There are some interesting little promotional LEGO sets that you might not be aware of, and wanted to bring to your attention. The sets are called pods, and include a plastic ball that can be opened, with a minifig and some accessories inside – sort of like Pokémon balls. Below, I will show you the four pods that have been either released already, or scheduled for release sometime in the near future. 🙂
➡ #5004914 LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS ARMOR POD: This pod includes Clay from the LEGO Nexo Knights story, with some assorted weapons and shields. The pod itself is printed both on the outside and the inside with some really nice decorations. Notice the awesome LEGO Classic Space shield! I haven’t been able to find this pod anywhere as of yet, but based on the availability of the other ones, it should show up at official LEGO stores, LEGO Discovery Centers, LEGOLAND Parks, and probably at some point Toys’R’US and the Online LEGO Shop. I would suggest looking for it on eBay, which is also the best source for the other pods.
➡ #5004916 LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE DOJO POD: This pod had been a free promotional item at the Online LEGO Shop in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand with any purchase from The LEGO Ninjago Movie collection. There is no information on if/when it might be available in North America, but it is listed on eBay. It includes Kai, in ninja training suit and a little weapons display rack. And, this pod also has a very cool additional feature; the picture at the front changes, as you move the pod from Kai’s picture to the Fire Ninja symbol. You can see it in action in the video-review below, and find it on eBay: LEGO NINJAGO POD ON EBAY
➡ #5004920 LEGO FRIENDS SKI POD: This pod is related to the LEGO Friends Snow Resort sub-theme that was recently released. It includes Emma in ski outfit, and her ski accessories. The front of the pod has a shifting picture (just like The LEGO Ninjago Movie pod), with the image of the five friends changing into the LEGO Friends logo. Very cool. I’m not sure about the official release channels of this pod, but it is available on eBay: LEGO FRIENDS POD ON EBAY
➡ #5004929 LEGO BATMAN MOVE BATTLE POD: This pod is a promotional item available in Malaysia related to The LEGO Batman Movie, and it is also sold at Toys’R’Us stores in the UK for £6.99. Some LEGOLAND Parks and LEGO Discovery Centers also have them. The set includes Tiger Tuxedo Batman and some awesome Batman accessories, including a 2×2 printed tile. The Batman logo at the front is slightly raised for a cool effect, as you can see in the video-review below. If you can’t find this pod locally, you can get it on eBay: LEGO BATMAN POD ON EBAY
These are the four pods that we know of so far, and I wouldn’t be surprised if more becomes available in the future. They are fun little promotional items, and great collectibles that are not too hard to get, even if you have to purchase them from a third-party.
What do you think? Do you have any of the pods already? Are you collecting them? Or plan to? What other themes and minifigs you would like to see in the collection? Feel free to share your thoughts and own review in the comment section below! 😉

Is that a real printed Classic Space shield, or is it a sticker?
While this set has not been found yet anywhere, I’m certain it’s a print, as all the other pods are printed. 🙂
In my opinion they are not as fun as the Star Wars Planet sets. The pods do not have any studs, or anti-studs on the outside so would be difficult to integrate into a display.
They do have studs on the inside in the form of a 6×6 round plate, so that helps with integration. I’m sure creative LEGO fans will figure out how to use them. Also these were initially meant to be given out as freebies at various retailers, and any free LEGO is good LEGO in my book. Plus, they do look sweet, and have some unique or exclusive features that makes them great collectibles. 😉
These would make party gifts too! I will check if our local lego stores have them. We have three lego stores in our area. 😀
Ahhh… I’m jealous! 😀
#5004929 LEGO BATMAN MOVE BATTLE POD: This pod was available in US Toys”R”US stores this past June. https://slickdeals.net/f/10246276-lego-batman-battle-pod-5004929-4-79-at-toys-r-us-in-store-only
Yes, that is correct. 🙂
I’m definitely going to collect these! So, the Nexo Knights one hasn’t been found anywhere yet? Is it still coming? Or was it canceled?
I was not able to find any information on the Nexo Knights polybag besides the one picture. So, I’m not sure if it is out already, or if it is coming, and where. However, I will be keeping an eye out for it, as I’m interested to get it too. 🙂
I’m really hoping the Kai one will be a September promo in the US. I’ve been holding off on the Dragon Forge in the hopes of hitting up a good promo sometime…
The promos at LEGO stores are going to be the Mini Green Ninja Mech Dragon with orders over $35 and Lloyd with orders over $50, but perhaps Kai will be a TRU or other department store exclusive. There is also going to be some Star Wars promos (Double VIP Points on Star Wars sets and free Scarif Stormtrooper), but that’s pretty much all for LEGO stores.
Well, it’s nice to know that about the Mini Mech Dragon and Lloyd. A TRU exclusive wouldn’t do me any good though. 😛 I’m not going to get a chance to get the set actually shipped to me until November, which is why I’m not having trouble waiting for a promo I like. 😉
Oh, it that case you can certainly wait it out! I know for sure there will be Double VIP Point periods, but I do not know what the freebies are going to be after September.
Something is new for me.
