LEGO VIP early access to Black Friday deals

Just a reminder that this weekend LEGO VIP members get early access to the LEGO Brick Friday offers, and also earn Double VIP Points on all purchases. The offer is valid at official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop. This is a perfect time to take care of your LEGO holiday shopping needs, and avoid the hassle of driving around and fighting the crowds after Thanksgiving. And you also have a better chance of getting the sets you want before they disappear from shelves.

To help with your holiday shopping, LEGO sent out the 2016 LEGO Big Holiday Catalog. If you are on their mailing list, you should have gotten it by now. If you didn’t get it yet, but you would like to, you can call LEGO’s customer service for a copy. The 2016 LEGO Big Holiday Catalog is very helpful with planning out your Christmas shopping, as it includes all of the best LEGO sets of the year, suggestions for different budgets, age-groups and building-skills, and even a blank page to compile wish-lists. And for online shoppers, LEGO set up some useful holiday shopping pages on their website.

➡ LEGO HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP: The dedicated LEGO Holiday Gift Shop is all about helping with your shopping. You might use this page yourself, or direct people here who are planning to get a LEGO gift for you. The LEGO Holiday Gift Shop is broken down into three sections; the Hottest Gifts for 2016 page, the Stocking Suffers page, and the Ultimate Gifts page. You can search by specific Themes, Interests, What’s New, Sales and Deals, Exclusives, and extra items like Books, Video-Games, Apparel & Accessories, and more. Keep in mind that the website’s design was completely overhauled recently, so it may take a bit to familiarize yourself with the new navigation options. I normally use the Sets dropdown list and select from the Themes I want to see, or use the search box at the top of the page to find the exact set I’m looking for. ➡ LEGO SALES & DEALS: It is worth keeping an eye on this tab from now to the end of the year, as this is where LEGO is going to get rid of old stock they don’t want to carry into next year. Within the next few weeks we will discuss other places to shop for LEGO, but nothing is as sure as shopping from the company directly. Sometimes with retailers, you may end up with a set that has been opened and the content removed, giving you the hassle and headache of trying to return it. This has been a growing problem in the past few years as crooks realize that LEGO sets and minifigs are popular and valuable. Shopping from LEGO gives you the peace of mind that this won’t happen. Imagine little Timmy opening a brand-new looking LEGO set on Christmas morning, only to find garbage inside!

2017 LEGO Ninjago Hands of Time sets

As we get closer to the end of the year, LEGO fans start to get curious about what will next year bring. LEGO already released a number of images of 2017 LEGO sets, and we have discussed many of them already (see links at the end of this post). One of the most popular themes is LEGO Ninjago, and since the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets were revealed just a few days ago, I thought this would be a good time to discuss them. 🙂

The first wave of 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets are based on the upcoming seventh season of the LEGO Ninjago TV show, titled “The Hands of Time”. The story continues from the LEGO Ninjago: Day of the Departed TV special, and focuses on Kai, Nya, and their parents. While we don’t know the details of the story yet, looking at the sets it is clear that it plays out in some kind of jungle setting with lots of snakes and evil looking samurai.

➡ #70621 LEGO NINJAGO THE VERMILLION ATTACK: This is the smallest of the 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets, but one of the best, as it includes two of the new badguys with unique armor pieces, and a very strange metallic cocoon which will appear in some of the other sets as well. Take a look at that beautiful samurai armor and two fantastic helmets! 83 pieces. Price should be around $10.

➡ #70622 LEGO NINJAGO DESERT LIGHTNING: This is another smallish set with two bikes, two of the badguys with those unique new helmets, and another samurai-type armor piece. The new ninja suit for Jay also looks amazing! 201 pieces. My guess is that this set will be around $20, based on the fact that there is a very similar set currently available with two bikes and three minifigures.

➡ #70623 LEGO NINJAGO DESTINY’S SHADOW: This is a mid-size set with a smallish ship that uses two olive-green canoes to shape the back section. Olive-green is always a welcome color, so this set should be popular. The ninja suits for Lloyd and Cole are nice as well, but we only get one of the badguys. 360 pieces.

➡ #70624 LEGO NINJAGO VERMILLION INVADER: Here you can see two more of those new cocoon pieces, but this time more rounded and used as projectiles. They should be very useful for space and fantasy builders. Zane is fighting the two badguys and their awesome machine. 313 pieces.

➡ #70625 LEGO NINJAGO SAMURAI VXL: What a nicely shaped vehicle we got here! Also notice that this is the first time we see Nya without wearing any red in her outfit. And check out that samurai with gold facemask! This is the first time this piece appears in gold. The badguys’ weapons look awesome as well! 428 pieces.

➡ #70626 LEGO NINJAGO DAWN OF IRON DOOM: This is one of the largest sets in the first wave of 2017 LEGO Ninjago sets, and there is a lot to see. Obviously that snake-mech thingy is the biggest attraction, but the tower is also nice. And this is the first time we get the ranger hood in black! 704 pieces.

➡ #70627 LEGO NINJAGO DRAGON’S FORGE: This is the largest set in the collection, with another large snake, a two-headed fire-water dragon, a fairly large building with a forge, and Kai and Nya’s parents! Looking forward to see the story behind this! 1,137 pieces.

As you can see, this is another fantastic wave of LEGO Ninjago sets. I particularly like the new accessories for the badguys, and it is nice to see that they will be available in all of the sets, including the smallest ones. It is also great that none of these sets are too big or expensive, so it shouldn’t be difficult to collect them all, if you choose to. It’s quite amazing that after all these years, LEGO is still able to churn out interesting stories and amazing sets under LEGO Ninjago.
