The LEGO Batman Movie new trailer & more!

You might remember our discussion on the upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie (see: LEGO Batman & LEGO Ninjago Movies Update), scheduled for release in February 2017. At the recent San Diego Comic-Con a new movie poster, a second trailer, and two new sets related to the movie were revealed. Details below. 🙂

LEGO Batman 2017 Movie Poster

While the previous The LEGO Batman Movie poster only showed the Batman logo, in the new poster we can see Bruce Wayne himself, with a new hairpiece! And in the trailer below we get introduced to young Robin, the story setup, as well as more details about the awesome Batcave.

Two of the vehicles that you see in the trailer are already confirmed as upcoming LEGO sets. The #70905 LEGO The Batmobile comes with Batman, Robin, Man-Bat, and the Kabuki Twins. Notice that Batman features a new utility belt piece, and Robin wears goggles attached to his hairpiece. The Batmobile itself is quite interesting with red highlights, and a new translucent-yellow windscreen that LEGO Classic Space fans will be very happy about. The set comes with 581 pieces, and is priced at $59.99.

The second The LEGO Batman Movie set is the #70906 LEGO The Joker’s Notorious Lowrider. It comes with The Joker, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn. All three minifigures are amazingly detailed and include some new pieces (notice the same new utility belt on Batgirl as on Batman). The lowrider itself is already causing a lot of excitement amongst LEGO fans for its radical look and colors. This set comes with 433 pieces, and is priced at $49.99.

And here is the official description of the film from Comic-Con with a bit more detail: In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Will Arnett reprises his starring role from “The LEGO Movie” as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis stars as The Joker; Michael Cera as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred. “The LEGO Batman Movie” is directed by Chris McKay and produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, with additional screenplay material by Jared Stern & John Whittington, based on LEGO Construction Toys, in association with LEGO System AS. Chris McKay also serves as an executive producer, alongside Ryan Harris. A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, “The LEGO Batman Movie” will open in theaters on February 10, 2017. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

LEGO Batman Movie 1 LEGO Batman Movie 2

Looks like this is going to be a very fun movie, however what I’m most excited about are the new sets and pieces. The two new sets already revealed look great, and I’m sure there will be many more (maybe even as many as with The LEGO Movie?). There is also potential for getting some of those Batsuits, and new hairpieces that we can spot in the trailer. Exciting, isn’t it? And while we are waiting you can also check out the currently available Batman sets at the Online LEGO Shop.
