LEGO Ideas Gremlins: Gizmo Available for Pre-Order

You might remember that early last year, the LEGO Ideas team launched an 80s-themed challenge, titled ‘If we could turn back time’. The contest was super popular among LEGO fans who submitted over 290 projects featuring brick-built versions of 80s characters, movies, moments, and memorabilia. There was everything you could possibly imagine, from Bob Ross and the Blues Brothers to Inspector Gadget and Garfield.

In fact, the lineup was so impressive that the LEGO Ideas team decided to select two winners that would be released as official LEGO sets. One of the winners was The Goonies (1985) by LEGO fan Delusion Brick (the final design of which hasn’t been revealed yet), and the other winner was Gizmo by LEGO fan terauma, based on the 1984 movie, Gremlins. The final version of this model was revealed yesterday.

The #21361 LEGO Ideas Gremlins: Gizmo poseable figure allows you to capture all of Gizmo’s adorable characteristics in LEGO style. He can either be standing up or sitting down, his head rotates, and his ears, arms, hands, fingers, and feet are all adjustable to create different looks.

The set also includes iconic accessories to make your display even more irresistible: a water splash element, alluding to how water makes Mogwais replicate, which attaches to Gizmo’s back, plus brick-built 3D glasses like the ones Gizmo used to read comic books.

This LEGO Ideas building set for adults makes a delightful nostalgic gift for movie lovers, allowing them to create fantasy decor that will make any Gremlins fan smile. The set contains 1,125 pieces. Prices are as follows: 109.99 USD / 99.99 EUR / 89.99 GBP

The official release date for #21361 LEGO Ideas Gremlins: Gizmo is October 1st, but you can already pre-order the set at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

I don’t get why people want sets like this, but hey, as long as Lego keeps making proper playsets, it’s cool.

Same thoughts. I wonder how many of these sets they sell. They are only good for display.

Lego’s really discovered that tapping into nostalgia is like printing money.
