LEGO Lord of the Rings – more pictures!

It was only a few days ago when I shared with you the first images of the LEGO Lord of the Rings minifigures. This morning I got an email from my contact at LEGO with further images of the upcoming LEGO Lord of the Rings characters. (You can read my previous post here: LEGO Lord of the Rings Minifigures – Pictures)

The first image is the fourth in the series of posters released by LEGO, featuring one of the most interesting Lord of the Rings characters; Gollum. I’m not sure if LEGO is planning to release a separate poster for each of the LEGO Lord of the Rings characters – it would be pretty sweet. Here are the other three posters released so far:

The following image is a line-up of the Fellowship of the Ring, aka. the LEGO Lord of the Rings “good-guys”:  Legolas – the elf, Boromir, Aragorn, Gandalf the Gray, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin – the hobbits, and Gimli – the dwarf. (Click on the image for full view.)

And here we have the LEGO Lord of the Rings ‘bad-guys”:  an Uruk-hai, Gollum, a Ringwraith, an Orc of Moria, and an Orc of Mordor. (Click on the image for full view.)

I really like the “good-guys”, as I have mentioned in the previous post. As far as the baddies go, I absolutely love the Uruk-hai and can see myself getting a whole army of those savages. I like the Orcs too. It appears that their ear is part of the hair-attachment, like on the LEGO elves, but longer and pointier. Nicely done! The Ringwraith looks scary enough, although it would have been nice if they are taller to make them more menacing. And I’m not so sure about Gollum. I appreciate that LEGO didn’t go with just a short-legged minifig, but put some serious effort into creating a new mold. Gollum is not an easy character to put into LEGO-form, so all in all I’m not disappointed, but I think he could be better. And he definitely needs a fish! 😮

Here are close-ups for each of the LEGO Lord of the Rings minifigures for your further viewing pleasure! These are from LEGO’s Facebook Page. Click on any of the images to enlarge. (Thanks, Chris, for the link!) 😉

What do you think? And what about the other LEGO Lord of the Rings characters? How do you like them so far? Share your thoughts below! 🙂

Free 2012 LEGO Star Wars poster!

I have been asked to provide a close-up and better view of the 2012 LEGO Star Wars poster, so here it is! Please note that this poster is only available by ordering any of the 2012 LEGO Star Wars sets. The offer officially ended a couple of days ago, but it was in fact still available this morning when I wrote this. So, if you want it, this is your last chance! 🙂

Going back to the LEGO Star Wars poster; it is quite large at 24 x 32 inches, and double sided. On the front side (well, I call it the front, but it could be called the back too), you see Luke Skywalker’s awesome #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter and the #9492 LEGO Star Wars  TIE Fighter in action. (Click on image, then click the + sign for full-size view).

On the back-side there is a really nice 2012 LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Gallery. (Click on image, then click the + sign for full-size view.)

The minifigs included in the LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Gallery (moving from left to right and top to bottom) are:

  • C-3PO – from #9490 LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape – with the more detailed and movie-accurate torso-print!
  • Princess Leia – from #9495 LEGO Star Wars Gold Leader’s Y-Wing Starfighter – with a really pretty new torso-print.
  • Commander Gree – from #9491 LEGO Star Wars Geonosian Cannon – leader of the clone-trooper unit; Green Company!
  • Luke Skywalker – from #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter – a classic figure with a new helmet-print!
  • R5-F7 – from #9495 LEGO Star Wars Gold Leader’s Y-Wing Starfighter – astromech droid with a new, more movie-accurate dome!
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi – from #9494 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor – dual-side head head, same Jedi-rope as before.
  • ARC (Advanced Recon Commando) Trooper – from #9488 LEGO Star Wars Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack – one of the nicest minifigs LEGO ever created! The printing is just gorgeous!
  • R2-D2 – from #9490 LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape – nothing new, just our favorite little droid!
  • Bariss Offee – from #9491 LEGO Star Wars Geonosian Cannon – a Mirialan Jedi, Padawan apprentice to Jedi Master Luminara Unduli.
  • Jek Porkins – from #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter – A brave Rebel Pilot under the code-name of Red Six in the Battle of Yavin.
  • Endor Rebel Trooper 1 – from #9489 LEGO Star Wars Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack – great to build your rebel army!
  • Gold Leader – from #9495 LEGO Star Wars Gold Leader’s Y-Wing Starfighter – aka. Dutch Vander, a brave Rebel Pilot.
  • Endor Rebel Trooper 2 – from #9489 LEGO Star Wars Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack – another great minifig to build your rebel troops or even contemporary army!
  • ARF (Advanced Recon Fighter) Trooper – from #9488 LEGO Star Wars Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack – the helmet on this minifigure is really nice, same as the ARF Trooper helmet from last year’s #7913 LEGO Star Wars Clone Trooper Battle Pack, but with different print.
  • R5-D8 – from #9493 LEGO Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter – an awesome little astromech droid with a new and more movie-accurate dome!
  • Anakin Skywalker – from #9494 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor – dual-sided head, both ugly as the Dark Side. 👿
  • Nute Gunray – from #9494 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor – his dark-orange & dark-red rope and headgear are quite nice and could be useful in other settings.
  • Security Battle Droid – from #9494 LEGO Star Wars Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor – same old droid as before.
  • Commando Droid – from #9488 LEGO Star Wars Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack – nicely designed and printed head!
  • Geonosian Warrior – from #9491 LEGO Star Wars Geonosian Cannon – these guys have some of the nicest torso-prints and those wings are great!
  • Geonosian Zombie – from #9491 LEGO Star Wars Geonosian Cannon – love those zombie eyes!
  • Sandtrooper 1 – from #9490 LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape – the new dirt-print is excellent!
  • Sandtrooper 2 – from #9490 LEGO Star Wars Droid Escape – the dirt-printing is the same as on the first trooper. Also, both of them come with printed heads.
  • Scout Trooper – from #9489 LEGO Star Wars Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack– same as in previous years, but now with printed head (same as the Sandtrooper’s).
  • Stormtrooper – from #9489 LEGO Star Wars Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack – now torso-print, and printed head (same as the Sandtrooper’s and Scout Trooper’s).
  • Imperial Officer – from #9492 LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter – nothing special, I believe all parts are the old design.
  • TIE Fighter Pilot – from #9492 LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter – I never liked this helmet, I think it is too big. But the printing is nice.
  • Death Star Trooper – from #9492 LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter – interesting new helmet and dual-sided head.
  • R5-J2 – from #9492 LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter – an Imperial astromech droid stationed on the second Death Star (with the new, more movie-accurate dome).

So, that’s the whole line-up of these awesome minifigs! I believe that the front side of this poster would work great as a backdrop for a LEGO Star Wars display, and the back is an excellent reference to the 2012 LEGO Star Wars minifigs and which sets they come in. I wish it would be possible to get two to see both sides at the same time! Unfortunately only one is allowed per order, but it should be possible to get a second one on BrickLink or eBay, but probably not for free.

Oh, and I should also mention; today is the last day to get double VIP points on these earlier release LEGO Star Wars sets!
