May is big for LEGO fans due to Star Wars Day on May the 4th. There are a number Star Wars-related promotions you can take advantage of to celebrate the event, which we will talk about below. And Star Wars is not the only thing happening this month. There are other new LEGO sets and promotions as well, so let’s take a look. 🙂
➡ LEGO STAR WARS DAY PROMOTIONS: To celebrate Star Wars Day, LEGO is offering Double VIP Points on most LEGO Star Wars sets, excluding the #75192 LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon, and the #75181 LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-Wing Starfighter. In addition, select LEGO Star Wars sets will be 20% off. Both of these offers are valid May 4-6. On May 4th only, you will also get a free #40288 LEGO Star Wars BB-8 with LEGO Star Wars purchases of $75 or more. We reviewed this adorable little droid here: LEGO Star Wars BB-8 Review & Modifications. All of these promotions are available at LEGO stores and the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO STAR WARS NEW UCS SET: As it has become a tradition, we will get a new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector series set on Star Wars Day. The #75181 LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-Wing Starfighter will be available starting on May 4th. You can see the details of this set in the press release here: LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-Wing Coming!, and find it at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO STAR WARS SOLO SETS AVAILABLE: Although they were released a couple of weeks early, the new wave of LEGO Star Wars sets, mostly related to the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film are also worth mentioning. This includes the #75207 LEGO Star Wars Imperial Patrol Battle Pack, the #75209 LEGO Star Wars Han Solo’s Landspeeder, the #75210 LEGO Star Wars Moloch Landspeeder, the #75211 LEGO Star Wars Imperial TIE Fighter, and the #75212 LEGO Star Wars Kessel Run Millennium Falcon. Another new set is the #65208 LEGO Star Wars Yoda’s Hut. In addition, we also get three new large buildable figures, the #75535 LEGO Star Wars Han Solo, the #75536 LEGO Star Wars Range Trooper, and the #75537 LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul, as well as couple of new LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz characters. See a review of all the new sets here: New LEGO Star Wars Solo Sets & More Review, and find them at the LEGO Star Wars section of the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ FREE LEGO TEEN GROOT KEYCHAIN: Once the Star Wars dust settles, there will be other promotions for the rest of the month. May 7-20 you will get a free LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Teen Groot Keychain with purchases of $50 or more. Not the most exciting freebie, but Groot is cute, and you can always just remove the keychain if you would like to have him as a regular minifig. This offer is valid on all items not just LEGO Super Heroes sets at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO VIP EARLY ACCESS TO TWO NEW SETS: May 16-31 LEGO VIP members will get early access to two new exclusive LEGO sets. The First one is the #10261 LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster we talked about the other day (see: LEGO Creator Roller Coasters Coming!), and the second one is still a mystery. It could be the #70657 LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks, which was just revealed recently, or the #42083 LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, or something completely different. We will just have to wait and see, so keep an eye at the coming soon sets at the Online LEGO Shop.
➡ LEGO JURASSIC WORLD SETS NOW AVAILABLE: Also released in mid-April were the new LEGO Jurassic World sets, including the #75926 LEGO Jurassic World Pteranodon Chase, the #75927 LEGO Jurassic World Stygimoloch Breakout, the #75928 LEGO Jurassic World Blue’s Helicopter Pursuit, the #75929 LEGO Jurassic World Carnotaurus Gyrosphere Escape (see below), the #75930 LEGO Jurassic World Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate, the #75931 LEGO Jurassic World Dilophosaurus Outpost Attack, the #75932 LEGO Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase, and the #75933 LEGO Jurassic World T. Rex Transport. While most of the new LEGO Jurassic World sets are related to the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom film, the #75932 LEGO Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase pays homage to the 25th anniversary of the original Jurassic Park blockbuster film. In addition, there are also several sets for younger kids in the LEGO Juniors and LEGO DUPLO line related to Jurassic World. You can find reviews of all the new sets here: 2018 LEGO Jurassic World Sets Overview, and see them all under the LEGO Jurassic World section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Also, don’t forget about the #41597 LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me customizer kit. I have been playing with this set the last few evenings, and I find it highly enjoyable, interesting and challenging. In fact, it has become one of my favorite LEGO sets of late, and I didn’t even really care about BrickHeadz before (for more details see: LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me Review). You can find the new sets under the LEGO BrickHeadz section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Besides the LEGO Star Wars promotions and new sets for the month, don’t forget about other great sets that have been released since the beginning of the year. May the 4th be with you!!!!
…always! 🙂
That roller coaster! Oh, my! I really would like to see a review of that, or at least a designer video and see how it works.
Hopefully, either ourselves or another blog will have a chance to review the set. I’m also curious about the functions. 🙂
So, we don’t know yet what the second exclusive is going to be on the 16th?
I believe the current thought is that it will be the Bugatti Chiron Technic set. Which follows the line of other really fancy Technic cars.
I think there is even a countdown clock website devoted to this.
https://www.lego.com/en-us/themes/technic/bugatti-chiron
As Will said, it more and more looks like that it might be the Bugatti that VIPs will have early access to. But we shall see…
I think we are going to try some of those new Brickheadz. My older boys are getting into spending more time building instead of just quick building and destroying.
BrickHeadz are definitely fun for older kids. I also recommend the Go Brick Me set for customizing. 🙂
The Solo sets look interesting. And the Jurassic sets too. Too many decisions to make! Too bad only the Star Wars sets get double VIP on May 4th. I might have wanted to mix them a bit.
The 4th may be with you. So, sand speeder and maybe a battle pack . Then I’ll work on the Jurassic world sets and save for the summer sets ( (of which I have a feeling is going to be a lot soon than later ). So, for the past few days i’ve been pulling out older Star Wars sets and re building what ever has been damaged. First : The Ewok Villagea and the battle for Endor set. Second: The final duel set . Third: I got out my Home One Mon Calamari set and through in a couple of A- Wings ( four to be exact). Combined it with the Ewok Village ( minus the Ewoks ) put the Wookie s in there place. Fourth : I decided to combine Force Awakens and Last Jedi . I am going to make the most epic battle scene ever.
Wait… so down with all that awesomeness! That’s an amazing combination! 😀
At first I was thinking of making an Ultimate Echo base but it seems like everyone is doing it . I wanted something different . Now I might throw in Spider droids . However, I think At-St’s are enough. I set it up as if Darth Vader didn’t die and he convinced Kylo Ren to turn to the Darkside. Luke trains Rey to become a Jedi . Han Solo did die but, not from Kylo Ren . Han dies in battle. I know it’s not how the story goes and there’s going to be a lot of Star Wars fans that are going to criticize. Imagination is an endless juorney, unless we mix reality with it. ( no that’s not a quote from Yoda) . It’s from me.
Imagination and reality can be mixed, though, depending on your story.
That’s a great story line! 😀
True, I think you get my point . So , how crazy would it be if Maz became Queen of the Jawas. ( just stretching my imagination).
Sounds totally reasonable to me! 😀
Let’s see… what to get… decisions are killing me! So, if you don’t want Star Wars, the only special is the Groot keychain for the entire month?
May is always most special for Star Wars fans, so no, there is not a whole lot going on otherwise. But you never know what they might throw in. Back in March, LEGO added a long period of Double VIP Points on all sets that wasn’t even advertised. 😀
May the 4th be with you!
…always! 🙂
