The #60469 LEGO City Central Train Station has so many features and has so much potential for expansion that it’s really worth discussing in detail.
The set features a 3-story train station with a platform on each side of the tracks, a working elevator, a clock tower, a control room, a coffee bar, and a seating area with a transparent roof made of garage door pieces. The set does not come with a train, but it does include a maintenance railcar equipped with a cherry picker, plus 6 minifigures, a baby, and 2 pigeons (a new bird for this year). The set is clearly meant to be paired with any of the LEGO train sets, and it could be a busy hub in a LEGO City diorama. The train station in this 752-piece building set measures over 13 in. (33 cm) high, 17.5 in. (44 cm) wide and 12 in. (30 cm) deep, and the price is $99.99 at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.
Although this train station is complete in itself, you can also consider it a slice of a much larger central station for LEGO City trains. You may notice the unusual feature of having a platform on both sides of the tracks joined by the central tower. This setup could be considered a slice of a much deeper building. For example, take a look at the expansion below by tripling the depth of the station. It looks much more like a central station, doesn’t it?
And what about this wider and even deeper version, accommodating two trains? Now, that’s a proper central train station!
In the video below, LEGO fan KeXy, discusses these alternate versions of the stations and the options you might consider.
As you can see, the #60469 LEGO City Central Train Station is an excellent set in itself, but it also has so much potential for expansion! If you are considering adding a station or even a central hub for your LEGO trains, this set is a great option! If you want to check it out, it is available at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.
