Happy New Year! We made it to 2013! Yay! Many people come up with resolutions for the New Year; perhaps take better care of themselves, be kinder to others, get their finances in order… so I was wondering if LEGO-fans make resolutions for the new year in regards to their hobby. I was talking with some LEGO-fan friends and here are some ideas we shared…

➡ Get all that LEGO organized! – as you get more involved in the hobby you will find that LEGO can get out of hand pretty easily. All those hundreds and thousands of tiny pieces! So coming up with a storage solution can really make a difference to get everything in order. How are you doing with your LEGO organization? Any plans for improvement in 2013? Or are you happy with the system you already have?
➡ Create a LEGO display place! – this is another issue LEGO fans can run into and requires some planning. Especially if you are collecting some of the LEGO Ultimate Collector or Expert Builder series, or even a lot of smaller sets; where to display them all? Do you have a designated LEGO display place or is it all over the place? Are you planning to come up with a new or improved system for displaying your best and favorite LEGO creations?
➡ Narrow down LEGO shopping! – with all the LEGO sets coming out it actually takes some serious thinking to decide what to buy. Do you like to collect a specific theme? Are you looking for sets that have great parts for your own creations? Are you buying LEGO for display? Or do you like to play with them? Are you good at sticking to your plan in this regard, or find yourself doing some binge-shopping at times? Any plans for improvement?
➡ Create a LEGO budget and stick to it! – another challenge LEGO fans face with all the choices is being careful not to spend more than they can afford. How are you doing in this area? Do you have a designated LEGO budget? Or have some other means to support your hobby? Or do you have to hide your LEGO purchases? Any ideas of how to manage better in 2013?
➡ Decide on what LEGO projects to build! – if you build your own LEGO creations do you have some ideas and plans what to build this upcoming year? Or do you just create on the fly, depending on a sudden inspiration? Any big plans for 2013 to build something new?
➡ Meet new LEGO friends! – thinking about going to a LEGO convention to make some new friends? These are great events to get inspired by the awesome ideas and creations of others! Do you have any plans to mingle with other LEGO fans in 2013?

➡ Write a LEGO book, start a LEGO blog! – after years of LEGO building people often start to feel like wanting to share their accumulated knowledge and experience with others. Perhaps in the form of a book or blog, or even starting a local LEGO club for kids or adults. Are you inspired to do something like that in the New Year?
➡ Put up a LEGO project on CUUSOO! – do you have a LEGO creation or an idea for a creation that you strongly feel should be an official LEGO set? Are you ready to take the plunge, put it up on CUUSOO and see what people think then promote it to reach 10,000 votes?

What else? Buy more LEGO? Buy less LEGO? Focus on buying, collecting or building? Opening up those still sealed boxes sitting in the closet? What are your plans and resolutions for the New Year? 🙂
To start out here are my 2013 LEGO new year’s resolutions; I have 2 new ideas for my 16×16 LEGO project (if you don’t know about my project; I create LEGO structures – mostly different style castles, forts, palaces, etc. – on 16×16 baseplates). I also have 3 new LEGO army plans (this is also part of the 16×16 project with 16 minifigs in each army). I’m happy with my LEGO budget; only allowing myself to spend money I make in my Bricklink store – it has been working well for several years now. However I do need a better storage-system for my finished creations as they have been creeping all over my room; either putting up more shelves, or boxing some of them. I keep going back and forth if I should collect the LEGO Modular Buildings or not. One day I think I should, the next day I think I shouldn’t. All those sweet LEGO indecisions! Anyway, 2013 should be a great year! 🙄
Okay, it’s your turn; what are your LEGO new year’s resolutions? Anything that worked well last year that you would like to keep doing? Anything new you would like to try? Feel free to share and discuss in the comment section below! And have a wonderful and LEGO-filled year! 😉
