Yesterday, the LEGO Group revealed a cosmic tribute to the iconic LEGO Blacktron Future Generation series with the new #10355 LEGO Icons Blacktron Renegade set.
First introduced in the 1980s, the Blacktron Renegade was a fan-favorite spaceship from the LEGO Classic Space era, known for its distinctive black and yellow design and unsymmetrical shape. Combining nostalgia and a modern design, this collectible spaceship model recreates the Blacktron Renegade in staggering detail, offering fans a chance to rediscover the thrill of building classic LEGO space adventures.
Designed for adult builders, this modular masterpiece includes exciting new features such as a planet-rover drop pod, retractable landing gear, and two wing-mounted space speeders. Fans can bring the set to life with the three Blacktron minifigures, a droid figure, and online instructions to rebuild the Renegade into an amplified version of the 1980s Blacktron Alienator.
This 1,151-piece set is the ultimate gift for collectors and LEGO space-themed enthusiasts. The Renegade measures over 3.5 in. (9 cm) high, 18.5 in. (47 cm) long, and 11.5 in. (30 cm) wide. It comes with two separate building instructions, making it perfect as a solo or build-together project for family and friends. And the parts are packaged in environmentally friendly paper bags! Speaking of parts, all the decorated elements you see are printed. There are no stickers in this set!
The #10355 LEGO Icons Blacktron Renegade spaceship model building kit is going to be available for LEGO Insiders from the 1st of January, 2025 at the LEGO Icons section of the Online LEGO Shop. and at official LEGO stores for all from the 4th of January, 2025 priced at € 99.99 / £89.99 / $ 99.99. Below, I’m including an interview with Jae Won Lee, the designer of the Blacktron Renegade, by Tiago Catarino (who is a former LEGO designer himself). They discuss the history of the set as well as its play-functions in detail.
A couple of years ago, LEGO released the #10497 LEGO Icons Galaxy Explorer, another remake of a classic LEGO space set. LEGO space fans are excited that the they are getting remakes of their childhood favorites!
