As usual, a new month means new LEGO deals, and this time of the year is particularly exciting as we gear up for the year-end holidays. So let’s take a look at what LEGO has for us this month! ๐
โก FREE LEGO CREATOR HOLIDAY TRAIN: Just like in previous years, LEGO is going to offer two free sets; one in October and one in November. The first one is the #40138 LEGO Creator Holiday Train, which will be available October 13th to November 13th with purchases of $99 or more – while supplies last. This is an incredibly cute little train that I think makes up for the lack of new LEGO Winter Village set this year.
โก LEGO CREATOR WINTER TOY SHOP: Speaking of the LEGO Winter Village sets, the #10249 LEGO Creator Winter Toy Shop is now available to everyone, not just LEGO VIP members. You can read the full review of this set, along with a comparison to the 2009 version here: Brick Breakdown: LEGO Winter Toy Shop. If you don’t have the original set already, I’m sure you will be very happy with this one, and if you do, you might still consider purchasing it for the upgrades. Also, don’t forget about last year’s #10245 LEGO Santa’s Workshop and the LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Friends Advent Calendars. You can find them all under the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.
โก NEW LEGO THANKSGIVING SET: And talking about holidays, don’t forget about the #40123 LEGO Thanksgiving Feast set, a charming little vignette with great details. It is only $9.99, and you can find it under the season items section of the Online LEGO Shop.
โก LEGO STAR WARS FREE POSTER & NEW SETS: September was huge for LEGO Star Wars as the new “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” sets were unveiled. You can find reviews to all of the sets at the end of this post. In addition, the sixth and final LEGO Star Wars Collectible Poster will be available from October 26th – November 1st with any LEGO Star Wars purchase. As we have discussed previously (see: LEGO Star Wars Posters Collection for 2015), there are six free collectible posters – one for each episode – but the time you can get them is quite short so you need to pay attention to the dates. All the new sets are available at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
โก LEGO DOUBLE VIP POINTS PERIOD: According to the calendar above, from October 1st to the 4th you can earn Double VIP Points on all LEGO purchases. This is an excellent and rare opportunity to accumulate points for future purchases. As you can see, the time period listed is very short, however LEGO’s customer service have confirmed that this is incorrect and the actual period is until October 14th. You can earn Double VIP Points both at local LEGO stores and at the Online LEGO Shop.
โก LEGO IDEAS WALL-E AVAILABLE NOW: While this set supposed to have been released at the beginning of last month, it was not available until towards the end of the month because of delays due to defective hinge bricks at the neck section of the model. This only effected the North American market, and the set is now available under the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop. You can also read a full review of the set here: LEGO Ideas WALL-E Available Now!
โก LEGO DIMENSIONS AVAILABLE NOW: The LEGO Dimensions toys-to-life game was released a few days ago, and while previously it was only available on Amazon, it now has a dedicated section at the LEGO shop as well. We have written a guide to the sets here: LEGO Dimensions Available Now – Full Guide. You can find all the current starter packs and add-on packs at the LEGO Dimensions section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Also, don’t forget about the huge wave of new sets that were released in the last couple of months! This is a great time to get them due to the Double VIP Points period. Some of the highlights include the new LEGO Ninjago sets, the new LEGO Friends sets, new LEGO Elves sets, new LEGO Scooby-Doo sets, new LEGO Minecraft sets, new LEGO Technic sets and more. You can find links to details and reviews at the end of this posts.
So what do you think? What are you planning to get and build this month? Feel free to share in the comment section below! Also, if you are having trouble choosing which set to get, you are welcome to discuss it here. The LEGO fan community can help you in making a decision. Sometimes all it takes is just talking it through with likeminded friends.

Thanks for the notice about the double vip points period! I also thought it was only four days, but I have confirmed that it is until the 14th. So the double vip points period and the holiday train promo overlaps for two days!
Yes, there are a couple of days when the two promotions overlap, which is great! ๐
Not much of interest this month, I see. I do like the train, but I think I’ll save my money until next month, for the Gingerbread House.
I note you have forgotten something: Mixels Series 6 is available now. ๐
Also, 2 things. First, the Ultra Agents page has disappeared off of LEGO Shop US. It’s just gone. You can still get to the individual set pages by googling them (most sets are still available), but if you try to go to the theme page from there, it takes you to the “What’s new” section. Second, first Nexo Knights image: http://brickset.com/article/16921/first-unwatermarked-nexo-knights-image I like the look of that moving castle, but not much else. ๐ Lots of new molds as well.
Yeah, I forgot about the Mixels. I will probably write a separate post about them.
The Online LEGO Shop has been acting really funky all day (usual for the beginning of the month – I really hope that one day they will fix their website problems). I can’t even get to the checkout page and when I click on different categories it throws me back to the homepage. I do have a couple of Ultra Agents sets in my cart and they show up fine. I was hoping they might go on sale before they completely disappear.
Anyhow, I’m in the middle of writing an article about Nexo Knights. I have actually seen the preliminary images of the sets, and they don’t really look like what you see on the poster. Especially the characters. I really hope they will look like what’s on the poster and not what I have seen on the set images from next year’s catalog.
I actually like the train better than the gingerbread house, but I guess this way we won’t fight over them. ๐
Actually, the Ultra Agents have been missing since the 29th, when the Dimensions sets were added. And I too hope they go on sale, hopefully during the Brick Friday weekend, as that’s when I plan to buy a few. Discounts will help.
I’ve seen sketches of the Nexo Knights sets, and one blurry magazine image that I don’t think is preliminary. I don’t really care what the minifigs look like (unless they look ridiculous), I want the Rapid Shooters and other good parts. ๐
Hm… that’s interesting. I also tried pulling up a set, then click on the Ultra Agents category as it shows up above the set, but that also just throws me back to the homepage. I vaguely remember seeing this happen before. I can’t remember what theme it was, but it disappeared for some days, but eventually came back. Hopefully it is just a glitch like that.
I think it might have been Star Wars that disappeared, after a wave of sets was released. Not sure which one. ๐
I note that if you search “Ultra Agents” on LEGO Shop you can see them all. 70161 is now officially a “retired product,” 70163, 70171, and 70173 are sold out, and everything else is available. ๐
Yeah, that could have been it. It was a few months ago, I think. Since now it is confirmed that the double VIP points period lasts until the 14t, I’m thinking of delaying my purchase until then, so I can get that super cute train, and Double VIP Points. I hope it doesn’t run out by then, and hopefully the Ultra Agents sets will be there too. ๐
Wow! For once that holiday train promo set is a good deal! That’s a substantial model for such a large purchase. In years past I feel that the promo sets haven’t been as good.
Gotta love the double point promos. I was able to stock up on the older modulars (Pet Shop/Parisian Restaurant) that I was not able to get when they first came out. I didn’t want to take the chance of them being retired before the holidays. Looks like I might have to purchase another set this month and next to ensure I get one of those trains and gingerbread houses.
I missed out on the halloween set, but I’m glad I was able to get the Thanksgiving seasonal set. Do those normally go pretty fast?
Happy LEGO shopping!!
Yeah, I don’t expect the Thanksgiving set to be around for long. The Halloween one lasted only a few days, and the same thing happened this spring as well with the Valentines Day and the Easter set. It’s best to pick them up right away.
Yes, the Double VIP Points period is the perfect time to pick up large sets you have been saving up for. It basically gives you a 10% discount. ๐
