2017 LEGO Disney Frozen sets & film trailer

Information about 2017 LEGO sets continues to surface. One interesting set I found a bit surprising is the #41148 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Ice Palace. As you probably know, LEGO already got the #41062 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle, which was first released back in 2015. It’s an extremely popular set that is often on backorder, so I guess LEGO decided to make a new one. 🙂

The new #41148 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Ice Palace (see above) is 701 pieces, so it is almost two and a half times larger than the 292-piece #41062 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Elsa’s Sparking Ice Castle (see below). And while the 2015 castle is definitely nice with all those snowy white, cool mint, soft lavender, and sparkly blue pieces, the new palace is even nicer with more substantial walls, opening gates, and a larger second-story balcony. If you already have the first set, you may still want to get the second one to create an even larger layout. And if you have been putting off buying the 2015 set because it is a bit small, you might like the 2017 version better.

Another new Disney Frozen set next year will be the #41147 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Anna’s Snow Adventure (see below). It is a small set, with only 153 pieces, but Anna comes with a very pretty new dress, and there are some other nice elements and colors as well.

There will be a third Disney Frozen set as well, but this one in the LEGO Juniors line – meaning, that it is easier to build for younger kids. The #10736 LEGO Juniors Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Playground (see below) got the same color-scheme as the larger castle and palace, so if you like, you can get it as another extension.

Also related is that earlier this year LEGO and Disney announced that they will continue the story of the Frozen film in a LEGO animated series titled LEGO Disney Frozen Northern Lights. Four episodes will air on the Disney Channel, starting on December 9th. The new LEGO animation uses the original voice cast from the film, including Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Josh Gad as Olaf and Jonathan Groff as Sven. A new character is also added named Little Rock. You can watch the trailer below:

As you can see, the Frozen story is still very much alive, and the LEGO Disney Frozen sets are just getting better. Even if you are not a Disney Frozen fan, the sets have been an excellent resource of translucent-blue and mint parts and interesting accessories. Also, the #41066 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure is the only LEGO set ever with a moulded reindeer.

The 2017 sets should be available in January, so we still have to wait a little, but the good news is that from the current sets two of them – #41066 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure and the #41068 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Arendelle Castle Celebration – are 20% off the regular price. And of course the #41062 LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle is still available as well. You can find them all under the LEGO Disney Princess section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I’ll be honest here and say “Frozen” isn’t exactly a favorite Disney movie of mine, but I was surprised at how small the original “Elsa’s Castle” was and I definitely think the new one is much better looking with much more play value for the kiddos as well.

Frankly, I’m not sure why Frozen is so popular either. The story is actually pretty creepy. I mean, “Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let it show…” – how is that healthy for a child? And being locked into a room for your entire childhood? 😕

The LEGO sets however are really sweet with many wonderful pieces. LEGO is awesome being able to turn around even the creepiest stories and characters and make them nice and/or funny. Thank god for LEGO! 😀

We stopped going to WDW because Frozen has taken over so much. My daughter really hates how much merchandising etc. has happened with that theme. Why not let another story have that much space in the parks?? Anyway, that being said we haven’t really looked at the Lego Frozen much but seeing these sets I see a water slide which I like and I know she will want. I also see a campfire with a chocolate bar and a horse. Those will make those sets popular even if there is a Frozen theme to them. Not sure we will go for the new castle. I think I did pick up the old one because I liked the blue but we don’t need it again so soon unless the price is right and it won’t be.

Ah guys. It’s all about the music and pretty girls and magic. Most young kids wouldn’t understand some of the “creepy” themes. It’s all about colour humour flash and again the music. Certainly the new castle is much prettier than the original. We also thought the Arrendelle castle was also a better and more appealing set.

Wow, It turns out that Lego also has Disney version. I like this set, it looks beautiful. Maybe the girl kid will like this set of Lego.
