We normally don’t talk about LEGO gift items, except around the year-end holidays, however LEGO just released something that is too good not to talk about: human sized LEGO mugs! If you have been around LEGO long enough, you know how iconic mugs are in LEGO sets. The minifig-size LEGO mug was first introduced in 1979 and since then have appeared in hundreds of sets in many colors. It is pretty much a staple item in all LEGO City sets. Minifigs seems to have a serious coffee addiction, especially the LEGO police chief who is practically inseparable from his red coffee mug. Or maybe it is hot chocolate? Or tea? Or soy-milk? The point is that mugs have been around just as long as minifigs, and they are practically inseparable. 🙂
I’m really surprised that it took this long to get a human version of the iconic LEGO mug. LEGO have been releasing various cups, mugs and other kitchen accessories, but never one with the shape and style of the minifigure mug. But now we can finally join our minifigs in their coffee addiction!
The new human-size LEGO mug is more than 10 times larger than the ones you find in your LEGO sets and perfect for when you need to take a break from building. They measure over 5” (13cm) high, 3” (10cm) wide with handle, and 3” (8cm) in diameter. And if you get more than one mug, you can stack them to save storage space. The mugs are currently available in blue and translucent purple at the Online LEGO Shop, and I have also heard that there is also a red version at official LEGO stores. They are made of ABS plastic and are rated safe for 95 Celsius or 203 Fahrenheit. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe. You can get them under the home accessories section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Another new item in the home accessories section that is worth mentioning is the #40154 LEGO Pencil Pot. LEGO regularly releases brick-built pencil-holders and other desk accessories, and this is their latest version. It’s a nice little house that features a removable roof, 2 minifigs, and 3 rooms for storing your pencils, pens, rulers, erasers, etc. It makes a nice little gift item for both kids and adults. You can find it under the home accessories section of the Online LEGO Shop.
And there is one more item I wanted to show you; the LEGO Notebook with Studs. This is not the first LEGO notebook or journal with some studs for a building surface, however what is particularly unique about this notebook is the included 1×1 letter tiles in assorted colors! These letters tiles only appeared in black previously and they are a highly sought-after item – great for adding signs, names, etc. to your LEGO creations. I’m very happy to see that the tiles are now finally available in some other colors! The 6×24 stud green baseplate and the 2×2 tile with the LEGO logo (for the clasp) are also unique to this notebook. I also really like the cover. The notebook is hardcover with lined pages, and there is a minifig outline at the bottom corner of each page. If you want to check it out, it is available under the home accessories section of the Online LEGO Shop.
So what do you think? How do you like the LEGO mugs? Are you planning to get one for yourself so you can join your minifigs in their world? Or are you planning to get one as a gift to someone? And what do you think of the pencil-holder and notebook? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

Definitely saw the red cups at the Beachwood Lego Store (Cleveland), just yesterday. They also had the blue and trans-purple ones seen online.
Curious as to why they wouldn’t have the red ones online.
James, it’s probably just some distribution issue. The red one will likely be listed online as well at some point.
Aw, I want one. Too bad I spent all of my money on Ninjago and AoU… 🙁
Pretty neat. I won’t get one, though, as I don’t need it, plus $13 is a lot for just a mug (but as a LEGO mug, I’ll let it slide). However, I really like the Pencil Pot, not for the storage space, but for the parts and minifigs. Lots of useful bricks with that. 🙂 The notebook is neat as well, the colored letter-tiles are great. I’m not sure I like the red, though, maybe orange would have been a better choice. 😕
