2016 LEGO Inside Tour registration opens!

Participating in the LEGO Inside Tour is considered the ultimate, once-in-a-lifetime experience by many LEGO fans – at least the ones who know that it even exists. The event is actually so exclusive that most people never even heard of it. Registration for the 2016 LEGO Inside Tour is opening up very soon, so if you are interested, read on. 🙂

LEGO Inside Tour

The LEGO Inside Tour is multi-day event in Billund, Denmark, specifically designed for LEGO fans to get to know their favorite company more intimately. During the tour you are invited inside Ole Kirk Kristiansen’s original house, featuring an extraordinary exhibition of LEGO sets and models that date back to 1934. You will meet LEGO employees and especially LEGO designers, who will introduce you to their daily work at the LEGO Group, and you will take part in a unique building experience together with LEGO designers. Part of the LEGO Inside Tour consists of a factory tour, where you can see how LEGO bricks are produced. The LEGO Inside Tour also stops at the LEGO staff shop. At the end of the tour, you will receive a unique gift exclusively produced in close cooperation with Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen especially for this year’s LEGO Inside Tour participants.

Even though few people know about the LEGO Inside Tour, the event has actually been around for over a decade. However because the tour is so exclusive and quite expensive, for a lot of people it remains a dream to be fulfilled. There are usually three or four tour dates per year, and only about 25 people are allowed for each. So every year only about 75-100 people can participate. You can read more about what you can expect at the LEGO Inside Tour here: The LEGO Inside Tour – Introduction, and I also linked to some reviews at the end of this post. Keep in mind that LEGO likes to keep this event super special, so there might be some changes from year to year.

The price per person for taking part in LEGO Inside Tour is 14,500 DKK (or about 2,100 USD). The price includes 2 overnight stays including breakfast (Wednesday until Friday), catering (Wednesday and Thursday) and an entry ticket to LEGOLAND. All communication on the LEGO Inside Tour is in English. LEGO fans taking part in the tour must be at least 7 years old. Children and teenagers between 7 and 17 years must be accompanied by an adult participant. Travel costs to and from Hotel LEGOLAND and additional overnight stays are not included in the price. Participants are responsible for taking care of their additional travel arrangements outside the LEGO Inside Tour.

Sign up for the LEGO Inside Tour 2016 will be open from November 9, 2015, 10:00 am CET until November 13 2015, 10:00 am CET. Sign up will be provided via a link to an online-registration form. The link will be published November 9 2015 at 10:00 am CET. LEGO Inside Tour 2016 will take place on 4 dates in 2016: May 11-13 2016 / May 25-27 2016 / June 8-10 2016 and June 22-24 2016. Sign up here: LEGO INSIDE TOUR SIGN UP

Please note that the above mentioned sign up period is pretty much irrelevant for all practical purposes. In previous years all dates were sold out within just a few minutes after registration opened. So if you want to go, you really have to be at your computer when registration opens. If you are in North America, this means after midnight tonight. To give you an idea, 10 am CET is 1 AM on the West Coast and 4 AM on the East Coast. You can use a time-converter to check the specific time in your area.

Only fully completed sign up forms are accepted, and signing up for the LEGO Inside Tour does not automatically register you for the tour. LEGO reserves the right to not consider sign ups or to reject sign ups. In general LEGO focuses on first-time participants who have not joined a LEGO Inside Tour before. If you wish to take part in the tour together with family members, friends or others, you must sign up together. You can include up to five people in the sign up form. LEGO will inform you via e-mail about your participation in the LEGO Inside Tour. After that you have three days to confirm your participation. Registration is then binding. Non-confirmed attendances will automatically expire after 3 days. Also, you can pick from the above dates as your preference, but LEGO may assign you for one of the other dates. As I said; this tour is super exclusive, so getting in at all on any of the dates is a big deal. Again, you can read more about the event and the rules at the official LEGO Inside Tour page.

LEGO Friends – Episode 8: Kate’s Island

The LEGO Friends film series started airing back in 2012 and it is still going strong. Each episode is about 20 minutes long, and they are quite enjoyable. This episode is titled Kate’s Island, and it’s about pirates, and science, and mysterious clues. The full episode is below. Enjoy! 🙂

LEGO Friends – Episode 8: Kate’s Island is my favorite episode so far. While this particular episode didn’t incorporate any specific LEGO Friends set, the LEGO Friends Jungle series may be a good place to start if you want to recreate the scenes. I’m also hoping that in the future LEGO Friends sets will branch out to interesting sub-stories like this with science-camps, islands and pirates. The LEGO Friends Jungle sets, as well as many other new sets are available at the LEGO Friends section of the Online LEGO Shop.
