A new set that was just recently added to the Online LEGO Shop is the #40634 LEGO Icons of Play set, featuring half a soccer field with a goal and VAR station, stands with a scoreboard, a ceremonial stage, and more.
Some of the included 15 minifigures represent famous soccer players like crafty and creative Megan Rapinoe, the multi-talented Yūki Nagasato, world-class striker Sam Kerr, and global superstar Asisat Oshoala. This is a fun gift idea for soccer lovers to build, play with, and display.
The half soccer field with goal and VAR station measures over 7.5 in. (20 cm) high, and 14 in. (36 cm) wide, In the video below, you can see all the play-features of the set.
Unfortunately, the set only includes half a soccer field. It’s still playable, but if you want a full soccer field experience, you would need to purchase two sets. If you want to check it out, it’s available for $99.99 at the sports section of the Online LEGO Shop.
A similar set to consider is the #21337 LEGO Ideas Table Football set for $249.99. This is a much more complex set featuring a traditional table football setup, but the actual playing field is smaller than in the #40634 LEGO Icons of Play set. You might even consider combining some of the features of the two sets to make your own soccer field. If you want to check it out, the #21337 LEGO Ideas Table Football set is also currently available at the sports section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I don’t get it. Why did they make this a half field?
Yeah, like why do I have to buy two sets just to make a soccer field?
Yes, but if you get a second set how you make a second team? They can’t all wear the same uniform! So you have to get players too, not just a second set.
I like the design, but I think I will just make one myself by downloading the instructions. Cool though.
I think the set would have worked better if there was a more thought out plan for the play features, and the stars were sold in separate battle packs with small side builds.
If the players were foosball-like customizable, it would make more sense to buy a second half pitch, than now when you mainly get doublets of the same stars…
(I suspect the licenses bump up the price somewhat, as well, although I’m not really sure on how much…)
Just ordered the set. I think it has interesting possibilities and side builds. Part of the question is what it takes to build the other half of the field by oneself. As pointed out, a second set would give duplicate players, not a second team.
