LEGO Jules Verne’s Book Freebie This Weekend Only!

As we discussed earlier this week, there is a new promotional set available at the Online LEGO Shop. You can get the #40690 LEGO Tribute to Jules Verne’s Books set free with purchases of $150 or more this weekend only at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

The 351-piece set measures over 4 in. (11 cm) high, 6 in. (15 cm) wide, and 5.5 in (14 cm) deep, and includes details from three of Verne’s most beloved novels; Around the World in Eighty Days, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and Five Weeks in a Balloon. The set also features a Jules Verne minifigure. Even though this is a small set, it captures the essence of Verne’s visionary tales with a mix of steampunk aesthetics and intricate machinery pop-up book style!

Another currently available freebie is the #40688 LEGO Trophy Award with purchases of $65 or more from LEGO City, LEGO Classic, LEGO Friends, LEGO Ninjago, and LEGO DreamZzz. This offer is valid until June 27th at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop.

The customizable trophy comes with a variety of stickers and tiles so kids can switch up the design to match their latest success. Alternatively, they can choose a message for a friend or loved one. The set includes 4 smaller tiles with stickers to represent first place, gaming, music, and sport, 5 larger stickers with different messages (’Best Mom,’ ’Best Dad’, ’Best Friend’, ’Champion’ and ’Well Done’), plus customizable ribbon details in a variety of colors. The trophy measures over 4 in. (11 cm) high, 4 in. (10 cm) wide,
and 2.5 in. (7 cm) deep and makes a great display in tribute to various achievements.

What do you think? How do you like the new freebies? Are you planning to get them? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below!

I wish the promotion period for the Verne set was longer. A single weekend feels too short for such a cool set.

I love the Jules Verne set! It’s such a unique tribute to his amazing stories. Definitely planning to hit the $150 mark to get it this weekend!

I’m not thrilled about the $150 minimum purchase requirement. That’s a bit steep just for a promo.

Does anyone know if this set will be available for purchase separately in the future? I really want it, but I don’t have $150 to spend right now.

You can always get it on BrickLink. It should be around $25-$35.

Here is the link. There are only a few listed right now, but if you can wait a bit longer, there will be more. Many people try to compensate for their purchase by selling the promo set (if they don’t really want it). The price will likely come down too in a week or two. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=40690-1#T=P

I’m not really interested in the trophy set, but the Jules Verne set is a definite win for me. My grandpa had a collection of all his books. He passed away years ago, but he would have loved this set!

I would love to see some more sets based on Verne’s books. We need more steampunk!

Technically, I guess Jules Verne is not steampunk proper, but rather science fiction, as envisioned by a 19th century mind.

The style is still quite cool, though.

So sad! Finally had time to sit at a computer to place an order and it’s no longer available. 🙁

Where are you located? At least in North America, the set is still available.

I just received the two promos in the mail. The Jules Verne one is really great.
I’m curious. For a couple of years, Lego had promotional bags offered with $50 purchases. I thought those were really neat — and at a very reasonable purchase price. How come they stopped/
    I miss them!!!
