JOB DESCRIPTION

Ready to build the future of online experiences for the LEGO BrickLink community? Join us as a Digital Product Designer Intern, where your creativity meets collaboration in creating accessible and engaging designs that empower users. If you’re passionate about human-centered design and eager to dive into the vibrant world of digital product design, this is your chance to make a real impact! Please note that this is a full-time internship position lasting for 6 months.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The BrickLink Digital Product Designer Intern will report to the Senior Digital Product Design Leader of BrickLink and collaborate with other designers on the team to shape the future of BrickLink’s online experiences.
  • Be a champion for human-centered design, universal design principles, and accessibility by design.
  • Help develop incredible experiences for shoppers, sellers, and designers.
  • Support the planning, creation, and execution of user research and user testing.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the diverse LEGO BrickLink community members.
  • Contribute to the development of wireframes and prototypes.
  • Play a crucial role in crafting the strategic vision for user research and testing.
  • Work closely with designers specializing in digital products across various product teams to exchange feedback and maintain consistency across all products.
  • Assist with composing our design system.
  • Assist with Service Design workflows: journey mapping, service blueprints, and workshop facilitation.
  • Participate in ideation workshops and design sprints.

In this internship role, you’ll join a highly collaborative team that strives toward a shared vision of lowering entry barriers and empowering members with inclusive, accessible, and powerful experiences. Your primary responsibility will be working hand-in-hand with our Senior Service Designer to explore future business strategies, facilitate workshops with digital product teams, and plan and conduct user research and testing. This will all serve to test bold new initiatives for innovating the way BrickLink users complete their tasks and fuel their passions on our platform!

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent program in Human-Computer Interaction Design (HCID) or a related field.
  • Background in digital product design (UX/UI) with experience in user-centric design.
  • Proficiency in leading all aspects of user research and testing coordination, and implementation.
  • Experience with service design methodologies, including journey mapping, service blueprints, and a solid understanding of foundational research tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to work in an agile, multi-functional team, bringing a proactive and optimistic approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in building mock-ups, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to visualize and test ideas.
  • Confidence in communicating and explaining design work to stakeholders and team members, focusing on storytelling and advocating for user needs across the organization.
  • Proficiency in Figma.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

HYBRID WORKING MODEL

This role is based in our office in Irvine, CA, and is not available for fully remote work. Our workplace empowers LEGO Group colleagues to excel in their roles. Our hybrid working model, with three days in the office, exemplifies our commitment to embracing the diverse life situations of our colleagues while fostering collaboration and innovation. Please note: The internal title will be Digital Product Designer Intern, and the internal level will be Support.

The hourly wage for the position has a range of $0.00 – $41.70 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of any benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
