LEGO promotions for September & beyond

The beginning of a new month always means new LEGO promotions, so let’s take a look at what’s happening this time. September is usually not as exciting as August when a lot of new sets get released (see: All New LEGO Sets & Promotions for August!), but there are still some offerings you may want to take advantage of. 🙂

LEGO Shopping September

First of all, there are two free promotional items this month; the free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike set that you can get with purchases of $50 or more, is a carry-over from August and will last until September 14th. The second promotional item is the free exclusive LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure (with a little LEGO Classic Space robot). This offer is only available for LEGO VIP members from September 1st to the 14th with purchases of $99 or more. So basically if you make a $100 purchase, you will get both promo sets and of course free shipping.

LEGO Shopping LEGO Store Calendar September

The amazing and monstrous #76023 LEGO Batman The Tumbler is now available for all (not just LEGO VIP members) and you can get it at either official LEGO stores or the Online LEGO Shop. You can read more about this set here: LEGO Batman Tumbler Available Now!

Then from September 17th, LEGO VIP members get early access to this year’s LEGO Holiday exclusive, the #10475 LEGO Santa’s Workshop – a very cute set I will be reviewing within the next few days. The set will be available for non-VIP members in October. You can check out other LEGO holiday sets at the Online LEGO Shop.

I think it is worth placing at least one order in September to get the free LEGO Classic Space Minifigure promo set, otherwise you may consider waiting until October, where the Double VIP Points promotion will begin and last for the entire month. Which basically means that you will get $5 worth of points for every $50 you spend (instead of $100) at official LEGO Stores and the Online LEGO Shop. So October is a good month for making your larger purchases and maximizing the amount of points you get. You can then spend the accumulated points on future purchases. And in November, when the holiday shopping madness officially begins, LEGO will have their own version of Black Friday (called Brick Friday, of course) with discounted prices for LEGO VIP members and some other promotions.

Shop LEGO Creator Sets

Personally I don’t like to wait until November because a lot of the most desirable sets are sold out by then – especially all of the holiday sets like the LEGO Advent Calendars and the LEGO Winter Village sets. I would suggest that if you have a very specific LEGO shopping list for the holidays, you take care of it now or in October to avoid the crowds swooping down on LEGO retailers and the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? How do you like this month’s promotions? Are you planning to get anything this month or saving up for later? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO MINI Cooper & Classic Space fusion

It looks like the recently released #10242 LEGO Creator MINI Cooper is getting lots of love from the LEGO fan community. This set is more suitable for older teens and adults, as it is not so much a play-set, but meant for display – however that doesn’t mean that adults don’t play with them. 🙂

In fact as far as adult-oriented sets are concerned, the LEGO MINI Cooper is full of play-features; like the opening doors, hood and trunk, and that picnic-basket and blanket are just darling. You just want to play around with this thing! And while some people are content to display or play with the original set as it was designed, other LEGO fans are getting inspired to modify the LEGO MINI Cooper.

#10242 LEGO MINI Cooper Details

I have shown you a convertible version of the LEGO MINI Cooper in a previous article, which is super nice (see here), and today I would like to introduce you to a completely different kind of modification – a fusion between two great classics; the MINI Cooper and LEGO Classic Space.

LEGO Mini Cooper - Classic Space

The LEGO Classic Space MINI Cooper was created by Massimiliano Valentini, who is obviously a LEGO Classic Space fan if you look at his flickr gallery. His version of the LEGO MINI Cooper is basically a recolor of the original set, but it does have a different windscreen (due to the fact that the one on the original LEGO MINI is not available in trans-yellow).

LEGO Mini Cooper - Classic Space Version

There are also some really fun modifications like the LEGO Classic Space-style dashboard, the bumblebee-stripes on the seats and the red hubcaps – all so much part of the iconic LEGO Classic Space look.

And how about those powerful audio-speakers (that would make Batman from The LEGO Movie very happy), the very LEGO Classic Space-y engine under the hood at the front, and those giant thrusters in the trunk at the back? Awesome, aren’t they? I guess the lovely picnic-basket had to go… we are talking about a serious space-vehicle here that means business! 🙄

LEGO Mini Cooper - Classic Space Back

As you can see there is so much fun to be had with the #10242 LEGO Creator MINI Cooper! The set itself is great, and you can also take it to new level with your own modifications. If you are interested in this set, it is currently available at the Online LEGO Shop.

So what do you think? How do you like the LEGO Creator MINI Cooper? Do you have the set already? Or is it on your wish-list? And how do you like the LEGO Classic Space version? What other styles would you like to see or considering building? (I think I would like a red one!) Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! 😉
