Unikitty is one of the most interesting characters of The LEGO Movie, so I thought to dedicate this post to her, along with a sweet review-video by JANGBRiCKS of all five forms of Unikitty as they appear in The LEGO Movie and the accompanying LEGO sets. 🙂

The LEGO Movie Unikitty Versions

Unikitty is a Master Builder and the princess of Cloud Cuckoo Land with a complex personality only a half-cat half unicorn could have. “Hailing from Cloud Cuckoo Land, the capital of rainbows and puppies, she is half unicorn, half anime kitten and one endless dance party. She is happy to join her fellow LEGO Master Builders in the quest to defeat Lord Business, but she also has a powerful secret.” – says the official description of Unikitty.

During The LEGO Movie Unikitty appears in five forms, as you can see in the picture above. All of her appearances are brick-built and made up of 14 LEGO pieces; a 1×3 arch for her body with four 1×1 plates for the feet, a 1×1 round plate for the neck, her head is made up of a printed 1×3 brick sandwiched between two 1×3 plates, then she got two “cheese-slopes” for ears, and her horn sits inside a 1×1 round plate with a whole in the middle. The unique LEGO piece created just for Unikitty is her tail.

The LEGO Movie Unikitty Poses

In The LEGO Movie you will see Unikitty takes other shapes where different LEGO pieces are used; like when she is sitting or lying down, or in her most memorable and frightening enraged mode. However in The LEGO Movie sets you will just see different colorations of the standard Unikitty shape. And despite of being brick-built, she actually comes with pretty good articulation; of course her head is movable on her neck, but also the tail can be positioned in five different ways, and her ears can readjusted depending on her mood (just like you see in the movie). Below are the five versions of Unikitty and the sets they appear:

UNIKITTY – This is Unikitty in her normal mode (as much as a half-cat half-unicorn could be normal). She is bubbly, sweet, positive and supportive in this character, maybe even a tad over the top. She appears in the #70803 The LEGO Movie Cloud Cuckoo Palace set.

#70803 The LEGO Movie Set

BIZNIS KITTY – Biznis Kitty is Unikitty’s disguise used for infiltrating the Octan tower. She looks the same as normal Unikitty, but she has glasses, a necktie, and mathematical symbols drawn on her body with black marker. She appears in the #70809 The LEGO Movie Lord Business’ Evil Lair set.

#70809 The LEGO Movie Set

QUEASY KITTY – This is one sick cat! When Emmet and his friends hide in the Double Decker Couch after their submarine breaks apart, Unikitty gets seasick, thus her greenish and unhappy appearance. She appears in the #70810 The LEGO Movie Metalbeard’s Sea Cow set.

#70810 LEGO MetalBeard's Pirate Ship

ASTRO KITTY – This is a really sweet form of Unikitty, when she takes flight on Benny’s Spaceship, along with Emmet and company. She wears a full blue space-suit with a LEGO Classic Space logo printed on her body. She appears in the #70816 The LEGO Movie Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! set.

ANGRY KITTY – This form of Unikitty is one of the most memorable in The LEGO Movie. She gives up her ever-positive nature to protect Emmet, and turns into a terrifying, fire-breathing monster to destroy Lord Business’ robot police team. She even swallows Micro Managers whole! She appears in the #70814 The LEGO Movie Emmet’s Construct-o-Mech set.

Unikitty is voiced by Alison Brie in The LEGO Movie, who is a perfect choice for her character. When I first saw the movie, I wasn’t sure if I could fully trust Unikitty (you should never trust cats!), but by second watching I really liked her. Especially when she was so sad after Cloud Cuckoo Land was destroyed and when she protected Emmet towards the end. She may be a “weird unicorned cat” – as Bad Cop said – but she is awesome after all.

An interesting piece of news I read about a few days ago on Brickset is that a Japanese LEGO blog revealed the first image of some of the #71007 LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 characters. This upcoming series is scheduled to be released in October. In the picture below you can see six of the minifigs coming soon. Take a look! 🙂

LEGO Minifigures Series 12 First Picture

On the catalog image above you can see the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Space Miner, Wizard, Dino Tracker, Battle Goddess, Swashbuckler, and Video Game Guy. The Space Miner looks like an excellent minifigure, and I’m so looking forward to the Wizard! The Dino Tracker girl looks like she is right out of The Hunger Games so I think she will be very popular. The Battle Goddess is one of my favorite minifigures ever; just look at that sweet helmet and shield! The Swashbuckler comes with great torso printing, and two very useful accessories in new colors: the foil and the floppy hat. I also really like the Video Game Guy with the hair/headphone piece in different color than what we have seen before, and a great T-shirt design with the new moulded color sleeves only seen on The Simpsons characters before. 😀

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 Characters

The rest of the minifigures in Series 12 are (according to this Brickset article): Jester, Piggy Guy, Hun Warrior, Fairytale Princess, Pizza Delivery Man, Spooky Girl, Prospector, Genie Girl, Rock Star, and Lifeguard. No picture as of yet, but I’m really looking forward to seeing them all!

What about you? How do you like the LEGO Minifigures Series 12 characters revealed so far? Are you looking forward to this series? Which one(s) are your favorites?
