2024 LEGO City Fire Rescue Sets Overview

One of the perennial sub-themes of LEGO City is about saving minifig citizens from devastating fires. Kids and even many adult LEGO fans like fire trucks, so LEGO regularly redesigns and re-releases LEGO City Fire Rescue set. While the sets are mostly aimed at younger kids, some of the sets could be incorporated into the city dioramas of teens and adult builders.

This year, we got five new LEGO City Fire Rescue sets. The two smallest ones are the #60410 LEGO City Fire Rescue Motorcycle and the #60411 LEGO City Fire Rescue Helicopter for $9.99 each. These are small starter sets meant for play, but they are well designed. I especially like the little helicopter. Small flyers like this can be hung over a LEGO city with fishing lines to add visual interest. Both sets are available at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

A bit larger action-oriented set is the #60412 LEGO City 4×4 Fire Truck with Rescue Boat for $34.99. Again, the design is solid, but nothing too special here. I do like the simple but effective tent design using two flat panels on hinges. If you want to check it out, it’s available at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #60413 LEGO City Fire Rescue Plane is one of the largest sets in the new collection, but the price is still an affordable $54.99. It features twin engines, a working water drop function at the top, two working water launchers, an opening rear cargo door, plus a dual cockpit. The three minifigs are a pilot, an extinguisher operator, and a cool jetpack firefighter. The set also includes a small wildlife scene on fire. I’m certain this set is going to be popular with kids, and adult builders might enjoy the attractive twin engine design. Available at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The largest set in the collection this year is the #60414 LEGO City Fire Station with Fire Truck for $79.99. You will notice right away the interesting modern design with those curved and sloping walls and angled up-and over style garage doors. The numbered gates (created with tiles) are a nice touch. Inside, there is a control center, kitchenette, sleeping quarters, an equipment area, and of course the two garage bays. The fire truck is compact and includes a ladder on a turntable, and there is also a small drone. The five minifig are accompanied by a fire dog wearing a printed vest. It will be interesting how LEGO fans receive the unusual architecture of this fire station. You can find more details on it at the LEGO City section of the Online LEGO Shop.

If you’re interested in any of the new LEGO City Fire Rescue sets, I do recommend watching the video overview below. Alex will walk you through all five of the sets

The LEGO Chinese New Year sets are especially popular with adult LEGO fans due to their intricate details, unique elements, exclusive minifigures, and beautiful designs. This year is especially exceptional with two larger sets as well as several smaller ones. So let’s take a look.

The smaller Chinese New Year sets include the #40678 LEGO Chinese New Year Festival Calendar with two display bases for the calendar, one decorative, and the other shaped like a dragon boat. The calendar itself rotates so you can choose which date to display. This is a nice little set that’s also functional, and the price is also reasonable at $29.94. Available at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #40725 LEGO Cherry Blossoms is another smaller set for just $14.99. It comes with two buildable cherry blossom twigs that can be decorated with delicate buds in shades of white and pink, the set encourages flower-lovers to create customized LEGO blooms. This set is also a perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, or Mother’s Day, or it can be combined with other floral sets from the LEGO Botanical Collection to create a vibrant bouquet. Available at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

A couple of other small sets related to Chinese New Year are the #31145 LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Red Dragon for $9.99. This little dragon can be rebuilt into a phoenix with colorful feathers or a fish with poseable fins. Available at the LEGO Creator section of the Online LEGO Shop. The #40673 LEGO Spring Festival Mickey Mouse is based on the LEGO BrickHeadz building platform with a blocky shape, big head, and small body. The price is $9.99 and the set is available at the LEGO BrickHeadz section of the Online LEGO Shop.

2024 is the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac. Thus, one of the big sets this year is the beautiful #80112 LEGO Chinese New Year Auspicious Dragon. It features a tilting head and opening mouth, plus printed elements for the eyes and dragon scales created especially for this set. The dragon itself measures over 10 in. (26 cm) high, 13.5 in. (35 cm) long, and 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide, and it holds a traditional blue crystal and is sitting on a brick-built rock in the sea. A nameplate adds a finishing touch to this striking display model. Take a look at the video below to see all the details. The price of this set is $89.99 and it is available at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Chinese New Year marks the beginning of a new year in the traditional lunar calendar. The festivities can last 16 days or longer and are celebrated by visiting family and friends, honoring ancestors, giving gifts, sharing meals, setting off fireworks, and other traditions. The newly released #80113 LEGO Chinese New Year Family Reunion Celebration references many of these activities. It’s basically a traditional Chinese-style restaurant with a detailed kitchen, reception area, dining room (including a buildable karaoke machine), and bathroom. The rooftop dining area is perfect for celebrating the Year of the Dragon, with a table for two, a buildable patio heater, a flowerpot, hanging lanterns, and fireworks. There is also a buildable flower store, and street food carts to add playability. The set includes 13 minifigs, several of them unique to this set. The roof and upper level of the restaurant lift off like on the LEGO Modular Buildings, in fact, although this set is open at the back, several LEGO fans already converted it into a full-size Modular (you can find examples on YouTube). This set could also be mixed with the LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Monkie Kid range. There is a lot to like here, so take a look at the video review below. The price of this set is $129.99 and it is available at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

As you can see, the LEGO Chinese New Year sets are fantastic this year. You can build and display them as they are, and because there are so many cool details and unique elements you can also incorporate them into your own creations. What do you think?
