October is the month a lot of LEGO fans have been saving up for. It is the official beginning of the LEGO holiday shopping season with Double VIP Points for the entire month, and there are also other offers to entice you to take care of your holiday shopping now. So let’s take a look at the official LEGO offerings and happenings this month. 🙂
As I mentioned above, the biggest promotion for the month is the Double VIP Points on all of your purchases during the whole month of October. This basically means that you earn $5 worth of VIP Points for every $50 you spend. Savvy LEGO shoppers use this period to take care of their big LEGO purchases to rake up VIP points for future shopping. This is a good time to get the LEGO Modular Buildings, large LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Technic, and other more expensive and exclusive sets.
The other notable promotion this month is the #40106 Free Exclusive Holiday Set with purchases of $99 or more. It contains a couple of cute little elves in their workshop getting presents ready for the holidays. It is an excellent extension to the #10245 LEGO Creator Santa’s Workshop, which is the current addition to the annual LEGO Winter Village series. (There will be a second free holiday set in November, and I have heard rumors that it will be a skating scene, but there are no pictures yet.)
And this brings us to the next promotion; while the #10245 LEGO Creator Santa’s Workshop was available for LEGO VIP members mid-September, it is now available for everyone. This is a really nice set for the holidays. Read more about it here: LEGO Santa’s Workshop Available Now!
Another thing to note is that today is the official release of Series 12 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures. While they have been popping up at various retailers, from now on they should be more widely available, and you can also get them at Official LEGO Stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
Also, on October 6th, LEGO will be revealing the next large LEGO Exclusive set. Some people say this may be the #75060 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Slave I, or it could be the next LEGO Modular Building. We should be finding it out for sure in just a few days.
If you live close to an Official LEGO Store, there are some events that you can take advantage of as you can see in the LEGO Calendar. The Monthly Mini Model Build is a LEGO Frankenstein. Then there is a LEGO City racing event, a couple of LEGO Club meetings, and a LEGO Friends jungle animals search. On Halloween you can visit Official LEGO Stores dressed in a costume and get a special LEGO treat. You can see dates for all of these events in the October LEGO Calendar posted below.
Again, October is the best time to take care of your larger LEGO purchases due to the Double VIP Points offer. If you are not a LEGO VIP member yet, I would suggest you sign up. Membership is free and there is absolutely no downside to it. You will earn points on all of your purchases, get special promotions like Double VIP Points, early access to exclusive and newly released sets, and various other perks throughout the year. You have two years to spend your VIP points from the time of acquiring them. You can save them up for a special purchase or spend them incrementally as you get them. As I said, there is no downside to it. I have been a member myself for many years. You can sign up here.
Also, I would suggest that if you are looking to get holiday related sets like the LEGO Advent Calendars or LEGO Winter Village sets, you get them as early as possible, as they tend to sell out by the time most people think about getting them. Plus you will earn Double VIP Points on those too, and you also get free shipping if your order is $75 or more. 😀
I’m planning to get two of the LEGO Modular Buildings this month I have been saving up for all year. What about you? What’s on your LEGO shopping list for the holidays? Any larger purchases you are planning to take care of this month? Feel free to share in the comment section below! 😉

I just purchased Santa’s Workshop this morning. I now have the complete Winter Village Series.
To get my order up to $100 and the bonus Holiday set, I also purchased Lego Friends Animal series 6 (2 of each for my girls) and some of last years Xmas Ornaments (filled with bricks or small builds) that were on sale for $1.98 each.
Oh, that’s a really good idea about the Friend’s animals! I’m placing an order today as well and although I’m already going to be above the threshold, those Friends animals sets are so cute! Also, Series 12 is out, so throwing in a few of those won’t hurt either. Would love to see your Winter Village when it’s set up! 😛
October 6th is my birthday, yay set reveal on the day I was born 🙂
So it better be really good! Happy (soon) BD! 😛
on your birthday? cool! well, happy early birthday! I can’t wait to get something! Today I’m getting the LEGO city advent calendar for myself for Christmas. I’m hoping they wont be out of stock with all these promotions going around. Plus (hopefully) I’m getting some of the minifigures from series 12 tomorrow! heh, heh. hopefully. 😀
Cool I can’t wait to get some minifigures
This is of topic but on the Brick Show they put videos showing pictures of 2015 sets like Bionicle, Ninjago, ect.
Great! So far Brickset has TLM, Bionicle, DC Super Heroes, Speed Champions, Ninjago, and Technic. 😉 It’s all kind of overwhelming for me. 😕
Yeah, and also Disney Princess. He is planning to leak more, so the overwhelm will be even more overwhelming. 🙄
overwhelming? Bring it! 😈 I can’t wait for the new ninjago sets next year! speaking of ninjago, does anyone know the release date on the 2015 sets and the release date for the next two ninjago episodes in the US?
