LEGO Black Friday & Cyber Monday Promotions

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had another challenging year that will certainly be in the history books. But there are also many things to be grateful for like our own health and wellbeing, the supportive circle of family and friends, new ways to connect with people and the world, interesting new opportunities, and more time to spend on our hobbies. The LEGO hobby really came to the forefront this last couple of years, especially for adult builders. LEGO also has been focusing on catering to families that build together with multiple building instructions within the same set. There is so much to be thankful for!

LEGO is high on the Christmas wish list of both young and old LEGO fans, and with the holiday shopping season beginning this weekend, retailers are offering all kinds of incentives to assist shoppers. Below, we will take a look at where to find those elusive LEGO deals this holiday season.

LEGO STORES & ONLINE LEGO SHOP: Traditionally official LEGO stores are one of the best places to shop for LEGO for the holiday season. However, with the pandemic still looming over us it’s better to restrict your shopping to the Online LEGO Shop. If you do plan to stop by at a nearby LEGO store, I suggest you call ahead for information about their current policies and restrictions. Both official LEGO stores and the Online LEGO Shop are offering several special promotions for this weekend.

Here are the specials for Black Friday weekend both online and in-store. You will get a free #40483 LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber when you purchase the newly released #75313 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series AT-AT. You will also get a free #40484 LEGO Santa’s Front Yard with purchases of $170 or more. In-store only, you will get a free LEGO Holiday Tree with purchases of $40 or more. There are also going to be sales on select sets throughout the weekend. To take advantage of these offers, visit an official LEGO store or the Online LEGO Shop.

On Cyber Monday, you will get a free LEGO VIP Fleece Blanket with purchases of $200 or more. In addition, you can also redeem 455 VIP Points for a $5 off discount voucher (normally 650). There is also going to be a LEGO VIP Reward sale and LEGO VIP Sweepstakes for a chance to win 1,000,000 LEGO VIP Points. For more details, visit the Online LEGO Shop.

If you are not accustomed to using the Online LEGO Shop, or you have friends/relatives who are going to be purchasing LEGO for you, the online LEGO Gift Finder can be a big help. This is a special section of the Online LEGO Shop, which helps guide those who are purchasing gift items. It helps shoppers narrow down their selection by age range, price, and interests. Below are some quick links to help you get started.

WAL-MART, TARGET & OTHER RETAILERS: These are the generic big-box retail stores. They usually have a good selection of LEGO sets, their prices aren’t inflated (although it’s always a good idea to double-check), and they usually have great deals around the holiday season in the 20-50% off range. One tip I would give is that don’t take the shelf prices for granted. There are often sales going on which are not yet marked on the shelves (especially around this time of the year when stores are so busy). Take items up to a price-checking station to get the most current price. Also, don’t forget to check the websites of these retailers, as they often have online-only deals during the holiday season, and with the current pandemic, it’s much safer to shop online anyway.

SHOPPING FOR LEGO AT AMAZON.COM: One of the best places to shop for LEGO, especially around the holidays, is Amazon.com. Their prices are excellent, as they like to undercut – or at least match – everyone else. As a caveat, always look for the Eligible for Free Shipping icon in the item description. These are items shipped directly by Amazon. (Amazon also has affiliates and their shipping may not be free and/or their service may not be as reliable.) Amazon has a dedicated LEGO store section, with all the currently available sets. Below are some quick links to help you get started:

SHOPPING FOR RETIRED, USED & BULK LEGO: If you have your eyes on a retired LEGO set, or just want to pick up some used or bulk LEGO, eBay.com and BrickLink.com are the best places to shop. Always check the seller’s feedback and if you’re not sure about something, ask questions before making a purchase. One thing to remember when shopping on eBay and BrickLink is that these are usually small hobby sellers who will need to pack and ship your order during their spare time. Also, there have been significant shipping delays due to the pandemic, so place your orders at least 2-3 weeks before Christmas to make sure the package arrives on time.

