Yesterday, the LEGO Group announced the upcoming #40516 LEGO Everyone is Awesome set, designed to celebrate the diversity of LEGO fans and the world around us. Details below.

The buildable display model is inspired by the iconic rainbow flag, which is used as a symbol of love and acceptance by the LGBTQIA+ community, and features 11 monochrome minifigures each with its own individual hairstyle and rainbow color.

Set designer Matthew Ashton, Vice President of LEGO Design said: “I wanted to create a model that symbolizes inclusivity and celebrates everyone, no matter how they identify or who they love. Everyone is unique, and with a little more love, acceptance, and understanding in the world, we can all feel more free to be our true AWESOME selves! This model shows that we care, and that we truly believe ‘Everyone is awesome’!”

The 346 piece set stands 10.24cm tall and has a depth of 12.80cm – a perfect fit for most shelves or window sills. It goes on sale on June 1, to mark the start of Pride Month, and will be available through the Online LEGO Shop and LEGO branded stores. Prices are as follows: 34.99 EUR/30.00 GBP/ 59.99 AUD /34.99 USD / 44.49 CAD.

Matthew said that the set was also a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community within the LEGO Group and amongst the brand’s adult fans. “I am fortunate to be a part of a proud, supportive, and passionate community of colleagues and fans. We share love for creativity and self-expression through LEGO bricks and this set is a way to show my gratitude for all the love and inspiration that is constantly shared.”

The LEGO Group is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. It partners with Workplace Pride, Stonewall, and Open for Business to help shape strategies to support employees who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies across the company. It also supports the UK-based charity, Diversity Role Models, which works to educate children about inclusivity and empathy in order to build supportive and inclusive future generations.

Just a quick reminder that the recently announced #10292 LEGO F.R.I.E.N.D.S Apartments set is now available for LEGO VIP members (general release will be on June 1st). This set will likely move fast, so if you want to get it early, this is your chance.

We talked about the set in detail (see: LEGO F.R.I.E.N.D.S Apartments Coming!), but to recap, this is the second set related to the popular TV show after the #21319 LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S Central Perk set, which was released in 2019 and is still available at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop.

The #10292 LEGO F.R.I.E.N.D.S Apartments comes with 2,048-pieces, and features both Monica and Rachel’s, and Chandler and Joey’s New York apartments, plus the adjoining hallway. It includes tons of iconic scenes from the TV show like when Monica put the Thanksgiving turkey on her head, when Joey and Chandler only had a canoe as furniture, and when Phoebe’s dollhouse went up in flames. Other instantly recognizable features are the Poking Device, Gladys, Phoebe’s creepy art piece, the cheesecake that falls on the floor, Pat the Dog, the chick and duck, and many more. You can display both apartments either separately or linked together with the hallway. Studio lights are also included to give a sense of the original studio setting.

There are also updated minifigs of the whole gang in some of their most memorable outfits; Rachel’s iconic plaid skirt, Ross’ too tight leather pants, Monica in an apron, Phoebe in a classic floral look, Chandler in a suit and loud designer tie, and Joey wearing all of Chandler’s clothes. And for the first time ever, Janice is also included, in a classic over-the-top gaudy outfit.

We can expect this set to be just as popular as the #21319 LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S Central Perk set, due to the detailed interiors, interesting accessories, and exclusive minifigs. Those who customized the original set into a Modular Building will likely do the same with the apartments. You can purchase the #21319 LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S Central Perk set at the LEGO Ideas section of the Online LEGO Shop, and the #10292 LEGO F.R.I.E.N.D.S Apartments at the Adults Welcome section of the Online LEGO Shop.

What do you think? How do you like the original LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S Central Perk set? And what do you think of this second set related to the TV show? Are you planning to get it? Feel free to share your thoughts and discuss in the comment section below!
