Make your own LEGO Christmas ornaments!

Would you like make your Christmas tree really unique and decorate it with LEGO ornaments? Or how about just a little LEGO Santa above the fireplace or hiding in someone’s stocking? 😛

Peter Johnston from the UK created a whole line of simple and sweet LEGO Christmas decorations and ornaments and he offered to share them with our readers. (Thanks, Peter!) Below is Peter’s Christmas tree decorated with his custom designed LEGO ornaments. 🙂

Making these sweet LEGO Christmas ornaments can be more than just decorating your tree; it can also be a wonderful family activity. And Peter provided all the instructions as downloadable files so you can easily make your own. The instructions are created in LEGO Digital Designer, which is available for free here: DOWNLOAD LEGO DIGITAL DESIGNER

You can download all of the LEGO Christmas Ornaments in one LDD file, or pick and choose the ornaments you like and download individual files. It is up to you. You can find the instructions here: DOWNLOAD LEGO CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS

Here are some close-ups from Peter’s Christmas tree with the LEGO ornaments. Aren’t they just perfect? The lights especially make them nice! You can find more photos at Peter’s flickr gallery.

And if y0u are near a LEGO Store, or visiting the Online LEGO Shop, you can also add some of LEGO’s own Christmas ornaments. I can guarantee that your tree will be the envy of kids and adults alike! 🙄

How do you like Peter’s LEGO Christmas decorations? Have you tried making some of them? Which one is your favorite? Do you have some of your own designs? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉

LEGO brickfilms behind-the-scenes tips & tricks

You have seen those fun LEGO stop-motion videos from the BrotherhoodWorkshop, right? We have featured several of them here (see links at the bottom of this post). They are always funny and the animation so smooth – just a real pleasure to watch and enjoy! 🙂

Today I would like to show you another video from the brothers, this time taking a behind-the-scenes look at creating LEGO stop-motion videos. Here Kevin Ulrich shares some of their tricks like animating multiple characters, materials used for backgrounds, using clay for the ground-surface, adding special effects, software and other tools used, etc.

If you are interested in LEGO brickfilming this video is just a wealth of information and offers some great ideas. It doesn’t go into great detail like a tutorial, but it does introduce some important subjects, and if you have questions you can always ask Kevin directly. Oh, and I can’t believe that’s Kevin’s voice for animating Gollum! 🙄

So what do you think? How did you like the behind-the scenes look into the BrotherhoodWorkshop’s studio? Did you learn anything new about the LEGO brickfilming process? Or picked up a cool trip you are planning to use? Share your thoughts in the comment section below! 😉
