Back in January 2013 LEGO launched a series of video-tutorials by LEGO designers on micro-scale building. The series continued strong until March 2014, with some really excellent tutorials and building tips for your own LEGO creations. The only problem is that the videos are all over the place on LEGO’s channel, so I thought to organize them here. 🙂
➡ LEGO MICRO SQUARE TUTORIALS – SEASON 1: There are fourteen tutorials in this season, posted from January to April of 2013. Each episode is about a minute and a half long and discusses one micro-building technique. In the playlist below I have included all the episodes from this season, along with a list of the episodes and the topics discussed. You can use the drop-down list in the video-player to select the episode you would like to see, or just watch them all.

➡ LEGO MICRO SQUARE TUTORIALS – SEASON 2: There are twelve tutorials in this season with three bonus episodes, posted from November 2013 to March 2014. The tutorials are different than in the last season; they are a bit longer, and instead of focusing on a single micro-building technique, each episode explores different sections of a micro city through a continuous story. The best way to utilize these videos is to watch them in sequence, and to stop to see the various details and building techniques mentioned. It might also be a good idea to make notes about the sections you really like. The bonus episodes are interviews with the three LEGO designers working on LEGO Micro Square project, and are very interesting. In the playlist below I have included all the episodes from this season, along with a list of the episodes and the topics discussed. You can use the drop-down list in the video-player to select the episode you would like to see, or just watch them all.

It appears that the LEGO Micro Square project is now over, as no new episodes have been posted since the end of Season 2. It’s kind of sad, as the tutorials were excellent, with relevant and useful information for both young and old LEGO fans. Micro-building is really fun and doesn’t require a huge collection to get some really impressive results.
What do you think? How do you like the LEGO Micro Square tutorials? Have you used any of the techniques in your own LEGO creations? Would you like LEGO designers to share more tips like these? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

I remember watching some of these a while back. Thanks for putting them all in one place! I will definitely take the time to watch them all as micro building with lego is a great hobby.
Yes, it’s worth going through them. Micro-building is really fun!
Great tutorials! I like that the first wave is more individual lessons, and the second wave takes you to a new level with having to figure out some of the builds. I would love to build that whole modular city!
They should really release that whole thing as a set! They kind of reminded me of the Minecraft Micro World sets released a few years ago. Pretty neat! I also like the more challenging builds in the second series, but if you are trying to go back to a particular technique or MOC, it is harder to remember in which episode they were. But I guess if you know which module they were in, it’s easier. 🙂
Just watched the season 2 collection. The amount of detail put into those smaller plates they used is quite substantial.
Yeah, those are really sweet.
