One of the most popular LEGO sets this Christmas season has been the #10290 LEGO Creator Pickup Truck. Although it isn’t specifically made for Christmas, the vintage style, the dark-red and tan color-scheme, and the included winter decorations like the wreath and festive gifts make this set perfect as a Christmas gift or decoration. If you would like to learn more about this set, check the links at the end of this post.
While the #10290 LEGO Creator Pickup Truck is a lovely set for Christmas, it is much larger than minifig-scale and thus not compatible with the LEGO Winter Village series. This prompted some LEGO fans to try to make a smaller version of the vintage pickup so it can be added to the LEGO Winter Village scene.
If you would like to build your own mini pickup truck, I recommend the version above by Miro, as it comes with step-by-step building instructions and a parts-list that can be downloaded from Rebrickable. Please note that there are a couple of rare pieces in this model, but they can be substituted with other pieces. One of those rare pieces is the dark-red roof element, but it can be replaced with two 2×4 tiles. And the dark-red door hinges are rare as well. You could make the doors fixed, at least temporarily, until you can order the right parts online. Or, you may be able to find some other solution with the parts you already have. To see the full parts-list and to download the building instructions, visit this Rebrickable page: 1950s Pickup Truck by Miro
I also recommend checking out some of the other custom building instructions by Miro, like the LEGO Winter Village Tram, the LEGO Winter Village Train Station, the LEGO Winter Village Cider Mill, and many other delightful and cute models.

This is fabulous! Thank You! 🤗
Ha! I wanted to do this! Perfect timing!
I’m tempted to make a dark blue one. I wonder if all the parts are available in that color. I always liked the winter village vehicles.
Yes the dark blue one should be doable. I think it’s a great color option.
Lego should release more vintage cars. Minifig scale. They could do tjem like the speed champions series.
Hmm, could possibly work, if done well.
Personally, I find the Speed Champions a rather middling theme. Then, I’m not really a car guy and the cars often tend to look too alike rendered in blocky Lego bricks…
I tend to like Lego’s in-house racing themes, such as Stuntz, better than Speed Champions. I like the over-the-top, cartoony look more than the more or less successful attempts of capturing the look of real-life cars…
(I can like the Speed Champions sets that would do something differently, such as 75875 Ford F-150 Raptor & Ford Model A Hot Rod, 75894 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 MINI John Cooper Works Buggy and 76904 Mopar Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A, but they’re pretty few and far between…)
Yeah, I like in-house racing themes better too, and for the same reasons you mentioned. But collectors prefer replicas, so it makes sense for LEGO to cater to both types of audiences.
I have seen a couple of other versions, but I think this is also my favorite. I love how it captures almost all of the details of the larger version.
Thank you for the spotlight. I am happy to see that others like my mini version of the dark red pickup truck. I have a few colored version I have built, the dark red one and a yellow/brown one.
Hallo,
leider funktioniert der Link nicht mehr zu der Teileliste und Bauanleitung.
Könnte mir wer dazu etwas senden?
Gruss
