to go (probably when the next modular building gets released early next year). So if you have been eyeing the Modulars and not sure which one to start with, I would suggest the Emporium. You can see all the currently available LEGO Modular Buildings at the Online LEGO Shop.
What do you think? Are you planning to get any of the LEGO Galaxy Squad sets before they get retired? If you have them already, how do you like them? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

I think the Galaxy Squad sets will go lower… they aren’t that popular of a theme. I think the Star Slicer kinda proved that..
I know a lot of people who really like Galaxy Squad, but it is a fact that it has been overshadowed by so many other recently released amazing LEGO themes. Whether you will find the price dropping lower and still find them on sale is a gamble. Personally I bought all the sets I wanted at full price and never regretted it. They are that awesome. 🙂
I’m not a huge fan of GS, although the Galactic Titan is one I’m going to get. Might get the HiveCrawler aswell..
You’d better hurry, then, for the Titan. It went back in stock on Friday and it’s already out of stock again. 😐
It went out of stock? Didnt know that… wouldve bought it if I did. Oh well, all the sets sold out overnight (somehow…)… this must be a popular theme, unless LEGO just had a smaller inventory of these sets
What are you talking about sold out? If you go to the galaxy squad theme, youll see they are now at full price… http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Galaxy-Squad-ByTheme
Yeah, I was gonna say…. Dang, they better go on sale again soon. 😡
I saw this last week, and I’m like NOOOoooo!!! I really want the Bug Obliterator! 😮
That Crater Creeper was sold out so long ago, and then the Star Slicer went. (The Star Slicer also happens to be my family’s only GS set 😕 )
I hope and think that the prices will drop, hopefully 75% off like the Star Slicer, and then I’ll have that Obliterator. 🙂 I hope.
Does anyone think the 2012 Hobbit sets will go on sale? I’m hoping for half price. 😕
If you can, get the Bug Obliterator. You will not regret it. It is one of my all-time most favoritest LEGO sets ever. As far as The Hobbits, I’m not sure, usually licensed sets don’t go on sale unless they are a total flop, which The Hobbit is not.
I know I would not regret it, but I cannot afford it as long as it is over $50. My total savings is somewhere around $130, and I will get the Unexpected Gathering no matter what. I just wish both of those went on sale, 79003 and 70705.
Also my mom said she would not get anything more until we go to Disney world this December 😡 If I paid every penny, though… 😕
Yeah, the budgeting issue… I can relate… would you have time for a summer job? When I need extra money I do some commissioned art-work, temporary job, or sell some odds and ends on eBay. It is fairly easy to make a few hundred extra dollars this way. 🙂
I was planning on getting a job this summer, but I don’t think I can anymore. I’m taking Pre-calculus all summer, I’m going on a trip in two weeks, and I’m on vacation the second half of August. 😕 Plus, there’s not really anything I can do.
I do get $2 a month, though, and that’s something. 🙂
How about tutoring? It may work well with your calculus classes. Just an idea. 😉
Just play with Legos, believe you are a Master Builder, and then get a job with the Lego Group :P. (I know that sounds like a cat poster, but it’s true.) jk
Cats are always right… 🙄
i want a cat poster that says cats are always right
LOL! 😆
I got my LEGO movie collector’s edition in the mail today!
I decided to get the Warp Stinger for 50% off in Sweden… Pretty cool build, good amount of Snot parts, don’t really know where to store it, though…
Hang it from the ceiling, with any other flying bugs you have. 😉
Yeah. I might attempt some MOC bugs, although I’m a bit low on psychotic pastel colors.
If there’s be any more Lego bug-a-boos for 50% off, I might consider buying them. (Or bulk sale, although the floors and shelves are rather stuffed already…)
