LEGO Minifigures Series 9 detailed pictures!

We have talked about the upcoming LEGO minifigure series in the past couple of weeks (see: LEGO Minifigure Series 9 Teaser Pictures and LEGO Minifigure Series 9-10-11 News!), and today we can finally take a good look at LEGO Minifigures Series 9, thanks to WhiteFang at Eurobricks who acquired an entire box of Series 9 early and provided a full review! So let’s dive in and check out these little guys! 😛

First of all here is the full box image for LEGO Minifigures Series 9. As you can see the packages this time are a darker shade of silver-gray.

And here are all the 16 LEGO Minifigures in Series 9! According to many LEGO fans this is one of the best minifigure series released. Every single minifigure is interesting and unique – no deadbeats or slackers here. We also get lots of new moulds, new colors, new prints and new accessories!

And here is a better look at each of the minifigures, starting with the Waiter and the Cyclops. A lot of people are excited about the Cyclops (with a dual-sided head), but the waiter is excellent too with that beautifully printed green bottle and new tray!

And here is the LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Hollywood Starlet with a really sweet new hair-mould. The Heroic Knight comes with a nice shield, printed legs, printed armor, and a new short-sword.

One of the most exciting minifigures in Series 9 is the Roman Emperor. It will go really well with the previously released Roman Soldier and Gladiator. And although most of us have plenty of LEGO policemen already, this one is really nice with a dark-blue uniform instead of black, and a brand new police-hat!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Chicken Suit Guy is going to be a perfect addition to the other animal-suit figures, and the Roller Derby Girls roller-skates have been long past due!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Fortune Teller is an absolutely unique minifigure and would be an interesting character in many LEGO scenes. I wish she would have a crystal ball though! The judge with his powdered wig and hammer is another unique character. Both the wig and the hammer/mallet are going to be useful accessories.

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Alien Avenger and Mermaid are some of my favorites in this series. I always wanted that armor piece in different color than the previously available dark-blue, and the mermaid is very pretty with a rare hair-piece in a new color, and the star-fish has been very rare too! She is a real treasure!

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Battle Mech is most likely going to be very popular with kids. It is also a nice companion to the new LEGO Galaxy Squad line. And Mr. Good & Evil (also referred to as Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde is a great addition to the other evil characters in LEGO Monster Fighters.

The LEGO Minifigures Series 9 Forest Maiden is undoubtedly the sweetest minifigure in the series. She comes with a very pretty new hair-mould and a beautiful shield. She could fit right in with the famous LEGO Forestmen, or even the elves. The plumber comes with a new cap, and a new plunger. And I always liked minifigs in overalls. 🙄

And that completes the Series 9 Minifigures. If you would like to see more detailed pictures from different angles and without armor pieces and other accessories, check out WhiteFang’s full review over at Eurobricks.

One other thing I would like to mention here is that according to WhiteFang the distribution in a full box of 60 is as follows: 2 Waiter, 6 Cyclops, 2 Hollywood Starlet, 6 Heroic Knight, 4 Roman Emperor, 6 Policeman, 4 Chicken Suit Guy, 2 Roller Derby Girl, 2 Fortune Teller, 4 Judge, 6 Alien Avenger, 4 Mermaid, 4 Battle Mech, 4 Mr. Good & Evil, 2 Forest Maiden, 2 Plumber. Which means that you can only get two full sets per box. This is really unfortunate, as LEGO could have easily added 3 full sets. Luckily, most of the “army-builder” minifigures like the knights and aliens are readily available, but I’m really sad there is only 2 Forest Maidens per box. She would be a great addition to the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit sets or as an elf or forest maiden in any fantasy or LEGO Castle creation.

So what do you think? How do you like the LEGO Minifigure Series 9 characters? And which one is your favorite? How does this series compares to the previous ones in your opinion? Share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO makes a fan’s wish come true…

Here is a sweet story about a young boy, about a train, and about the generosity of a company that goes above and beyond to make a child happy. Even though it happened back in October, it has such a wonderful Christmas feel to it I thought to share it with you. 🙂

LEGO fan James Groccia with his dream LEGO train

It all started out with a ten-year-old avid LEGO fan who wanted the LEGO Emerald Night really badly. Here is his story, with his own words, from a letter he wrote to the LEGO company – dated September 1st, 2012:

My name is James Groccia and I’m 10 years old. I have been playing with many LEGO sets and products since I was about 4 years old. I have LEGO brick sets, Hero Factory, Creationary, Lunar Limo and more. I participate in a LEGO Playgroup to help with my social skills (I have Asperger’s Syndrome), and I love playing with LEGO at home (I play with them every day).

A couple of years ago I saw the Emerald Night Train set and fell in love with it. I wanted it right away, but my parents said I had to save the money to get it. For two years I kept all the money I got for birthday and holiday gifts, some of my allowance, and some money I got for participating in a research project. At last, a couple of months ago I had my $100 and was ready to buy the LEGO set of my dreams!

My mom started looking for it online and could not find any. We checked the LEGO store in our area and they didn’t have it either. I was completely crushed. You’ve stopped making it! It seems the only way to get one now is to pay $250 on Amazon or eBay, since now it is considered collectible.

I got another LEGO set, thinking I could forget about the Emerald Night, but every time I see it anywhere online I get very sad and disappointed. I still want the Emerald Night so badly, but there are none to be found.

Do you have any at your corporate headquarters? Perhaps I could get one that way? If you have any other ideas, I would be happy to hear them. I have never wanted a LEGO set so badly ever in my life!

LEGO originally responded to James’ letter that unfortunately the Emerald Night has indeed been discontinued. However on his birthday a month later, James got the surprise of his life when the train showed up at his doorstep! The rest is recorded by James’ family with a hidden camera and posted on YouTube. The video is titled “Why LEGO is the Best Company in the World”. Check it out below! 😛

Sweet, huh? As you can see patience and determination still pays off, and there are still people in the world who are happy to assist you in your dreams. I’m sure James will be a life-long LEGO fan. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! And happy holidays! 😉
