2024 LEGO Advent Calendars Overview

LEGO has been releasing Advent Calendar sets with small builds for each day of December counting down to Christmas for over two decades. They were originally released in the LEGO Creator line and later switched to LEGO City with the occasional addition of another popular theme. Eventually, LEGO designers settled on three Advent Calendars for each year; LEGO City, LEGO Friends, and LEGO Star Wars, with LEGO Harry Potter added in 2019, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes in 2021. And this year, we’re also getting a sixth set, the LEGO Disney Advent Calendar with tiny micro mini-dolls. With so many choices, I thought it would be a good idea to go through them all.

I know it may feel a bit early to talk about Christmas sets, but they just became available and they tend to sell out early. So let’s take a look!

The #60436 LEGO City Advent Calendar is packed with fun characters, seasonal mini-builds, and cool minifigure accessories. The highlight of this set is all the minifig Christmas sweaters. There is even a printed Christmas sweater for the baby and the dog! As this is a non-licensed set, the price is lower at $32.99. You can find it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #42637 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar comes with five characters, including little Olly, little Paisley, Paisley’s mum, dad, and younger sister, plus two baby pets. And as usual with Advent Calendars, the set is full of little accessories. As this is also a non-licensed set, the price is $32.99 and the set is available at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #43253 LEGO Disney Advent Calendar includes Elsa, Tiana, Ariel, Moana, and Mirabel as micro-doll figures, plus Pua, Snowgie, and adorable baby reindeer Sven. As this is a licensed set, the price is $44.99. You can find it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #76438 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar features elements from the four Hogwarts houses, including a gargoyle and table that is covered in festive items for each of Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. There are also 2 of 14 collectible Hogwarts portraits, a Christmas tree, Christmas crackers, a Hogwarts Express train, and more. The set also features a whopping seven minifigs; Harry Potter, Susan Bones, Cho Chang, Draco Malfoy, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Flitwick, Choir Ghost, and Hedwig. As this is also a licensed set, the price is $44.99. You can find it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #76293 LEGO Spider-Man Advent Calendar comes with five minifigures; Spider-Man, Green Goblin, Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider, and Venom. The small buildable accessories feature New York City street scenes from the Spider-Man movies, like a snow Spider-Ham, Peter Parker’s desk, and Electro’s winter tree. There are also two small cars that can be raced against each other and a Sandman catapult flinging presents! As this is also a licensed set, the price is $44.99. You can find it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #75395 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar is a perennial favorite as it seems like LEGO designers always go above and beyond to make it really fun. It features miniature versions of the first-ever brick-built models of iconic vehicles, from an X-wing to the Millennium Falcon to The Crimson Firehawk. Among the 18 mini-builds there is also Darth Vader’s Castle and a mini-kit from the first Star Wars video game. Included minifigs are Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in Christmas sweaters, Ahsoka Tano, 501st Clone Trooper, and a Praetorian Guard, plus a Super Battle Droid. As this is also a licensed set, the price is $44.99. You can find it at the seasonal items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

Other projects include Dope (2015), Roxanne Roxanne (2017), Voices of Fire (2020), and Amazon’s Harlem, which has been renewed for a third season.

Today’s announcement also sees the release of a new LEGO set designed in collaboration with Pharrell. The #10391 LEGO Over the Moon is a space shuttle with a golden canopy and a vibrant jet stream of colors. For Pharrell, the infinity of space was the first catalyst for his imagination, showing him that there are no limits to what we can explore.

Pharrell believes that curiosity and creativity are essential life forces in all of us and credits them as the building blocks of his success. The LEGO Group is proud to partner with Pharrell to encourage people of all ages to use play and building to share their stories.

“Growing up, I was obsessed with space and the infinite possibilities it represents,” said Pharrell. “This partnership aims to inspire creativity and inclusivity. With my LEGO Over the Moon set I want everyone to feel seen and empowered to imagine their own stories. The spaceship is blasting off, and you’re in the pilot seat.”

Over the Moon is made up of three parts, with each holding a special meaning for Pharrell. The black-and-gold shuttle symbolizes limitless potential, taking off and transporting you anywhere you can imagine. The bright and vibrant colors of the jet stream symbolize the imagination, creativity, and power of play to fuel your way. And finally, befitting Pharrell’s relentless pursuit to push boundaries and ensure that everyone can feel represented and seen, the LEGO Over the Moon set features the widest range of minifigure skin tones included in a LEGO product, with seven in total. 51 different minifigure heads are included, over 30 of which have been designed specifically for this set.

The new set also includes several brand-new color-piece combos, created specifically for this project, such as the custom-made windscreen canopy made in drum-lacquered gold color for the first time ever.

“Our values for over 90 years have been rooted in creativity, curiosity and imagination. Pharrell is unique in his ability to draw on those qualities to influence his art. A true icon of our time, he never fails to innovate and inspire his audience, through any of his many endeavors” said Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer from the LEGO Group. “Through our partnership, we want to inspire people of all ages to unlock their own limitless potential through LEGO Play. This is a shared mission, and we’re excited to take off today.”

Pharrell’s collaboration with the LEGO Group will extend to his non-profit foundation, YELLOW, which works to even the odds for children through education. This collaboration will see the launch of a new LEGO Build the Change global challenge, bringing more creative play to kids worldwide.

The launch of Over the Moon comes ahead of the release of Focus Features’ PIECE BY PIECE, which will debut in US theatres on the 11th of October, and internationally beginning the 6th of November. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville and featuring new original music from Pharrell, PIECE BY PIECE is a unique cinematic experience that invites audiences on a vibrant journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams. Developed from Pharrell’s singular vision, PIECE BY PIECE defies genres and expectations to transport audiences into a LEGO world where anything is possible.