RECENTLY RELEASED EXCLUSIVE SETS: Here is a list of all the most talked about sets that were released in the past couple of months you may consider for the holidays. The #10294 LEGO Titanic, #10276 LEGO Colosseum, the #75313 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series AT-AT, the #75978 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley set, the #21323 LEGO Ideas Playable Piano, the #21327 LEGO Ideas Typewriter, the #21324 LEGO Ideas Sesame Street set, the #21324 LEGO Ideas Home Alone set, the #71374 LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, the #10274 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1, the #76161 LEGO Batman Batwing, the LEGO Art World Map and other mosaics, and many other new sets under LEGO Batman, LEGO City, LEGO Creator 3-in-1, LEGO Disney, LEGO Friends, LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Hidden Side, LEGO Iron Man, LEGO Monkie Kid, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Super Mario, LEGO Technic, and LEGO Trolls. To see the full list visit the new items section of the Online LEGO Shop.

If you already know what you want to get, shopping online is usually the best, most convenient, and safest option. Most retailers offer free shipping, or a very low shipping threshold, during the holiday season to encourage online orders, and they offer the same or even better specials online as in stores. Also, when shopping with online retailers like Amazon, you can pick up other non-LEGO items at the same time which is super convenient. Again, just keep in mind that there may be significant shipping delays.

I hope this guide helps you in your holiday LEGO shopping. We will talk more about what’s available at what we recommend in the following weeks. If you would like to add your own LEGO shopping tips feel free to share them in the comment section below, along with any great deals you run across between now and Christmas. Happy huntin’!

LEGO Ninjago Comic Book Series Coming!

This was revealed at the end of October, but we haven’t talked about it yet; Skybound Entertainment announced a new LEGO Ninjago comic book series that will arrive in stores in April of next year. LEGO Ninjago Garmadon #1 is going to be an official new chapter in the worldwide phenomenon that arrives in stores next April, from rising star writer/artist Tri Vuong (the upcoming Everyday Hero Machine Boy)!

This is the first LEGO branded comic book series release from the landmark partnership between multiplatform content company Skybound Entertainment and global children’s book publisher AMEET, with additional top-secret new series to be announced in the coming year.

Skybound Entertainment is a multiplatform content company that works closely with creators and their intellectual properties, extending their stories to further platforms including comics, television, film, tabletop and video games, books, digital content, events, and beyond. The company is the home of notable properties including The Walking Dead, Invincible, and Super Dinosaur. Skybound holds strategic partnerships across the entertainment industry and has the in-house capabilities to serve as publisher, producer, and global distributor for tabletop and video games. On-screen, Skybound holds a first-look television deal with Amazon Studios and a first-look movie deal with Universal. Additional partnerships include comic book publishing with Image Comics, book publishing with Simon & Schuster, and a first-look narrative audio deal with Audible.

AMEET is a global publisher of children’s books. With an international sales and editorial team—and an in-house art studio and R&D department—AMEET works closely with publishing partners and booksellers around the world to create unique, high-quality books inspiring imaginative play in over 50 countries. Focused on fostering creativity through hands-on experiences with beloved brands, AMEET is committed to providing fun, educational, and innovative books for the next generation.

“When it came to our first LEGO comic book series launch, we knew it had to be full of action, adventure, and heartfelt drama. Everything that’s made the LEGO Ninjago franchise so iconic,” said Sean Mackiewicz, Senior Vice President, Editor-in-Chief at Skybound Entertainment. “We’re excited to expand the official Ninjago mythos in partnership with our friends at AMEET and the LEGO Group to bring you the grand return of the bad guy you love to hate—Lord Garmadon!”

Far away from Ninjago City, a village is terrorized by a mysterious new threat when they’re saved by a stranger with incredible powers known as… Garmadon, Lord of Destruction?! Has Garmadon turned over a new leaf since his disappearance, or is this just the first step in his master plan of finally defeating Master Wu and the ninja forever?

“It’s been such a great opportunity to play within the LEGO universe,” said writer/artist Tri Vuong. “The LEGO Ninjago franchise has all the qualities that I love in a story; action, adventure, humor, and compelling characters. In our new series, we’re paying homage to the LEGO Ninjago franchise while expanding the mythology with new stories on this beloved property.”

LEGO Ninjago Garmadon #1 (of 5) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

If you’re a Ninjago fan you might remember that back in 2013 when the Ninjago TV show on Cartoon Network was exceptionally popular, there were two series of Ninjago comics that ran simultaneously with each other and the show; the best-selling Ninjago graphic novels by Papercutz, and the Ninjago chapter books by Scholastic. They were always such a pleasure to flip through! So it is very exciting that we will be getting a new comic book series.

What do you think? Did you read the earlier Ninjago comic books? And are you looking forward to the new series? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!