LOL! Yeah, bring it on! If it is like in the past, than the new Ninjago sets (and the other ones) should be officially released in January, which means that you should be able to find them at places like TRU right before Christmas. 😉
ha-ha! Awesome! to toys R us it is! In a few mouths though. 🙂
Yes, I’m very aware of that. I will gradually post them here as well. They have been leaked by just2good, who has his own YouTube channel. If you are interested in new releases I recommend you subscribe to his channel. He is still leaking more stuff. 😉
He seems to have stumbled upon them on Lego’s website. Maybe they need to check on their security…
He has been leaking images for days. My understanding is that they are actually from another source, but in either case LEGO doesn’t seem to mind as they haven’t stopped him. 😉
Where, where? I must see them! 😯 or maybe admin can you put them on here?
Sure, I will be posting them here shortly. 😉
You can see pictures of all the 2015 sets he’s so far leaked here: http://brickset.com/sets/year-2015 😉
Thanks guys! I looked at the ninjago sets and it looks like it’s going to be an (interesting) exciting season!
I think I’m going to get the City Advent Calendar on Friday. I can’t afford anything big for double points but I would like to get something and it has the Santa Claus figure with the cookie piece.
Santa Claus and cookies! What more would we ever need?
I think the cookie piece will also be included in the Double-Decker Couch set for 2015…
I saw that now that I think about it…. I had forgotten.
Oh, yes, I love that set! It has so many things that I want! 🙂
You know I looked up the pieces I wanted most from that set including a santa claus, the sheet music, cookie, and turkey and I think I can get them for less than the price of the Advent Calendar. Maybe I will wait for the Santa Set in November if I can snag if fast enough and buy those other pieces separately. Double points is great but I’m not sure it’s worth it at this point. Particularly when there’s other things I’m wanting to buy as well.
Yeah, double VIP points make most sense when you are buying large sets, of course they work on smaller sets too, but if you don’t have anything large in mind and you don’t meet the minimum threshold for free shipping, there are other options.
I really would like to get a large set this month. But, as I’m sure I’ve said 1,000 times, I’m not allowed to buy anything unless it’s the Exo-suit. 🙁 (Though I really want that Suit) But that’s okay, I guess, as I’m saving up for December, and now next year. There’s too much good stuff next year! 😡 😕
That is very true. Next year is definitely going to break my bank.
Is it possible that we are the cause of all the bank and financial troubles lately? 🙄
I have checked on the Exo Suit this morning and it is still not available online. I’m kind of start to loose hope it will ever be restocked. I’m glad I have one, but I would love to get a couple of more! 😛
I’m really hoping the Exo Suit is restocked soon. I wanted it since it was announced. It would be great to pick up during double points.
Yeah, that has been the hope. I’m checking every day myself. 😐
I just checked. Can’t even put it on my wish list.
Yeah, I know. 😕
But it still says “Temporarily Out of Stock,” which means it will come back, eventually. And, they said it would restock in October, same as the Research Institute. I can wait, and it’s almost better if it doesn’t restock, because that’s about $45 I save for next year. 😕 I might add that the same thing has happened to the 76023 Tumbler. But I’m sure that will restock. 😐
you’d think LEGO would double the stock for the LEGO idea stuff since there’s such a high demand for those things, they’d make more money that’s for sure. 😀
Yeah, they really underestimated the demand… 🙁
Double VIP points oh ya, great time to be going to LEGOLAND in four days!!!!!!
Please note that LEGOLAND Parks do not offer VIP points at all. It is a completely separate store operated by Marlin Entertainment. However if you are going to LEGOLAND Florida, you can stop by at the Downtown Disney LEGO store, they are operated by LEGO directly and you can earn and redeem VIP points there.
Yep, going there too!!!
Where is today’s post ?
Sorry about that. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday afternoon and this morning. Had really bad allergies. Feeling better now and will resume regular posting tomorrow. 🙂
Okey thanks
Sadly set 40106 is exlucive to the US and Canada which means that I only have double vip points. As TFOL who has a limited budget that means I get €15 to €20 for free from those vip points. Nice job LEGO. Making such a nice set limited to where you live.
LEGO offers different promos to different countries at times. Sometimes the same promo appears later in another country, and sometimes it will be another awesome offer that is not available anywhere else. It is up to LEGO to choose these, and they are free, so there is not much we can do besides being happy that LEGO even makes such offers. They don’t have to. 😉
I know that but it still is annoying. Although an email to LEGO’s customer service got me the information that it will be available from 15 october onward in the rest of the world.
Oh, that’t not so bad. Glad to hear that you guys will have them too. You guys got the white Classic Space minifig promo a month before we did. 😉
We stopped by a Lego store yesterday, managed to spend enough to hit the $100 promo (not a particularly hard task!). I got three CMFs (among other stuff), the price rise is a real annoyance, but other than that they weren’t at all disappointing, and I had a lot of fun feeling them out!
Nice! I don’t have any of the new CMFs yet. I’m hoping that William will get me some. Enjoy your loot! 😛
I ordered the Knowhere Escape set. I clicked from here so The Brickblogger should get some credit for it.
Thank you, Chris, I appreciate that. Enjoy your new set! 🙂
